Swinton No Insurance Penalty for Points 17 May 2007 (News)
Drivers with six points or more on their license looking for insurance could soon be viewed as 'standard' rather than 'non-standard' says Swinton, the UK's largest high street insurance broker. Pointed drivers are no longer automatically penalised at Swinton as a result of the increase in the number of motorists now saddled with penalty points. And the move reflects a change in attitude by the insurance industry as the estimated number of pointed motorists tops 6 million*. -

A 14k mile 2002/52 Hyundai 2.7 V6 coupe with a noisy hydraulic tappet bid to £12,000; a 54k mile 2000X Trajet 7-seater automatic bid to £5,925, while a rust-free 55k mile 2000V Sonata 2.5V6 looked a lot of car for just £3,400. A pair of 6 cylinder Jag XJs made £5,500 for the 87k mile 96P 4.0 Sovereign (which had some fresh paint) and £3,900 for the 99k 95N 3.2 auto. -

Amongst a mixed bag of Black Horse returns and repossessions, a 10k mile 02 reg Fiesta 1.4TDCI Zetec without a/c sold for £5,350; a 67k mile 96P Daihatsu Fourtrak 2.8 TDX SE sold for £6,400, a rare and rising 91k mile 92K Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth with cloth seats sold for £4,350 and a 92k mile unwarranted 87D Volvo 340GL sold for all of £10. -

Fuel consumption is less than 3 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres in the new European driving cycle (NEDC), which corresponds to CO2 emissions of less than 80 g/km. The system allows spontaneous starting when the combustion engine is shut off (automatic start-stop system). The electric drive bridges the time needed for starting and torque build-up. As well as this, it compensates the traction interruption caused by the system during gear shifting. -
New Face for BMW 3 Series 29 Jun 2001 (News)
Fuel economy is 51.4mpg in the EU combined cycle and the 320d will also be available for the first time with a 5-speed automatic gearbox. Across the range improvements include revised suspension settings and a quicker steering rack as first applied to the Compact range and 330i models from April. Air conditioning will also be standard on all 3-Series except the 316i Compact. -

In a sale of part-exchanges at BCA Blackbushe today, bidding for the car in the photo opened at £200 and ended at £375. A 134,546 mile 94M didn't do much better. -

A 100,000 mile 97R base spec 520i manual with a/c sold for £7,950; a 37,000 mile 98R 523iSE manual sold for 14,000; an 83,000 mile 97R 528iSE auto sold for £12,300; a 117,000 mile 97P 528iSE manual bid to £8,550 and a 64,000 mile 97R 528iSE auto sold for £13,000 and a 30,000 mile 2000W 528i Sport automatic bid to £24,800. There is still no such thing as a cheap Focus with an 82,000 mile 99T 1.8 Ghia on steel wheels running all the way to £6,525. An 11,000 mile 2000W Cougar 2.5 sold for £11,950 and a 17,000 mile 2000W Puma Milenium 1.7 sold for £10,525. -

This seems like a bit more car for your money than the 626 did. A high mileage very well equipped Rover 75 2.5 Connoisseur SE automatic on a 99T with a new ticket and an LPG conversion made over book as well. Glass said £1,840 and it went for £2,550. This was exactly the same amount as an eBay favourite: the diesel Pajero. -
