  • VIN change on V5 31 May 2006 (Forum)
Does anybody know how long it normally takes the DVLA to change the VIN on a V5? At the end of April my MOT-tester pointed out that there was one digit...

  • Fiat Punto! 24 Feb 2006 (Forum)
Have a query if any of you guys can give us some advice I would be much appreciated. I have 99 Fiat Punto S (60000 Miles)which broke down on the motorway. I was happily driving along when all of a sudden I could not accelerate anymore. As I moved to hard shoulder my car cut out. I was towed to my local garage and he is looking it at it as we speak.
  • Restoring VW Spray Washers 19 Feb 2006 (Forum)
I switched to Halford?s lemon scented screen wash concentrate a few weeks ago. Largely because SWMBO did not like the smell of my usual cheapo stuff. A welcome side effect is that the spray function of the nozzles has been mostly restored.
  • BMW 3 series service 3 Feb 2006 (Forum)
I currently own a 98 S reg 318ti sport with a full BMW service history at 70600 miles. With a service 1 or 11 coming up fairly soon, I was hoping for some advice on whether it is worth keeping this up or whether a BMW specialist but non dealership service would maintain the value the same?
  • civic type-R gearbox 12 Jan 2006 (Forum)
I had the engine oil changed a thousand miles ago to Castrol SLX 0W-30 but doubt if this would have anything to do with gear selection!! Also, big up Cirencester Tyre and Exhaust Co for their 4-wheel laser tracking service. New RE040's have 6000 miles on them and are wearing evenly, and very slowly - thanks lads!
  • New Seat Leon 6 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Picked it up yesterday, and already covered over 300 miles in it. 1.9TDI (105bhp) stylance with metalic black paint, bluetooth phone kit and some lovely 17's. http://www.seat.co.uk/generator/su/uk/newLeon/site/main.html Pretty much the same as the black car plastered all over the site above. Maybe a RF stylee transformation is in order, any sugestions?
  • Personal best wheelspin 18 Dec 2005 (Forum)
By holding the car on the foot-brake, revving hard then releasing the brake, I can do fantastic wheelspins. Yesterday?s rubber marks were about ten metres long before I bottled out (heading for concrete wall). I know I can beat that though, I?ve got the day off today. My wife sits there shaking her head, but I?m sure backroomers will be impressed.
  • I have a Question Volume 87 18 Sep 2005 (Forum)
The property will be a holiday home for both their families and at other times, rented out with profits split equally. The question(s); If down the line, for whatever reason Harry defaults on his mortagage payments, what would the implications be for Jack? Would they be different if he had taken out a mortgage himself? TIA.
  • Chips & Chipping 10 Jul 2005 (Forum)
A lot of posts both here and in technical mention "chipping" a car - which I take to mean having the engine management altered to increase performance. What...
  • Replace Scenic front discs & pads-easy? 10 Jul 2005 (Forum)

  • 1999 Passat - Plenum Drain Holes 5 Jul 2005 (Forum)
Does anyone know where the drain holes(s) are in the above vehicle ? - I checked the car today and the plenum chamber is flooded (Car Parked on an angle and water 1cm up on electrical ECU box, halfway up the servo !!) The mats inside the car feel dry so fingers crossed no damage to ECU's.
  • Second hand LPG cars - worth buying? 5 Jun 2005 (Forum)
In my quest to keep down the cost of motoring I'm interested to know if a S/H LPG conversion is a sensible choice. We have an LPG retailer 5 miles away, on a route we use. We do mixed motoring, but not often more than 35 miles at a time (hence my user name), as we also live close to a good train service.
  • The old Fiat Croma 29 May 2005 (Forum)
He was going to scrap it, but before he does, is it likely to be of any value to owners of Lancia Themas or Alfa 164's for any shared bits? Or come to think, does the Croma itself have a following? Thanks
  • Car Seat Comfort 25 May 2005 (Forum)
After 5 months of suffering discomfort and now back problems in my S reg Mondeo Verona, looks like I'll have to sell it. Two questions:- 1) Are there any companies who could replace the foam in the seat with something softer and more forgiving? Someone I spoke to said that modern car seats are injection moulded, so I reckon this is unlikely. 2) Can anyone recommend a suitable replacement?

  • One for Blue Haddock 2 May 2005 (Forum)
I must confess I found the previous Avensis boring but the new one is growing on me - the estate even more so. Are these 2.4's pricey or worth the money? This one is a saloon in a deep blue. It really looks the part. Cheers mate, -- Adam
  • PSA HDi Weaknesses 16 Apr 2005 (Forum)
f=2&t=30766 , originally attributed to failure of the rubber metal pulley as in other threads. I'm now being told the pulley was not the problem and that the rocker(s) failed spontaneously. Workshop manager asked if I'd "read about this" (suspect he was taking the wotsit as I admitted my reliance on internet fora questioning earlier advice). Are rockers or any other part of the cam/valvegear a known weakness on this engine.
  • Discussion: Best & Worst Film Car Chases 8 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Best: Ronin - through the streets in Paris (I think) - both the actual camera work, the stunts and the length of the chase make this my favourite. Worst: Fled (Laurence Fisbourne & Stephen Baldwin) - two guys on Ducati 916's not being able to outrun a big old cadillac or something similar - not exactly realistic. So, let's hear yours....
