Citroen C8 16 Sep 2005 (Forum)
HJ (in his car by car breakdown) mentions problems with water ingress into airbag ECU. Ours went in for recall but was not fixed correctly. As a result the car has had to go back in (the electrics started to play up big time) and our dealer cannot give us a delivery date for the required parts. -
VECTRA 1.8 OR 2.2 7 Jan 2002 (Forum)
Is it worth paying an extra £300 for a 2.2 LS as opposed to a 1.8? I appreciate that the larger engined car will cost more to run and insure, but is the new 2.2 engine considered to be more reliable (cambelts etc) than the 1.8 Ecotec? I have read the car-by-car breakdown and know that HJ does not recommend these cars, but I rather like them. -

Megane Scenic gearbox whine 11 Mar 2006 (Forum)
My brother in law has a 80,000-ish mile T-reg scenic which makes a whining noise, it goes away when he turns hard left, but doesn't change when he goes hard right, in the car by car breakdown it says check gearbox on this model, but it's not specific about what the problem is. Is it likely to be the gearbox, or has a driveshaft started to go? I've tried the search but didn't find anything. -
The small print 16 Jan 2002 (Forum)
My new car insurance policy has a loss or damage exclusion clause which i have'nt heard of before. Along with the usual exclusions , War,nuclear, terrorism there is a clause "Electronic computer or computer software breakdowns, faults or failures" So presumably if your airbag unexpectantly deploys due to electronic malfunction and you crash the car you cant claim. -
Used Saab 9-3 25 Aug 2001 (Forum)
Is this a good vehicle - I'm looking for something solid, comfortable and safe - good on the motorway and ok to drive in town. I've looked at the car-by-car breakdown - just wondering if anybody has good/bad experiences of these. It's not from a Saab dealer - can I get a Saab warranty for this? thanks -
Used car warranties 6 Feb 2008 (Forum)
The deal I'm being offered includes the small matter of £360 for a 'platinum' 12 month warranty with breakdown cover. It's not a deal-breaker, but it seems on the hefty side to me, and I'm concerned about potential get-out clauses. I doubt the car will do the dirty on me anyway, but those are famous last words. -
Peugeot 405 rust? 27 Nov 2000 (Forum)
In your car by car breakdown for the Peugeot 405, rust appears at the top of the list of what's bad. Where should I look to check for rust on these cars? I have looked at a few 405 estates already, but have not seen any rust problems. -
