  • Berlingo Multispace HDi MPG Variations 21 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Does any body have any thoughts on why MPG on my Multispace HDi should vary from 30 to 45 over a few months, not as a steady decrease but haphazardly? OK its a 2450 mile second car, 6 months old but is that it? Would good hard everyday driving sort it? Or is this a common HDi problem?
  • honda aircon drain 27 Aug 2005 (Forum)
A friend with a 4 yr old Honda Civic reports that every evening his chores include the removal of a fuse from the car. If he doesn't do this he ends up with a flat battery in the morning, he says that the RAC advised him that the fuse was in the a/c circuit.
  • Seat Arosa Exhaust Warning Lamp 6 Jun 2005 (Forum)
The exhaust emissions warning lamp has occasionally stayed illuminated for a full day's driving on my 6 month old Seat Arosa 1.0. The car drives just as well as before. Does anyone know what exactly the waraning lamp means and is a visit to the dealer service department really urgently required as stated in the manual.

  • Focus Clutch Bite-Point 29 Oct 2004 (Forum)
My wife has a 14 month old Focus which is a great car generally. However the one thing that annoys me when I drive it is the high point of engagement of the clutch, compared to most other card I drive. I know the focus (1.6 Zetec) has a hydro clutch, but is it possible to adjust this bite-point at all ?
  • FSI High oil consumption - Catalyst ? 13 Sep 2004 (Forum)

  • Guess the penalty 16 Aug 2003 (Forum)
A piece in the local newspaper I thought interesting. 20 year old lad, gets stopped for doing 93mph in a 60mph limit after trying to outrun a marked police car. He admits that not only does he have no insurance, he does not even have a driving licence. What do you think he got when it ended up in court?
  • Hazards. 28 Feb 2003 (Forum)
As I was tootling along, tailgating and entering corners too fast and in the wrong gear this weekend I pondered on hazards that I treat with paticular respect. I decided that my top two most respected junction hazards were a) Pub Car Parks (Obvious) b) Garden Centres. (Old People) Discuss. -- These are my own opinions, and not necessarily those of all Toads.
  • Pug 306 alarm problem... 27 Jan 2003 (Forum)
When I set the alarm and the indicators flash once, the passenger side indicators just stay on....Ive tried the old tricks like slamming the door and setting and re-setting the alarm but it just stays on......Ive had to pull the fuse on a couple of occasions and that leaves my car open to all sorts of thieving scum!!
  • HDI engine stalling easily 25 Dec 2002 (Forum)
Has anybody had a problem with Citroen Peugeot HDI 90 engines stalling easily? The car has been back to the dealer whose diagnostics found nothing wrong. They tightened the turbo pipe. (2002 Picasso HDI, 2 months old) Do HDI engines repond differently to different brands of diesel?
  • plastic trim 29 Oct 2002 (Forum)
My 6 year old seat toledo has a fair amount of coloured (silver) exterior plastic trim. The paintwork on the car is fine, but I have noticed that parts of the plastic trim have deteriorated . The surface has started to flake a little, am I right in thinking that the laquer is beginning to come adrift/deteriorate?
  • damaged leather seat 27 Jul 2002 (Forum)
Help, managed to spill some wonder wheels wheel cleaner on my leather front passenger seat (car 6 months old), it has of course removed a couple of small but very noticable areas of colour. Does anyone know of a company that can refurbish a small area. Have yet to try the jag dealer. Many thanks.

  • Volkswagen Golf - Finding a Good Independent Garage? 21 Nov 2019 (Forum)
My 4 year old VW Golf GT broke down last week.    The part they claim was at fault costs around £80. However, it takes 5 hours to fit with dissembling the car etc. The main dealership I went to charges over £100 per hour for technician labour and so with two lots of diagnostics to find the fault and a few fixtures, the job cost me just under £700.

  • Rover 620 gsi 1993 - rover 620 gsi abs light on 7 Mar 2018 (Forum)
The garage i use has said it might be one of the four abs sensor rings, or anything abs related. The car had an abs pump/modulator replaced a few years ago, so hopefully that has not gone again.   The garage said for the front sensors its better just to replace the cv joint instead of trying to get old one off and a new one on.
  • Any - Scrappage - French style 11 Jan 2018 (Forum)
As part of its “Climate Plan” the French government has launched a scrappage scheme for older vehicles to encourage motorists to trade up to newer cleaner replacements. Your old car (or van) must have been registered before 1997 for petrol vehicles and before 2001 for diesel vehicles … so if introduced in UK probably wouldn’t take too many BR readers' cars off the road!
