Motability cars and DPF filters? 23 Aug 2010 (Forum)
If you have a new diesel car on the motability scheme and your DPF filter clogs up because you only drive locally and can't be cleared on a long run meaning a trip to the dealer who will foot the bill? If it is a manufacturer's problem then they will but this problem only occurs if you don't use the car properly so in a way it is your fault the DPF got clogged. -

1994 BMW E36 M3 - White smoke (over fuelling?) 22 May 2010 (Forum)
Hey guys, Right my car starts fine and seems to idle and run ok until she starts warming up (roughly around the end of the red bar), when she seems a little down on power but also starts smoking from the exhaust. Upon parking up, she spits out plenty of smoke and even some petrol splashes and reeks of fuel. -

KIA Cerato Diesel - - Is this car a good buy?-£3.8K, 2005/55 -42K mile 13 May 2010 (Forum)
The car costs £ 3500. Its a 2005/55 registration and has run 42000 miles. It's a Cerato 1.5 CRDi GS My concerns about this car:- 1) Is the price right? The price is is £325 above the what car valuation for this car. 2) For a 5 year old car, its run only 42000 miles. -

Rover 200 (1995 - 1999) - 96 1.4 timing marks 3 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Hi ive just changed my waterpump on my Rover 214si N reg and as far as im aware ive lined all the timing marks up correctly ie:exhauste pully pointing towards inlet pully and locked them in place with locking tool, ive also lined flywheel pully up with the oil pump marking which is about 1 ocklock as you look at the engine in the standing position there are also some other marks on the plastic cover and one of them says TDC my question is to i use the TDC marks to time up my car to run smoothly or is it the oil pump mark i should use to time my car up beacause ive used the oil pump mark and lined both my cams up properly and my car runs erratically ?. And as the car ran fine before i replaced the pump it must be something im doing wrong ive been told that the oil pump mark is for dynamic engine timing purposes and i dont know what that is ? -
BMW X5 E53 SUV (2000 - 2007) - 05 3.0 LPG conversion of 4 x 4 10 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Hi I want (or even need-ish) to buy a 4 x 4. However 70% of the time the car will be used by the missus for the school run. The remaining 30% of the time will be for carting our very large dog around and ensuring we don't get stuck in the snow and floods considering the location of our house. We used to have a Frontera which kept breaking down, we then decided to agree with Greenpeace for a bit and have tried a Zafira. -

Audi A3 + S3 (1996 - 2001) - 97 1.6 Curious starting problem 11 Aug 2009 (Forum)
It was only after I bought the new battery that I realized the battery warning light wasn't illuminating at all when I turned on the ignition, which seems to suggest an alternator problem (diodes?) - but the fact that I saw a good charging voltage with the engine running seems to contradict this. Haven't got round to making any more measurements or checking for shorts yet. Has anyone seen these symptoms before? -

Car rental in days gone by - scams 28 May 2009 (Forum)
It was actually the front of our hotel and parking the car that triggered this off - because there had been a shot of a man running in out of the darkness, kicking the cars door in and then running off. It had been a scam that more than a few people had been caught in and it turned out the BIL of the car hire proprietor used to kick the doors of the hire cars in and then the hirer was brought before the local Court a few days later to a massive claim for damages.
