What & where to get quality brand Dexron III 15 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Can anyone tell me what is a good quality brand of Dexron III transmission fluid ? we have several automatic cars at home, and I wanted to change hte fluid on a regular basis to prolong the life of the gearboxes, as its simple to do. Halfords only sell Comma Dexron III in decent sized (5litre) bottles. -
Rover 400 (1995 - 1999) - 95 1600 (Honda ?) leaking oil 25 Jan 2008 (Forum)
I recently just brought an 1995 Rover 416sli automatic , Honda engine from my understanding . Its got 59000 on the clock and was driving well and still does to some extent . Trouble is that oil has started leaking from the engine . I am scared as to what problem it can be because if its extensive I wont be able to afford to repair it . -
Auto. Car for under £1500 5 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Hi, I have around £1500 to spend on a car. It MUST be automatic and I'd prefer a hatchback over a saloon. Something with a little bits of guts too...I don't want any 1L cars. If I can get one with less than 750000miles too, that would be great. Two cars that I'm looking at the moment are: 1. 2000 Nissan Almera 3dr hatch 1.8SE 60000miles. -
Mercedes Benz C-Class W202 (1993 - 2000) - 97 C180 Auto, Misfire when cold 21 Dec 2007 (Forum)
I just bought a Mercedes C180 automatic, when starting in the morning it is very sluggish. The first 3 times you start it cuts off straightaway, then the tickover is lumpy and the engine misfires. If you put your foot on the gas pedal it sometimes does not rev up. -
Citroen ZX (1992 - 1998) - Dim Dip relay problem 19 Sep 2007 (Forum)

Audi A6 2.5 TDI locking problem 29 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Could it just be a bad socket connection or I suspect there may be a system where in the event of an accident, the central locking would unlock all doors automatically upon impact and there may be a problem with such a system. I do not know where the central locking module is in this car. Any ideas would be appreciated. Regards, Michael -
Vauxhall Astra Head Gasket problem 23 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Hello all, I bought a automatic X-reg Vauxhall Astra from an independent dealer back in March which included a 3 month warranty from the garage. Unfortunately today the head gasket has gone, I know nothing about cars so don't know if this is something that I've done or could've prevented but it's too late now anyway! -
Dodgy radio sound-Factory fit Passat R/C 7 May 2007 (Forum)
In the book it says something about a setting for recognising speech and music and altering something automatically, but I couldn't understand what it was supposed to do or how to turn it off. Did I read it right? Is it the problem or is the radio knacked? Help please. thanx ---------------------------------------------- Aim low, expect nothing & dont be disappointed -
Signum - good choice ? 11 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I am a great believer in buying a good spec "old model" prob c. 2+ years old when most (no - not all) of the initial depreciation has been taken taken by the previous owner(s). I have been considering a Signum automatic with Elite spec. and would appreciate any comments and experiences of this model from others on the Forum. The Signum has never had rave reviews and not liked by motoring journalists but to me it appears a very practical motor with a great spec. and good reliability which can be had for reasonable money. -
Replacement for Forester 1 Oct 2006 (Forum)
I don't need nor want a large vehicle, even though I can afford to buy/run one. My needs are at least four doors and automatic. As my Forester has heater leathed seats, climate and cruise control I would want to replicate these as I find them all helpful. So I am thinking of.... Audi A3 Sportback BMW 1-series Volvo S40/V50 Not certain I want a Merc A or B-class - am I right to dismiss these despite the fact I like sitting higher, as in the Forester. -
Replacement for Volvo 760 estate 22 May 2006 (Forum)
Must be a large estate for carrying her music equipment around, trips to garden centres and ferrying 'all those old people around'. 2. Automatic tramsmission. 3. Climate control and sunroof 4. No diesels. 5. Nothing French or Italian. 6. She only does 6K a year. 7. She's a bit of a badge snob. (Yes I know how silly this is) 8. Leather interior. 9. -
ignition system current starvation 14 Feb 2006 (Forum)
I have narrowed it down to a weak spark, which is orangey yellow in appearence. The bike has no kick start lever and cannot be bump started because it is automatic. It has electronic ignition ie. no contact breakers and I have checked everything else, like the coil, plug, HT lead, earths, etc etc but NOT the battery. The bike cranks well and all the lights are also ok. -
gap between brake and gas pedal 25 Oct 2005 (Forum)
It's and auto, and when I press the brake pedal, the edge of my shoe sometimes is almost touching the left edge of the gas pedal. I must have driven 100 different automatics from small cars to luxury cars, and it's never been a problem. Ok, I have big shoes (size 12), now I have to be conscious when driving of pivoting my foot slightly over to the left when braking. -
9-5 or Legacy wagon? 17 Oct 2005 (Forum)
Haven't seen a word said against the new Legacy wagon, although there aren't many about nearly-new, esp automatics, and those that I've seen are more dosh than the Saab. Anyone got experience of either? I'm not bothered about absolute load carrying capacity, more about seat comfort (Saab seats are fabulous) and general relaxing 'waftability'. -
Drum Brakes - Ford Ka 5 Oct 2005 (Forum)
I replaced the shoes and thought the problem must be sorted. After several failures / restests I finally figured out that a spring on the automatic adjusters had stretched and was stopping the adjuster working correctly. I manually adjusted the shoes and the brake passed (hand and foot) with flying colours. The original problem was the shoes - I just created a new one by not recognising the inpact of the damaged spring. -
What Car ? 17 Sep 2004 (Forum)
Can anyone suggest what cars i can consider, i have only ever owned Fords, but i've finally had enough of them. I have got to have an automatic because of medical reasons. Am i right in staying away from the Rover 620? or any Rover for that reason. I have been looking in the autotrader mag and site, and it appears to be the same handfull of cars for sale. -
Value Please 10 Jun 2004 (Forum)
It has around 84,000 miles on it and all the usuals you'd expect from a Ghia such as electric windows, temperature display, rev counter, c/l sunroof etc etc.. The car was an automatic but then a very good engineer friend converted it to manual and it's been fine. Also, apart from the documented minor problems with the car (a quick forum search will tell you!) it is mechanically sound. -
Smart Street Lamps 16 Jan 2004 (Forum)
If there's an accident, accelerometers can alert the network to the crash, before it turns into a multiple vehicle pile-up. Other vehicles rushing towards the scene can be automatically notified, and a new speed limit imposed within a fraction of a second of the accident happening" Seems like a reasonable idea to me. -
406, driving like clutch in half on ??? 6 Jul 2003 (Forum)
The plugs look ok... and once the initial revs and slackness pass the car can still achieve acceleration. I also liken it to driving a big automatic ( 5 litre Mustang) in the States, when you put your foot down you get an initial high roar of revs before the engine kick in. Any thoughts ? Pip -
omega problems? I'm not sure! 12 May 2003 (Forum)
Hello to you all, I hope you can help me...... Does anyone have an OMEGA 2.5 TURBO DIESEL AUTOMATIC and if so can you tell me if the problem Im having occurs with your car, the reason I ask is one person tells me its right, and another tells me its wrong... Ahhhhhhhhhh ! THE PROBLEM - when driving at all various speeds the car handles a treat until you take your foot off of the accelerator, then the rev counter immediatley drops back down to idle speed (around 700 rpm) and there appears to be no engine braking at all, Down hills especially with foot covering brake pedal it feels like car is in "n" position and coasting.
