  • which fuel (petrol) 8 Aug 2003 (Forum)
I'm sure this topic appears in other threads, but was brought to mind when reading the recent 'which diesel fuel' thread. This is a tale starting 10 years ago, so things may well be different/better now, but it?s absolutely true and with no exaggeration: I had an Uno Turbo which over time developed a misfire. It was just about tolerable (to me, but maybe not to many people), but still not cured, when fitted with the expensive 3-prong sparkplugs this model was supposed to have.
  • 344bhp - Oh My Gawd! 22 Jul 2003 (Forum)
I have to say tho. If you get the opportunity to test drive an S4 - DO IT. The car sounds fantastic. goes like s*** thru a goose. and is just so addictive.
  • Cutting congestion 26 Apr 2003 (Forum)
Why then, do so many of my neighbours choose to drive EVERYWHERE ? Despite having lived here since the mid 80's, there are certain inhabitants who I've hardly ever seen on their 2 feet. Why is this ? Don't get me wrong, for a trip to the supermarket I take my car and for longer/inconvenient journeys I use it too.

\" \"Er no, but the cars outside\" (smug smile now gone!) \"The laws changed and we need to see some ID as well as the V5\" \"Thinks \" I know the law\'s changed thats why I\'ve brought my V5!\" \"Well we will need to see something, here have a leaflet it explains everything on it\" Walks out of shop goes home and gets the requisit bits of paper and returns. ( severe sulk on!)
  • Primera Starting problem 5 Dec 2002 (Forum)
I've checked fuses, fuel pump priming, and oil (for water contamination), without luck. Does anyone have any ideas?? I'm wondering about a sticking Valve(s), although this seems unlikely to cause total failure to start considering it was 100% upto that point. Cheers Neil T SEAT Leon TDi 150
  • Punctures (again) 4 Jan 2002 (Forum)
Has anyone else had this sort of problem with tyre depots employing people whose knowledge of jacking points appears a tad lacking? Keeping in mind some of the vehicles they are bending will be worth many thousands of £££££'s and the fact that I would not have known about the previous bending if it had not been pointed out the next day by the MOT tester. Anyone had a tyre change recently and looked under the car? How do we protect our cars from this vandalism?
  • hassles buying a car 27 Jul 2001 (Forum)
I ordered a new Toyota over a month ago. At the time they told me they could get it in two weeks, but I said no that?s ok I?ll have it on the 1st Aug thanks. We agreed a delivery date. Subsequently that sales guy has left the company. Sales manger rings me up on holiday to tell me this. When I got back I rang up for reg number in order to sort insurance.
  • Lost Wheel Saga 29 Apr 2001 (Forum)
Now to put it bluntly this is still going on, the Transport Industry has been buggering around since the 1970's and still has not come up with a proper solution. The yellow arrows you see stuck on wheel nuts is one manifestation but this like most of the other "solutions," including locking nuts, are total B****CKS.
  • SEAT - Delays on new car delivery dates, help needed 3 Feb 2010 (Forum)
I pointed out that whilst I understood our contract was principally with the dealers who are a Seat franchised dealership, I felt this was now reflecting on Seat?s brand & image as we still had no build or delivery date. Again I was informed of the situation with the live tracking system by Seats customer service agent & informed that the car still could be on its way or in the process of being built.
  • Lexus LS, Lexus RX450h - I tried LS500h and RX450h, here's what happened 30 May 2023 (Forum)
I currently drive a 2007 Lexus GS300 and have been considering upgrading to a LS500h / 7 series / S class. However, after much consideration I decided to simplify the decision process and just stick with Lexus. I figured I already know the brand and have experienced its famed reliability first hand for 9 years and I know that I have not been the most diligent owner of my GS300.

One of the best Peugeot’s ever if not the best. Ford Focus Mk I 1.6 Zetec - Ford really got it right in the 90’s with this and the Mondeo, both we’re almost perfect. The Focus was a hoot to pilot down a twisting B road yet civilised enough to be the perfect family or company hack. The rev happy Yamaha designed 1600 motor had just enough power to be fun yet was more reliable, better on fuel and smoother than the bigger Ford Zetec motors only the dearer cars.
  • Swapped the wifes car (cars) 24 Jun 2015 (Forum)
After the drive the Micra felt quick. Called at Nissan next and tried a Note with the 1.2 DIG-S engine. Loads of space (perfect for mum and dad), nicely trimmed, very well equipped and it went pretty well but it has to be said with the relatively high gearing there is not much acceleration in 5th gear, easily solved, use one of the others.
  • Various - New Car??? - Replace writ off C Class Executive SE 8 Jan 2014 (Forum)
A5 coupe S line – again, will be stretching the budget. I don’t think the console looks and smart as the Mercs, how are they practically, but always loved them, anyone who’s had comparable A5’s / E Class’s that can give a bit of feedback if the extra cost (and less spec) on the A5 is worth it or the E Class edges it?
  • BMW 5-Series E60 (2003 - 2009) - Problems after car "repaired". What can I do next? 31 Jul 2008 (Forum)
In the early 80's I had a Turbo fitted to a Golf Gti with a 6 month warranty. When the bearings failed after 2 months I was accused of putting dirty oil in it! A friend in the trade advised me to contact some Motor Trade Association which I did and it produced instant results.
  • Prius PHEV, circa 2017 to 2022 model. - Toyota prius braking system 8 Sep 2025 (Forum)
So as not to further disrupt another thread i've started this one. Depending on my work situation in the next few weeks/months our choices of vehicle(s) might change, having recently had a solar system fitted it would make most sense to have a plug in hybrid, i'll only consider Toyota or Suzuki badged (made by Toyota) hybrids, Prius Plus PHEV would be better for us but are usually snapped up by taxi operators.

  • Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe - Help! This is complicated.. 10 Jun 2024 (Forum)
I hadn’t involved my insurance for the merc as I didn’t want the claim to make the new policy more expensive, and am stuck as to how to fit all the pieces together without losing too much money I don’t have.   I just need an i****s guide to the best steps to take regarding getting rid of the merc, whether to inform insurance and get it written off, how to just sc*** it without ID, or what to do with it. I’m sort of resigned to having to wait for my licence, but still don’t know whether to go through insurance or not.
  • Sub £3k Petrol Estate vs Petrol MPV 3 Mar 2024 (Forum)
For example, Ford C-max vs Focus estate, is one better for load carrying than the other? Are Zafira's any good? Are bigger MPV's like the S-Max and Alhambra uneconomical as petrols? Are Peugeot or Citroen estates/MPV's worth a punt or are they danger territory in the £3k range? It was a minefield of a search when I had just one or two models to look at, now I'm extending it to dozens of potential vehicles I'm a bit overwhelmed.
  • 2022 Range Rover 30 Oct 2021 (Forum)
I'm not sure that any vehicle in this price range, sold in the UK (otherwise i would say the Lexus LX570 beats it) that offers the same combination of S-Class comfort levels with Defender off-road ability - Range Rovers as the flagship are always benchmarked against the Defender. Now, if only they could sort out the reliability. If they did, it would quite possibly be the best car on sale at the price point, but they won't.
  • Peugeot 2008 1.2 130 EAT6 Allure Premium - The first thousand miles 3 Jan 2020 (Forum)
And even 5th gear is 25mph per 1000 revs, 5mph more than the manual 5th gear in a rorty revvy 80hp 1.2 Pug 208 we hired recently on hols.  For overtaking you can press the S button to drop down a gear, or just floor it and it goes like a rocket, spooling rapidly to smooth 6000 rpm change-ups. Petrol consumption is disappointing, though probably as expected from a tight new engine tuned for power rather than economy.
