• Renault Clio II (1998 - 2001) - 2001 1.4 16v Engine Management Codes 12 Jan 2009 (Forum)
  My non Renault garage is trying this morning to sort out my 2001 1.4 16v > Clio which is running rough. The coils and plugs are fine. The ECU light > came on and two codes are showing:- 201 Polluntant & 202 Cat error. The > Lambna sensors on the cat are fine and the exhaust gases are normal.

  I don't do many miles (perhaps 100 per week) and very few long journeys. The most important considerations for me are low running costs (good mpg, low tax and cheap insurance). Not bothered diesel/petrol but something that could pull a small trailer occasionally would be helpful. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated because I'm completely lost at the moment!

  I'm definately no computer whizz, but today i'm having difficulty using the site, i can read about 2 pages and then when i select another page, the computer seems to freeze and if i try to go back after a few seconds a message appears about some dodgy script running and causing IE7 to slow down and i have to close the site and fire up again. Am i doing something wrong, probably, or are others having similar problems. This is occuring on both computers, but only on the HJ site.

  Looking to buy an 08 Nissan Note. The model is advertised as an 'S'. Having looked at several websites the Note model range runs in parallel with rest of Nissan range ie Visia, Acenta etc. Does anyone know when Nissan made this change and did they update the spec of the cars? Is it likely an 08 'S' model may actually be a lot older but had been sitting around unregistered?

  t tick-over properly and it?s drinking petrol. The tickover is very uneven and probably varies by 2-300 revs, running alright for a few seconds before rising and dropping. throttle setting is OK when driving. The garage who did the head say they can?t see why it?s doing it. Any thoughts please ? Alan

  I 've have the ecu read but this showed no fault. Ecu and steering transponder have been removed and tried on a similar vehicle and it runs ok. I'm aticipating a lot of conficting advice but any ideas would be appreciated

  I already knew because I had asked the manufacturers customer sevice people, but that dealer lost a sale as the apathy may run through the organisation. Do other BRers do their own reserch? Is this treatment of customers typical? Will the situation improve as sales fall?
• Volkswagen Golf IV (1998 - 2004) - 2001 2.0 Emissions light on 8 Oct 2008 (Forum)
  After checking under the bonnet I can see that whoever had it before me put in a non-standard fuel pressure regulator so I'm guessing that this is running too high? The regulator is adjustable. Are there any other causes why the light and fault keep occurring? Thanks

  So would it be ok to leave it say until the next service interval or will I end up burning something out in the long run ? Cheers

  Hi Have recently had problems with my MG ZS (diesel) in that the battery had been running down due to incorrectly connected accessories, fixed by an auto electrician. Now back on the road with a new battery but I now have a duff speedo. The needle doesn't move and the odometer and trip recorder stay on the current mileage.

  Need to crank much longer to start cold or hot; sometimes thinking it's not going to fire. Used to start on first revolution as you mentioned. Runs fine when started- no difference. Serviced in July by Nationwide Autocentre; does this test need Peugeot diagnostics? {moved to a stand alone post, away from the Renault Scenic posting}
• Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 05 1.6tdci engine rattle when cold 8 Aug 2008 (Forum)
  hi i recently bought a high (92k) focus 1.6 tdci have found it quite rattly on start up from cold is this normal? took it back to dealer and they changed the tensioner for outer belts but its still same runs fine when warm but as soon as its under load when cold it sounds like a bag of spanners hope you have some ideas cheers tommo
• Ford Escort (1993 - 2000) - 1995 1.6 Zetec Automatic - Hose leak 21 Jul 2008 (Forum)
  It's on the offside by the alternator and seems to connect in 4 ways: Engine, top and bottom of Rad and onto a metal pipe that runs along top of rad. There seems to have been some repair to it in the past. Question is how to get to the connections at top and bottom of Rad and engine. Do I have to take bumper off? Advice appreciated.
• FIAT Seicento (1998 - 2003) - water leak in driver's footwell 9 Jul 2008 (Forum)
  I know leaks can be notoriously difficult to find. I'm getting loads of water in the driver's footwell, I've run a hosepipe around the door seal and left tissues all around the door rubber overnight in the very heavy rain but they all stayed dry. I'm not losing water from the engine so it isn't the heater pipes.

  I had a "minor" service carried out on my car yesterday and they also replaced the rear brake pads ... cost £236 and they also stuck in a fuel additive £12.50 which to me is 2 bags of coal ... They didn't ask me if I had any running probs and Almera's are not known for injector fouling + I only had less than half a tank of juice to which to add the ad. How many cans of Gasoline Additive do they manage to flog in a week ... a month ... a year !!!

  hi my car smokes like hell black smoke not all the time just when accelerating hard when the turbo kicks it runs fine no loss in power and so on only when i first get in it when i set off it will judder slightly then wont do it all day i put some injector cleaner in it 2 weeks prior can anway provide me with the answer i need thanks

  Hi, My dads Y Reg micra has just had its air con recharged and now the 4 speed fan control only runs on the fastest speed, with or without the air-con on? Could the garage that did the recharge have done something to upset the fan control?? They say its unrelated and his new problem is a job for the main dealer....

  i have g-max lowering kit on 35mm springs fitted. there is no signs of rubbing of the wheels and the arches. car has been running fine for 6months up untill now! help would be much appriaciated! thanks.

  Last year the water pump bearing seized which cost 800 for new pump/cam belt , this week it started running rough and garage have checked spark plugs.ht leads, distributer cap which are all ok but theres low pressure in 4th cylinder so they think its either head gasket or the heads knackered . Estimated cost to fix 1200 quid if it needs a new head.

  I couldn't see where this might have come out from, but Haynes manual mentions fuel injection temperature sensor. If this has indeed fallen out would the car run OK? It seems to be fine, but fuel consumption is a bit more than I might expect ( low to mid 30's per gallon) Engine is ADR
