  The fuse box in the engine bay has a large live terminal, can I use that to connect a spare battery and earth to a clean point in the engine bay? Is the likely hood that the existing battery is goosed having been discharged for so long? I do have a smat charge HD batter conditioner..   Cheers Chris

  I have just had a new battery fitted, the car being 15months old with 7500 on the clock.   I was told by the garage that the battery had been damaged because I had done too many short journeys and I gather this is because of the efficient dynamic system.

  I have had a persistent problem with the battery on my C-Max going flat after about 1 week when not usyed.  The car has been to the ford dealer a few times but they have not been able to find anything wrong.  We have had a new battery fitted but this made no difference.

  I do have an 'old' tracker fitted to my other car (MX5, connected to permanent +12v) but that plus the alarm will deplete the car's battery within 5 days. However, the MX5's battery is a fairly puny gel type, so it's not surprising. Maybe a normal wet-cell battery will do better ? Thanks Frank

  The AA have a gadget to do a report on the Battery and every time it comes back 'ok' So clearly there is something that is causing the battery to drain.? What have others experienced and been told by their Ford garage? as our local ford garage are CR@P .

  Both keys were acting up (requiring several presses/being very close to the car) when locking/unlocking remotely. So I replaced the battery in both myself. The key I usually use (and had it's battery replaced during at least 1 service) is fine. But the 'spare' was probably on it's original battery and possibly got completely flat. This still dosn't work even with a fresh battery.

  With winter well on the way, I think it might be time I gave my battery a bit of a boost. I do a lot of driving in the dark and its quite infrequent, 2 things which don't help the battery much. I got in it yesterday, after it had sat a few days (and was also bitter cold) and it didn't turn over with its usual enthusiasm.

  By doing this this codes & memories are retained while you change the battery. I have gone through the circuit diagram for the carlton & it would put power back to the ignition switch. Obviously, if you have a completely flat battery they have gone anyway but batteries usually lose 1 cell first, not enough volts/amps to start a motor but enough to retain memories.

  Does anybody know how to open up the key in order to replace the battery on a skoda key/remote control ? I'm proceeding with care, as the last time I replaced a Vag key it cost me £35 ! Bora - what Bora ?

  Hello, My 1930 Ford has a 6v battery. But there are no markings showing which terminal is + or - I know this is hard to believe. But there are no markings. Is there a way of finding out which is which using a multimeter or such like?

  Hi All, My 2nd hand car came with a few problems that are draining the battery. If i dont start the car in 2 or 3 days the battery will go flat. And nobody knows where the problem really comes from! The battery warning light appears in the dashboard and stays a while when started.

  Anybody had any problems with Lion batteries from euro carparts? Had mine for less than a year and it's exploded, they wont take back as they say alternator caused the fault so not covered under warranty.

  Not sure I would buy another next base cam  14 months old and the battery is goosed  Next base not interested in any Goodwill claim saying the recent heatwave would have caused the battery malfunction  Hmm strange that that a device designed to sit behind a windscreen in all weathers has a weak battery
