    A 1957 BMW 507 Roadster that used to belong to racing legend John Surtees is going under the hammer. The car, which was owned by the only man to win titles on both two and four wheels, is going under the hammer at Goodwood Festival of Speed on 13 July. Auctioneers Bonhams reckon it could fetch up to £2.2m.

    A 1968 Ferrari 365 GTC Coupé sold for €805,000 (£719,021) at auction over the weekend. The car – effectively a closed version of the 275GTS, it was designed and built by Pininfarina. Power came from a 4.4-litre 320bhp version of Ferrari’s V12. This car came with an original sales brochure and is one of 150 made.

    Haynes Publishing is launching an online video service to help drivers perform basic servicing work on their cars – and potentially saving them hundreds of pounds. The firm, which is well known for its range of workshop manuals, has now created a range of step-by-step videos. The videos cover a range of the UK’s most popular vehicles and can be viewed on mobile, tablet or desktop.
  • Fiat, Jeep and Alfa Romeo models now available with scrappage discounts 4 Sep 2017 (News)
    Fiat Chrylser Automobiles (FCA) will give owners of older, pre-Euro 5 cars as much as £5300 off Fiat, Abarth, Alfa Romeo and Jeep models. The offer runs through September 2017 and is available on 13 different models across the four brands. The scrappage offer is not available in conjunction with any other offers.

    James Knight, group motoring chairman at Bonhams, said, ‘Cars with significant historical and racing provenance were the most popular lots of the day, such as Captain Sir Malcolm Campbell’s 1913 Talbot 15hp, which achieved £169,500.’ Rally car enthusiasts were spoilt for choice at the sale.

    But the biggest seller was a 1963 Jaguar E-Type ‘barnfind’ that fetched £66,000. The car, which attracted 12 phone bidders and plenty of interest from the floor, was a dust-covered manual Series 1 fixedhead coupe. It sold for more than double its upper estimate. Other strong sellers included a 2006 Porsche 911 (997) 3.6 Turbo (a UK car with a manual gearbox) for £33,880 while a 2007 Aston Martin V8 Vantage with just 15,000 miles on the clock sold for £39,600.
  • Vauxhall Heritage collection to open its doors in June 4 May 2016 (News)
    Cars from Vauxhall’s Luton-based Heritage Centre will be on show to the public for one day only in June. The doors to the 73-vehicle collection, which contains classics from every decade since the company started building cars in 1903, will be opened on Sunday, 12 June.

  • 70 cars for sale at NEC restoration show 4 Mar 2016 (News)
    A total of 70 cars will go under the hammer this weekend at the NEC restoration show. The lots will be sold by Silverstone Auctions on Sunday, 6 March. Top billing goes to a limited edition 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0, one of only 600 examples made and the last of the Mezger-engined Porsches.
  • 1961 Jaguar E-Type Late Entry in Historics Auction on Saturday 27 Nov 2015 (News)
    One of the first 1961 Jaguar E-Type 'flat floor' 3.8 litre coupes is a late entry in Historics auction at Mercedes Benz World, Brooklands on Saturday 28th November. Offered at no reserve, the car, built in 1961 and first registered in 1962, was stripped, rebuilt and converted to a right hand drive car by the current owner who purchased it in California   Inspired by the docu-drama 'Across the Lake', about Sir Donald Campbell (played by Anthony Hopkins) i n which Hopkins drives a blue 1961 Jaguar E-type FHC, the vendor restored this car to emulate Campbell's.
