Anyone know what the cause was - not by any chance someone braking for one of the new speed cameras? -
Have I been caught 22 Mar 2020 (Forum)
So a few nights ago I was coming out a junction to then proceed to go through another junction in the centre of the road in order for me to drive on the other side. Once I was on the other side I forgot there was a speed camera a little bit behind from there I turned. I am now worried about this because I wasn't sure what speed I was doing. I never actually went by the speed camera though. It was a little behind from where I was. -
Vauxhall Monaro (2004 - 2007) - Smile: you're on candid camera .... 11 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Interesting video here ... a Monaro owner took his car to his VX dealer to fix a coolant leak. The mechanics took it for a test drive to see if the leak... -
80 mph motorway speed limit 8 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Yet "CL", writing in HJ's Telegraph page yesterday ( "Statue of Liberty" ) has received a Notice for 79 mph on the M6 in Cumbria. Has anyone else ben done for exceeding 70? "CL" also indicates that there are speed cameras mounted on bridges. I have seen these but thought they were for flow control information. I have only seen small black ones. If speed cameras, shouldn't they be yellow? Do they flash? -
driving to Anglesea tomorrow 13 Jul 2008 (Forum)
I have to go from Liverpool to Anglesea tomorrow (saturday 12th July) - time will be of the essence, if I may describe my problem in delicate terms. Is it true they are hiding cameras in builders' vans and other strange locations now? I'm not so daft that I can't see a fixed camera, but are the limits confusing, ie do they go up and down arbitrarily and do they have wide dual carriageways restricted to 30, and so on... -
Big Brother Is Watching You 24 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Just noticed over last month a increase in camera locations being install around main routes A3 has new tower cameras at every turn up to Guildford from Tolworth and the M4 all the way into wales Is this the end of speeding ? Is this also because we were told Gps would be possible by 2007? -

Dazzling headlights and foglights 16 Feb 2008 (Forum)
And does anyone ever get prosecuted for inappropriate use of foglights? Perhaps HJ might know. I would have thought that was just the thing a camera could detect. I guess such cameras would be supported as strongly as speed cameras are detested - £60 fine, doubled in wet weather! -
PCN by post from remote camera operator 21 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Today I received by post a PCN including a moody colour photo of the car's rear number plate, of such good quality that filth is clearly visible on the bumper and rear door. It says that 'The alleged contravention was observed by camera operator number ******** '. Does waiting while deliveries are made constitute parking? And isn't a PCN supposed to be illegal unless stuck on the car or handed to the driver at the time? Apart from oaths and insults, does anyone have a suggestion as to how my letter of refusal should be phrased? -
Inconsiderate Speed Camera parking 18 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Traffic caught up as buses were unable to get into the small laybay, hence stopping in the road. 2 operators inside with the cameras pointing through the rear windows. This morning passed another one, this time properly livered up, but stopped at the bottom of a steep hill (to no doubt catch the people who don't gear brake going downhill) which happens due to the bend in the road, not to be visible from the top. -
M 11 Money-earner 7 Jun 2001 (Forum)
The camera is a quarter of a mile or so after where the limit drops from 70mph to 50 mph. There are two lanes, plus a third one (outside) which is hatched off and therefore out of use. The road is straight but leads into a shallow bend a little further on which is safe for 70 mph+. -
A282 Dartford Crossing Speed Enforcement 4 Jul 2021 (Forum)
In the now closed thread on Enforcement of minor infractions somebody complained of being unjustly pinged for exceeding the 50 limit on the QE2 bridge. The gist of the gripe was that the camera angles were incapable of detection the infraction. Travelling that route on Friday I had the opportunity to check. Shortly after the M25 ends at J31 the speed limit drops to 50 together with a warning of enforcement by average speed cameras. -
Land Rover Discovery Sport HSE Luxury June 2015 - Navigation system - support for speed alert 17 Apr 2016 (Forum)
Have just bought an ex-demonstrator only to find out that the sat-nav does not support speed alert. Can I get a speed camera database added as POI's so I get alerts? My dealer says they don't know if this is possible. Is there anyone who can supply a suitable SD card with map and camera database pre-loaded? Or should I look at a standalone solution such as the Road Angel Gem+ or the Snooper DVR-4HD systems m- will they work with the heated windscreen? -
2010 hyandai ix35 diesel - hyandai ix35 problems 4 Mar 2016 (Forum)
I have a 2010 ix35, a few weeks ago the speedometer started being erratic going up and down when driving and stationary. Then about a week later my reverse camera stopped working, no camera or beeping sound. Then two days ago the sat nav started playing up, the location of my vehicle is always wrong and the arrow on the map does not move when I'm driving. I would be grateful if you could tell me if these things are connected and what the problem is. -
XC90 - How long do Points stay on Licence 24 Jun 2012 (Forum)
In July 2008 I got 3 pionts for going thru a red light. In March 2009 another 3 points for doing 63mph in a 60 limit (speed camera). I thought it was 3 years but I am being told by a friend it is 4 years.Reason for asking as haven driven thru the average speed camera on the M90 from Perth to Glasgow on almost a daily basis since they started at 40mph - went thru one section on Tuesday at around 50mph I reckon, so am expecting a letter. -
Cameras on M-Way Service Station "back roads" 2 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Watch out - they are fining you now for using these when you buy your parking ticket. I managed to get away with it today, but I have suspicion I was otherwise...
