   This tends to be wealthier folks in general we have noticed, or seemingly wealthy since it's allways the Mercedes benz or BMW driver we end up telling off.   We know that we can't clamp people as the law is about to change.  What can we do?  We simply want an effective way that will stop drivers parking where they are not supposed to which will in turn stop myself and the other staff being harrased by other irate visitors   any suggestions most welcome!

Leads me to a couple of thoughts: a) Was there other viable safety systems that over time and similar development could have been more effective than the airbag?

  Does anyone have any experiences good/bad or (sensible) opinions on the Mercedes Benz A-Class? I've been kicking around the idea of a new/ish car for a bit and have a slight problem in that I've got a small garage with an odd approach - can't get the Clio in, for example. I borrowed an A-Class 160Cdi Avantgarde from the local dealer today to weigh it up and see if it would fit in.

  Many, many minutes were spent trying to find the filter canister on the engine block, which reminded me of feeling foolish when I took ages to find the sump plug on my Golf VR6, which is hiding at the back at an angle. Anyway, in case anyone else doesn't yet know, the filter canister in a Mercedes-Benz E320 Coupé is well hidden at the back of the engine and not at all easy to unscrew. And, while I'm here, it may be of use to others to know that I have had written confirmation from RAC Warranty that the extended warranty on the MB does not require main-dealer servicing, provided that "the vehicle is still serviced in accordance with the manufacturer's schedule and that any parts fitted must be main agent parts".

  I know this because tomorrow (Wednesday) Autocar will be revealing the full details of a new scheme called Autocar Start. It’s been put together with the Mercedes-Benz Driving Academy, Smart and Carrot Insurance, with the single goal of trialling a scheme that does something practical about addressing the problems young drivers face. Without giving too much away, for a small deposit and set monthly fee, new drivers will lease a fully insured Smart car, and be instructed by the Mercedes-Benz Driving Academy both before and after their test.

  Every year, dozens, if not scores of pedestrians are killed by foolish, arrogant, or otherwise deluded elderly drivers who do not have the cranial capacity or co-ordination to properly control their limbs. We did some tests in a C63 AMG at Mercedes Benz World in May this year and by left foot braking I was able to brake much faster than any of the right foot brakers simply because the 'Highway Code' ‘Thinking Distance’ is completely eliminated.

    The old car sold well and its individual style must have had something to do with that. A car that was definitely replaced by an inferior model was the Mercedes-Benz A-Class.  It had Golf-like space in a body the size of the Up!  A brilliant concept.  They sold because of that fact.  MB didn't make enough profit from it though so it got replaced by a more mainstream car that has the space of a Golf in a body the size of a... erm...

  The saddest sight was of two glamour girls waiting for punters to fork out £10 to be photographed with them; they looked thoroughly neglected and miserable. My disappointment was in finding feeble efforts at the stands of the Mercedes-Benz Club and the Capri Club, both of which I belong to. Indeed, the Capri Club proper wasn't even properly there, but was represented by one of its regional branches. I had expected them both to be there with a team of club staff and technical experts to chat to, but no such luck.
