Aladdin’s cave of 60 classics worth £12m unearthed in France 7 Dec 2014 (News)
A barn find collection of more than 60 classic cars worth £12 million will go under the hammer at auction next year. The collection, which ranges from the early days of motoring through to the 1970s, has been left untouched for 50 years. Bugatti, Hispano-Suiza, Talbot-Lago, Panhard-Levassor, Maserati, Ferrari, Delahaye, Delage – the collection includes cars from all these famous marques. -
London gears up for classic spectacular 29 Oct 2014 (News)
Cars on display in Regent Street will range from the earliest pioneering vehicles in the history of the motor car through to some of today’s most futuristic designs. Jaguar to build new lightweight E-type specials 13 Aug 2014 (News)
The cars will be sold as period competition vehicles and all will be suitable for FIA homologation for historic motorsport purposes. The new cars are the 'missing' six vehicles from the 'Special GT E-type' project, which originally started in February 1963 with the objective of building 18 cars. -
Ford Model A sets new world record 10 Jun 2014 (News)
An Australian classic car owner has set a new world record for driving across Australia and back again in a pre-WWII car. Rod Wade, aged 71, and his team covered 5592 miles in a 1930 Ford Model A in a fundraising challenge for Kidney Health Australia. -

Diesel Particulate Filters to be Tested in MoT from February 6 Dec 2013 (News)
This has led to some diesel vehicle owners opting to remove the filter, which makes their car illegal for road use. DPFs of HGVs are regularly cleaned by the Ceramex process that restores their functionality to more than 90%, and this service is now being offered to car owners via Unipart and Alliance Car Centres and is on trial at six branches of KwikFit. -
Stunning lots line up for RM and Sotheby's new sale in Manhattan 8 Nov 2013 (News)
RM Auctions has confirmed that its new Art of the Automobile sale and exhibition, which takes place at Sotheby's New York in Manhattan, will featuring one of the most significant car collections to be offered in auction history. The catalogue spans a Brewster-built Vanderbilt family carriage to one-off Bugatti Veyron, and 18 of the 21 cars on offer are expected to fitch more than one million dollars. -

The news will be a welcome relief to Lotus, which over the past few years has suffered a series of embarrassments. There was the 2010 Paris Motor Show where the firm unveiled not one, but five new cars, all with groundbreaking technology, as part of a five year plan. Unsurprisingly those ambitious plans haven't made it to fruition, although the manufacturer is still working on one of those cars - the new Esprit - pictured above. -

Upgrades - as well as the new body - included a five-speed gearbox, power steering and Harvey Bailey handling kit, all of which might put off the originality freak, but which makes the car a whole lot more usable in the real world - and it did reflect in the less than top-end price. Other cars that scored well included a nicely restored 1975 Jensen Interceptor III Mk4 at £23,500, which is a solid performance for a car on its way up in the market place. -
