  • VW Passat 1.9 tdi - VW Passat 2005 water in driver footwell 11 Jul 2017 (Forum)
I have recently found a great deal of water in the driver footwell. There doesn't appear to be any water under the battery, but there was a great deal of gung on either side of the drain away holes by the ECU and the pollen filter. I have cleared these out but noticed something I'm not sure about. There is a wire by the side of the drain holes attached to a sort of rubber ball...
  • Peugeot 207 CC - Recovery Service whilst carrying a pet 2 Jun 2017 (Forum)
My partners 207 CC broke down at the airport car park today. No steering ABS battery light, the works. Called Brittania Rescue and told them that there was two passengers and a dog. Waited over an hour for the first van arrived who declared the alternator had failed and the car needed recovering, but there may be a problem taking the dog.
  • 1998 1.6 automatic vw polo - 1998 vwpolo automatic cutting out and low revs. 20 Mar 2017 (Forum)
This morning I just cleaned the throttle body and put a new distributer cap and Roter arm and airfilter on it as it was having a problem with starting cold and low revs on idle. ( I left the battery terminals off for an hour and held down the break to reset the ecu after cleaning throttle body) After changing all of these out I took it for a 10minute drive, after 10minutes it started joulting then it wouldn't accelerate and died.
  • Not a fan of Fast Fit chains but......... 7 Dec 2016 (Forum)
At no point was I subjected to the usual "your car needs new shock absorbers and tyres, and the discs and pads have no life left" nonsense. Quite refreshing. Will definitely use them again for tyres, batteries, exhausts etc

'M' steering wheel. The only glitch is the stereo doesn't work (not sure why), though the trip computer etc all work perfectly.  Sell via an onlien forum or alternatively Auto Trader?
  • Renault scenic - Renault audio system pass code 22 Oct 2016 (Forum)
Hi all, I desperately need your help to resolve this issue. I recently changed the battery in my car and after powering up the car I could not operate the car audio system as it kept asking for the pass code which apparently i didn't have. All efforts to get it up and running has proved futile since then.

  • x type 2005 sports model 2l - Fix or Sell xtype 2005. New to forum 27 Jul 2015 (Forum)
It began cutting out under load and will restart. Also occasionally after a short journey it won't turn over although my battery has tested as good. A local garage has offered to replace my injectors for £450 and if my problems aren't solved they will put my old ones back in and charge £50 total. I paid £5,800 in 2006 and reckon it is worth around £1500 now.

  • Citroen Relay - Citroen Relay Alarm 16 Sep 2014 (Forum)
I have recently bought a 2011 relay from a citroen dealer, after buying it I organised a local security company to insttall an alarm for me as it didnt have one fitted, the alarm is an Autowatch 695,   When the installer was fitting it he couldnt get it to work and seemed to think there was something not right with the van's can bus, I returned the van to the dealer who said they checked the bsi for faults but only found something relating to a flat battery, The ecu was set to park mode so they changed it to customer mode and configered it for an alarm   after getting the van back the alarm installer tried to fit the alarm again but said it still won't work!!
  • Sony - car radio fitted...not ood 12 Sep 2014 (Forum)
I.E you can only have the radio on with the ignition sitched on. I as told all car radios ar like that now but it could be live wired but that would run the battery down all he time. I was told to sit with the ignition on to listen to the radio...is that a ood idea? I don't think so. I have contacted Mercedes and Sony who both reckon a radio should work in key position one.
  • W203 C200k M111 in 2001 - Mercedes C200k W203 - remote control problem 5 Sep 2014 (Forum)
In the past, I can unlock the car using the car key at least 10 feet away. I replaced the two button batteries CR2025 inside the key but no improvement. The above situation applies to both of the two car keys originally supplied by Mercedes.

  • Ford Fusion - 1.4tdci engine injector seals 12 Feb 2014 (Forum)
i have only one concern, that being the black/grey smoke from the exhaust which started instantly once i replaced the copper seals for the injectors.no smoke on tick over, only when the accelerate over 2000rpm approx..  does something need resetting? or battery disconnecting or something else??, as i presume their may still be excessive fuel going into the engine.   thanks in advanced mark
  • Nissan Qashqai Tekna - Qashqai auto level headlights 15 Aug 2013 (Forum)
One thing the salesman told us about the car when we picked it up was some numpty in the workshop had left the ignition in the wrong setting and drained the battery. Could this have caused it and it needs to be resynced or is a more serious problem? Hubby is sure it happened again tonight but it was dusk and couldn't really tell. Just tried them on the drive and they are high up and not pointing to the ground so seem ok at the moment.
  • Peugeot 406 - Radiator fans not cutting in 2 Aug 2013 (Forum)
This isn't a solution I'm happy with as there's always the risk of forgetting to turn the fan off and then returning to the car to find a flat battery.  More recently the air con compressor has gone West but I don't think the 2 are connected. I'm reluctant to take the car to another garage as it's already cost £160.  Has anyone any suggestions (other than scrapping the car)?
