  • Cars on forecourt for more than a year 19 Oct 2008 (Forum)
I thought that the general practice or best business practice was to get rid of cars that had not sold after a number of days for the best possible price even if it meant making a loss on that particular car? Is there any reasons why a dealer would want to keep such old stock?
  • SORN my second car? 11 May 2020 (Forum)
Still insured. It was my intention to sell my second car car, but I am not sure what to do about that. It is an old car, so I will probably get £600 for it. It is handy, in case my main car breaks down..... For peace of mind, don't mind paying the insurance.

  • Is now a bad time to buy a car? 30 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I am currently car less as I have sold my old one. I heatr about all these new schemes designed to encourage us to buy new cars. I have £1500 to spend. I am worried if I buy one now in 3 months time these new easy loans will send the price of older cars tumbeling if new ones are much cheaper to get hold off.
  • Registration out by one digit on car insurance 2 Oct 2008 (Forum)
My wife totalled our brand new car last week. It is now an insurance write off. Good old Plod turned up on the scene and issued the usual producers. Turns out that our car insurance has ONE digit wrong for our car registration and plod believes that we were not covered.
  • Why do my insurance co ask car's value? 21 Feb 2007 (Forum)
I was asked questions like "Do you still do 10,000 miles per year?" and so on. But the thing that puzzled me is that I was asked how much my car was worth. They know what kind of car it is, and how old it is, so they will have a reasonable idea of its market value. They can hardly expect all their customers to the current market value of their cars.
  • Front Wing Mirrors 23 Jun 2003 (Forum)
Also, looking at cars around now, it shows how much aerodynamics have came on that very few cars now could actually support these mirrors due to the slope of bonnets and wings! Cars of old must have been very boxy!

  • Honest John's Motoring Agony Column 04-05-2019 Part 1 14 May 2019 (Forum)
The VW system was done on the cheap and so is very poor, the BMW system in the i3 uses a camera and so fails whenever the sun is out! Lexus first fitted ACC to its cars more than 15 years ago, and the system still works perfectly on 15 year old Lexus cars. There is a reason that German cars don’t show the same reliability.......
