  • First Car help 16 Mar 2018 (Forum)
Hello I am hoping that somebody will be able to help me out as I don’t know anything about cars and don’t want to make a mistake when buying my first car. My budget is £4000 and needs to be an automatic and in insurance group 10 or below. I did narrow my options down to a Honda jazz 1.4 cvt or Nissan Micra 1.2/1.4 I have found examples of both with only 30000. Does any body have experience of driving these cars and if so which would they reccomend or is there any other cars that anybody would reccomend I don’t really want anything above a 1.4 as the insurance estimates for both jazz and micra are £2000.
  • What car to buy my mum? 15 Jan 2018 (Forum)
Ideally it would be economical to run, to fix and to tax. She does a fair amount of motorway driving as well as around town. It has to be an automatic, and I’m slightly nervous about her having anything more punchy than a 1.4l engine. She’s not as confident behind the wheel as she used to be. I don’t know much about cars and was hoping someone could give me some good advice on what to go for?

  • Next car debate 1 Dec 2017 (Forum)
I'm looking to spend upto £20K on my next set of wheels. I'm looking for: Reliability, Comfort, Effortless drivability, Diesel or Petrol Hybrid, Automatic, Economical However, I'm gonna be working in North Yorkshire (quite a lot of country lanes) so was also contemplating 4x4. Well after watching various Youtube vids. Audi's Quattro seems far superior to any other 4x4.

The Road Traffic Offenders (Additional Offences) Order 2017 Coming into force 5th April 2017 This Order amends section 20 of the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988 which allows records from prescribed devices, such as Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras, to be used as evidence in proceedings for certain offences. • Vauxhall Omega - Accelerator return spring. 29 Sep 2016 (Forum)
The hand control rods are fitted to the brake and accelerator pedals close to the pivot points.  Just like any other automatic the car creeps when the brakes are off. The hand control to accelerate is pulled upwards allthough the conecting rod to pedal actualy presses down on the pedal arm but I find the action very stiff and the car jumps forward instead of picking up speed smoothly.
  • AEB braking systems 8 Aug 2016 (Forum)
I have read elsewhere that some of these Automatic/Autonomous Emergency Braking systems on lorries have applied full emergency braking when triggered falsely by road signs/fence posts on bends and other conditions.                           Some systems are evidently supposed to flash a warning to the driver and only apply brakes if he doesn't react by a dab on the brakes but don't always.

Hi, I have a mercedes s320, automatic, year 2000 with 110500 miles on the clock. It is a great car but recently failed on me. It looses power under high eceleration (ie, going up hills) It smokes heavily and is burning oil at a high rate.
  • Any thoughts about the BMW 2.0i engine? 16 Dec 2015 (Forum)
The dealers seem far keener to sell diesels, but after five noisy diesel cars in a row I love my current petrol Octavia vRS, and I really don't want another diesel. The signs were very good in the automatic 220i I tried: the transmission didn't seem to sap the performance, and the strong torque that is such a feature of the Octavia seemed to be there too, although a 225i might be even better. And it was beautifully quiet and refined.

  • Car suggestions 10 Dec 2014 (Forum)
Although not the best to look at and apart from being the victim of someone keying the car, it has been really reliable and pass mots no problem. and revelative cheap on petrol. Now I want to get a larger car with 5 doors and manual not automatic currently do approx 350 miles a week but that may increase soon as a job im a training for will involve visiting clients houses. so economical on petrol I have about £2000 maybe a little more although car insurance is still pricey at £650 a year.
  • 2007 Ford Focus TDCi - Electric Windows Auto Up 27 Nov 2014 (Forum)
The switch is two steps down, two steps up, so a slight push (one click) allows me to manually operate them, while a full push (two clicks) makes them go down all the way on their own, the same for up (1 click = up manually, two click = up automatically all the way). Since the battery was changed, the windows don't go up on their own anymore, only one-click works. is this a simple fix, i.e. do I need a new relay/fuse/solenoid, or is this deeper seated?
