  • Alternatives to Motorway Service Areas 25 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Having an aversion to Motorway Service Areas, can anyone suggest a website or publication which lists alternative eating establishments within a few minutes of motorway junctions? I like motorways for driving, but feel that the service areas leave much to be desired. I have used "5 minutes away" but am not happy with it.
  • Clio III/Megane II 4 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Shockingly my local dealer doesn't have any Megane's to test drive! Has anyone driven both a Megane and a new Clio and would be able to compare for me? (I know it's not ideal, but if the Megane is thought to be decent, I'll make the hour journey to the second-closest Renault dealer...)
  • Peugeot 306 Gear Lever Wobbles 2 Apr 2007 (Forum)
I recently bought my first car, a Peugeot 306 1994 XL 1.6, and the gear lever and linkage wobbles, both in neutral and in gear, and even when I'm driving the car. This has me worried, and was wondering if anyone knows of anyway that I can stop this, or what is wrong. Thanks

  • Mobile phones in-car use 24 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Just been announced that from February 27th the fine for using a handheld mobile phone whilst driving will double to £60, plus three licence penalty points. If this proves as effective as current ineffectiveness on stopping this practice I'm not holding my breath. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - What\'s for you won\'t pass you by

  • Mazda bongo anyone? 31 Oct 2006 (Forum)
I am looking at one of these as a low cost camper, and tehy seem to driev pretty well, though there are some obvious compromises compared to a larger van. They drive well, corner OK and will fit down narrow lanes. But what are they like to own? Any experiences, good and bad????
  • Police mini vans are back in service 14 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Driving N bound on the A34 just now I saw a new Mini on a transporter, with the rear side windows covered over with vinyl, and the logo of Hampshire Police on the vivyl and a Police Community Support Officer sticker on the rear bumper.

  • Daft Design Honda 19 Jul 2006 (Forum)
I know there are clear warnings in the owners manual but have you tried driving a manual Honda (or any other make) with the aluminium gear knob when the car has been sat in this weather. Blimey it burns - does anyone know where I can get drivers style oven gloves ? - the ones with the holes on the back.

  • Leon 1.6 Misfire 11 Apr 2006 (Forum)
For example, coming off a roundabout in 3rd or taking a sharp left hand turn on a slight gradient, the engine is missing until reaching 2000 revs. It hasn't done this before, driving in similar style. What is the most likely fault?

  • Is this cheap? 26 Feb 2006 (Forum)
The car has full VW dealer service history, 3 months parts and labour warranty and full HPI report. The only problem is it has 112 000 miles on the clock. Should I invest a 3 hour drive to go and see this vehicle?
  • Millau Bridge 29 Jan 2006 (Forum)
An amazing technical achievement, but the eye-opener was when they wanted to test the load-bearing limits - they had 27 lorries,(900 tons weight)drive on to the centre span to see if it would deform..I wonder what inducement they offered to the drivers? P.
  • Dodgy number plates 22 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Saw a (Presumably) new white van driving up the M5 this pm. I was on cruise control at 78, he went past like I was standing still. Maybe 99? Registration number "DEL M1LES" How do they get away with it? OK, OK, I know the answer. Don't depress me further.
