Peugeot 306 1.9DT - 306 DT - will NOT start 15 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Currently car will not start at all, although it turns fine ont he starter motor,. My guesses are Fuel pump, fuel injectors, immobilser, HGF (no sign of that), favouring the latter as it really wont start, despite running fine up to that point. thanks in advance Andy -

Bmw x3 - DPF problems advice please 28 May 2010 (Forum)
From what i can gather and what i have read about the DPF on long, up to full temperature journeys the dpf regenerates itself. on shorter journeys it injects fuel into the engine to get hotter and that regenerates it. but it seems on mine the extra added fuel is just going into the engine and staying there. Im concerned firstly that the oil is diluted and secondly that i could end up blowing the engine up. -

Peugeot 406 Hdi 2.2 - Min level additive gasoil alarm 5 Apr 2010 (Forum)
Hi there, I was wondering if someone could help me fix this issue. When I start the car I get 2-3 alarms, first one is 'Fuel cap open', the 2nd one is 'Min level additive gasoil' and the third one which appears randomly is something along the lines of 'Clean Diesel Filter'. Someone I know recommended me a mechanic, he said he replaced the fuel tank but this did resolve the 1st alarm, He also got the additive and replaced it & put in a new filter but that also didn't work even though we drove the car constantly at 60 mph for 20 mins (apparently that should regenerated the FAP and clear the alarm). -

The life and times of the humble glowplug... 27 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Do you reckon that modern glow plugs in a modern engine that will probably start (eventually) in most conditions without their use, will last longer than in old IDI applications, where they were needed a lot, but perhaps didn't stay on after the engine had fired? Will modern fuel injection systems and the quality of the fuel also contribute to a longer life for the modern glowplug...? -

Nissan Micra (2003 - 2010) - 03 1.4 Malfunction Light-problem with air pipe? 16 Jan 2010 (Forum)
just wondered if this was an easy problem to fix? also will the fact the air pipe has a hole in it be affecting the fuel efficiency and also how the engine runs? as is quite juddery in 2nd gear but all other gears are fine but fuel efficiency seems to be quite low. just from reading other posts am worried its going to be case of now the Malfunction light has come one its going to keep coming on regardless of whether problems are fixed are not. heard a lot about the oxygen sensors on these not working-is this linked to the air pipe? -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 02 1.8 damage during repair 6 Oct 2009 (Forum)
Dear Honest John, My Ford Focus (02) TDCi recently had to have a fuel pump, fuel filter and plugs replaced at a local Ford Dealership. My usual trusty mechanic couldn't deal with it due to it all being linked to the ECU. Anyway, 2 weeks later (last night) I picked up the car and immediately a noise and vibrating came from around the clutch area, specifically when the clutch was depressed in a low gear. -
MPG - How much is your banger costing you? 20 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Just some spent some time working out some statistics my dads car currently does 30mpg and he does 12,000 miles a year in his dying Fiesta I have worked out that he spends nearly £1800 a year on fuel. I've done the stats for my Corsa and I am getting 42mpg which is calculated from a pure city run sample. I do like to rev it a bit but I do avoid braking and drive very smoothly which is why I am probably getting a good MPG rate. -
Need something v.cheap, powerful and economical! 7 May 2009 (Forum)
With 150bhp and weighing only 1150kg its not as quick as modern hot hatches but its no slow coach! Im a final year uni student a bit of a petrol head and skint. The golf does ok on fuel seeing as im quite heavy footed but as im really poor at the moment im thinking i should get something diesel until i finish uni and start a real job! My question is, can anyone suggest any diesels that i could get for for £1000 or less that are good on fuel and could be kind of fun to drive. -

Additional info: - the engine has a slightly high idle speed - I've changed the oil and filter every 6k - for the first 6 months I used Optimax almost exclusively, but for the last 6 months my girlfriend has used a variety of cheaper fuel. Would anyone suggest any of the following? - Fuel additive/cleaner - Optimax only - carb adjustment - anything else Thanks very much {edited to make use of drop down menus that weren't previously available at time of first posting} -
