  • Deposit on used car deal 14 Aug 2005 (Forum)
Hi all, need a bit of advice on getting a deposit back on a car my parents have not (yet) bought! They saw a 2002 Renault Espace 2.2 DCi advertised locally and took a look. After a testdrive, they decided to put a deposit (£100) down on it. It was up for £8995 and was haggled down to £8400* on the promise that all that needed doing to it would be fixed.

  • Time to choose another car 19 Oct 2023 (Forum)
I average around 56mpg on the motorway, and do very little town driving.  The other car in the family is a Renault Captur, which I enjoy driving but it's not been reliable unfortunately, as it doesn't like periods of not being driven, e.g. 3 weeks between being used. My wish-list includes: Good fuel economy at motorway speeds Must be reliable car, cheap to run, and easy to obtain and fit parts Boot big enough for 2 large suitcases Must have space for a full-size or space-saver spare wheel, the foam stuff is useless if the tyre gets shredded on the motorway at midnight.
  • Citroen C3 Aircross - Hire Car 22 Apr 2023 (Forum)
This seems to be a very French thing, but the cruise control buttons were strangely laid out and hidden in a stubby stalk behind the steering wheel.  It's the same on our Renault, except they hide the radio buttons on those. 4.  The ride and handling is extremely weird.  Somehow both crashy and floaty with 1980s style understeer. Probably one for the school run and shopping, as long as you've got flippers for hands.

  • What to choose for long motorway trips? 16 Mar 2021 (Forum)
I’m thinking of spending £8000 - £10000 on a used car, and it needs to be reliable, reasonable running and servicing costs and sufficiently powered and comfortable for motorway driving. I've had a look at the Renault Captur, would you recommend it?    Thanks

  • Used Hyundai ix20 - dealer or franchise? 9 Sep 2018 (Forum)
My S-i-L wants me to help her find a new car.  She currently drives our old Renault Modus and after seeking advice on here and elsewhere the consensus is the ix20 should be ideal.  She is going to her local dealer tomorrow for a test drive to be sure it ticks all the boxes (high driving position, good boot space and capable of seating 4).
