Renault Captur 2019 1.3 T - Engine overheating 22 Aug 2025 (Forum)
My partners Captur suddenly displayed an engine fault message and don’t drive. She has noticed the cooling fan continuing to operate for a long time after parking up . The coolant level is fine and no drips on the garage floor. The warning sign cleared on re start Calling Start in the morning for the car to be recovered to the local garage . -
Motor racing on public roads 15 Jul 2014 (Forum)
We're one of the most car hating nations as far as goverments and local authorities go yet we want to be a centre for motorsport? A touch ironic, althought perhaps the thought of all the parking fines is getting the councils all frothed up with excitement over a big motorsport event in their area! -
Peugeot 406 (1999 - 2004) - 2002 2.0 Climate control 18 Aug 2008 (Forum)
I have just returned from holiday. I drove the car to the airport no problems. On our return pick car up after two weeks in car park. Start driving home, no heating of any sorts. Air conditioning works fine plenty of icy cold air but no heat. Any suggestions about possible cause? -
Free Emissions Test - Trafford 25 Feb 2004 (Forum)
There will be a free emissions test tomorrow (Thursday 26th February) between 10am and 3pm. The venue is ASDA car park near the Trafford Centre. Its an informal day, so if you fail, you won't be fined, just given a leaflet advising you to get your car looked at by a mechanic. http://www.cleanervehicles.org.uk/ Thanks Jonathan -
Ford Fiesta - Really frustrated by Council 18 Mar 2018 (Forum)
The thing is, the road is very tight and if I hadn't parked over the lines then no large vehicle such as an ambulance or fire truck could get access to the apartment blocks at the end of the road. So I took some pics and wrote a letter to the council to dispute the fines on that basis. -
parking at focus 11 Jul 2011 (Forum)
Hi everybody.......i know this matter has been mauled over, but i've tried to read up on all of the past posts in here, and just need someone to tell me how the legal stance is now.........i oarked in that darn place as they have a closing down sale....had to wait for what seemed an eternity for the staff to actually do anything to help, brought quite a bit...came out went home.....a week later i had to take the bulk of the product back as it was faulty...lol......had a slight debate with the manager, but thought that was it......Suddenly one of these PARKING CHARGE NOTICES, turns up from g24 Ltd demanding money, saying there were prominent signs, which i never saw, going on about limits.......now as i am a disabled driver, i always try to park in the blue badge part, and yes it does take me slightly longer than what it used to to get around, but as i was in the shop the whole of the time, i fail to see why i should be paying it........Now i know that one thread put that the manager can cancel the fine, but i don't think i'm on his christmas card list at the mo....can you please advise me what to do.............sorry about being a bit long winded....lol...........many thanks....whatever -
VW Passat 2.0 TDI - VW 2.0 TDI loss of power and EMS warning light 6 Aug 2010 (Forum)
I have had the car 3 years and had no problems at all. I took the car to a safari park today and crawled round the park for around 45 mins in first gear having to stop and start. On leaving the animal park and heading to the exit I noticed that there was no response from the engine to pressure on the accelerator. after a few more yards the EMS warning light started to flash and I pulled over and stopped the engine ( and to check the manual). -
A warning for blue badge holders. 17 Dec 2006 (Forum)
I made my way to the council offices confident I would be able to explain ths away on arrival I was given the impression the £30 would be waived once my appeals form had been seen by the official responsible. A week later I recieved notification by the borough council that the fine stood!!. My mistake was assuming the same rules on blue badge parking on the highways applied in council owned car parks. I have never returned to this place since that day 2 years ago. {Actual place name removed, and generalised - DD} -
Ford Mondeo 1 (1993 - 1996) - 96 2.0 auto - revs dying when accelerating 1 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Hi all, just bought a 2.0 Auto Mk1 mondeo and have a few minor niggles. This one is quite annoying and hopefully quite simple to resolve :D When I start the car it is fine, then after about a minute, if I stop and then go to pull away again (lights etc) the revs drop to the point of stalling, if I boot it I can get away ok, but if I drive sensibly, it stalls. Also happens when going into reverse, so I have to park in nice empty car parks and streets because reverse parking is impossible, either stalling or high revs to get into a space, not simple in an auto with no clutch to control the speed. -
Bill of Rights vs FPNs 25 Nov 2004 (Forum)
Julian Harman, John Dove and Colin Hunt. A supporter "(of BMWA Idris) "who received an order by a local authority to pay a parking fine through the post has staved off collection of the fine by quoting the Bill of Rights Act 1689, "That all grants and promises of fines and forfeitures of particular persons before conviction are illegal and void." -
2008 VW Polo (9n) - Steering Not Returning to Centre 12 Mar 2019 (Forum)
Now when I turn the steering wheel half a turn, it seems to tighten up (almost like a slight loss of PAS) and doesn't return to centre easily like it did. It's more noticeable when going slow (like in a car park) and not so much on the open road. I'm having 4 new tyres and wheel alignment later today. Is it likely to be the alignment considering what work has just been done? The tracking feels fine...doesn't pull etc. although in a straight line the steering wheel is more off centre now than it was...but drives in a straight line fine with minimal correction. -
Cars with no keeper - tow away? 5 Apr 2016 (Forum)
The driver would then either report it stolen, in which case he can be nailed for the due fines, or he is never heard from again, which confirms suspicions. -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 99 1.6 warning lights on?? 17 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Hi hopefully someone can help me, i drove my 1999 1.6 ford focus from north England down to south Wales, after a few days of not driving i drove to a local town 3miles away and my airbag, handbrake and tracking control lights came on while i was driving. i parked up while shopping got back in my car and when i turned the engine back on the lights were still on. the car still drives fine and everything seems fine, i'm concerned because i have to make the 300miles return trip next week. -
Why does my Alfa Romeo 159's battery keep going flat? 13 Aug 2010 (Ask HJ)

Return from Val D'Isere 2 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Comically, I wasn't able to pay the parking fine in France ! The Tabac didn't sell des timbres and the Poste wasn't open any time I was available. Giving up skiing time to pay a parking fine is not in my order of priorities. I'll have to send them a cheque in Euros to settle it. -

Red Route fines going up. From This is Money. 7 Aug 2021 (Forum)
A hike to fine amounts for Red Route offences, such as blocking yellow box junctions, breaking parking rules, performing illegal turns and driving in bus lanes, would see motorists receive a maximum penalty charge notice (PCN) of £160, up from £130. -

Golf Mk2 GTi battery discharging itself 6 Aug 2004 (Forum)
This morning the car was fine on the 25 mile trip to work and I parked up at 9am, then at midday flat as a pancake. Jump starting and all is well. The battery is new and when the problem occurs by the time the car is jump started the problem has gone such that an ammeter in series with the battery when switched off reveals no significant current drain.
