diesel oil levels.no-one knows! 20 Dec 2005 (Forum)
Every time the oil gets changed on my c22o diesel the oil high light comes on for a couple of weeks even though I tell them to put in the exact aopunt of oil...6 litres according to the handbook. This is a great problem because the very experts disagree on how to check oil levels on the dipstick, some say cold, some warm and others anywhere in between. -
Renault first fill oil 21 Apr 2003 (Forum)
I intend to go to the dealer after 9000 miles for an oil and filter change. Does anybody have a definitive answer as to the type and grade of the first fill oil ? -
Renault Kangoo diesel 59 plate - Car vibrates following oil change!!!! 25 Feb 2013 (Forum)
Previously trouble free Kangoo now vibrates through steering wheel/seat and pedal following oil change at 42k.( the service countdown on the dash indicated a symbol that looks like a container with a droplet over it, which i was advised indicated that the engine detected that the oil needed changed despite being 4k miles short of next service interval) Subtle change but enough for me to notice and on longer journeys can result in "pins and needles" and nausea. -
VW Polo, no service history, what to do? 2 Aug 2002 (Forum)
Change Oil + filter 2. Replace air filter 3. Check disc pads alround, change if necessary (esp. front) 4. Check gearbox oil (or replace anyway?) 5. Change sparkplugs 6. change Pollen filter 7. Flush radiator and engine block, fill with G11 or G12 (my preference for longer-life) VW-approved coolant 8. -
Peugeot 308 1.6 HDI 90 hp. - 308 Regular maintenance question 20 Jan 2013 (Forum)
For example, I couldn't locate the diesel fuel filter? Where is it? Do I need any special tool for that? My car is not 37000 km. and I want to change is soon. Air filter + interior filter are easier. Could you please also tell me if the oil change procedure is the same in this car? I couldn't look deeper but is the location of the oil filter same in this car in comparison with my previous car? -
Auto box won't work till hot. WHY? 15 Jun 2001 (Forum)
I have changed the auto oil and it makes no difference. I can get it to change up when cold but have to rev it a lot and then lift off, whereupon it changes, often straight into 3rd. I got it from a friend who swears that it has been like this for about the last 2 years and has not got any worse, which would seem to rule out worn clutches. -
Nissan Micra (1992 - 2003) - 02 1.0 Service & Oil Change 11 May 2008 (Forum)
my sister has asked me to do a small service on her Micra. Its been ages since I did car mechanics; I will have to change my A/F spanners for Metric! As this is a favor, I don't want to shell out for a Haynes too. The oil filter I can see at the back at the engine (Not nice and easy like on my old minis). I reckon I am going to have to grovel under and try & get my chain rachet round it. looks virtually impossible. -
Zafira 1.8 Elegance 2001 - zafira misfire due to stuck valve? 16 Apr 2013 (Forum)
When i changed the oil i used 10w40 which should be fine, but 5w30 is the recommended viscosity. Would another engine flush and oil change with recommended oil maybe help? I'm trying to cover all the bases and try smaller solutions before i strip the head down and check the valves. -
Honda Jazz - Low Idle 23 Jan 2013 (Forum)
I have to date done the following - Renewed the air filter (surprisingly dirty) Changed the plugs (around 1.8mm gap and cracks in central electrode) Reset the tappets clearance Cleaned the air inlet ducts (surprisingly dirty - appears to be old sump mineral oil) Cleaned throttle air duct, inc. the edges of the butterfly valve (non manual opening)Changed the fraying aux. drive belt Checked the EGR valve (surprisingly clean) Changed the oil and filter The oil change to Honda’s 5W - 40 oil has increased the idle to around 450, but I still have some starting and stalling trouble. -
Servicing rip off 2 Oct 2009 (Forum)
Trouble is, my gf had asked for a basic service. I would have interpreted this as an oil change and visual inspection. Given Kwik-fit would do a change for, what, £25, I'm still feeling like she's being ripped off. Any suggestions on how to approach this when I go down to collect it for her. -
Oil Suction Pumps - any good? 17 Jul 2012 (Forum)
I need to change the oil on my car and am increasingly appalled by the prices charged by garages to carry out a pretty routine task. I do not have the facility to drain the oil through the sump so have been looking at one of the vacuum/suction devices which uses a tube down the dipstick. -
Peugeot Expert - Oil capacity & type 31 Jul 2010 (Forum)
I've got a 2003 (03 plate) Peugeot Expert 900 HDI van (the 1997cc turbo diesel) and I can't find any information on what the engine oil capacity is for a change with filter. Anyone know, and also what type/grade of oil this engine needs? Cheers in advance -

Mazda 6 2.0d - Regular Start/Stop - Short distance driving.... 13 Jun 2011 (Forum)
Hi, Can someone please help me understand if its ok for a manufacturer to state: Change your oil and oil filter every 6,250 or less if: (only one point added from handbook) 1. Driving for long periods in cold temperatures or driving regularly at short distances only. I need an insight to what you guys class as "Regular", how many miles are "Short distances" Surley there is no way of knowing if you should change your oil or not if you do different mileage per day? -
Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 99 1.8d Gearbox oil 14 Feb 2009 (Forum)

Quick Engine oil Question. 8 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Is this http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?id=91019&ts=93300 ok to use? Bearing in mind it will get changed every 6 months and do no more then about 4k in that time - but lots of stop starting. Is it really worth paying more then double for same spec oil? -
Which HDi engine oil? 21 May 2007 (Forum)
What oil would be recommended for my newly aquired HDi 110 (in a 406) assuming 6k changes? I have a few gallons of Total Q7000 left from servicing its XUD predecessor which meets the handbook spec but would a fully synthetic 5w40 be more appropriate? -

Honda Jazz/Fit (2001 - 2008) - 6 month oil/filter change recommended 14 Feb 2010 (Forum)
My Honda dealer today told me, when I happened to be in there, about an offer to change the oil/filter at 6 months for £39 or thereabouts. At about £8 a litre (GTX Professional, I believe) plus cost of filter, the foreman was saying this is very fair as it also includes a vehicle check. -
elite v6 automatic gearbox problem 15 Oct 2003 (Forum)
hi all, i recently had my oil cooler replaced which stopped oil mixing with water in the tank, plus changed radiator unit (which included a transmission oil cooler) cost approx £400 incl labour. now the car developed a curious problem, automatic gearbox works fine when cold, after 5 miles or so, 1st gear develops a problem, becomes sticky, and need to push it down for 3 seconds before it responds, other gear changes seem ok. thing is though if i switch the engine off and back on then problem goes away for a nother 6 miles or so.
