  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 1999 1.8i Mk1 Central locking problems 22 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Hi folks - I've got a central locking issue with my Mk1 (1999) 1.8i Focus Zetec - here are the symptoms : Remote locking/deadlocking - locks all doors except driver's door, then all automatically unlock immediately. Remote unlocking (all doors locked) - unlocks all doors except driver's door. Manual locking and unlocking (driver's side) - locks and unlocks all doors as normal. Manual deadlocking (driver's side) locks all doors, however driver's door can be opened from inside and unlocks all others (this shouldn't be possible) Manual locking (passenger side) - locks all doors except driver's door, then all automatically unlock immediately.
  • 4WD vs Traction Control/Quality Tyres 22 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Basically I am after a reliable hatchback or estate which is occupant safe, economical and comfortable to drive. Ideally automatic but not necessarily. Budget up to say £12000 or so. New/2nd hand fine. Fiesta/Polo too small. I do not drive fast or aggressively, but most of my driving (15000miles / year) is on B roads and country roads.
  • Mondeo auto starting problems 14 Apr 2003 (Forum)
The car is a 1997 Mondeo 2.0 GLX 16v automatic estate. It won?t start intermittently. Usually you can hear the starter motor solenoid click, but the starter motor doesn?t turn. The lights don?t dim, suggesting the starter motor?s contacts aren?

  • Kia Picanto - Kia Picanto 2017 (Mk2) SE Auto - Creep very slow 3 Feb 2024 (Forum)
I have recently purchased a 2017 Kia Picanto (mark 2) automatic. I find that when I try to move off in Drive the creep speed is extremely low if its there at all. I have to use the accelerator to move off. I briefly queried this with my local Kia dealer when the car was in to have a door seal fixed and they said it was a 'safety feature' for this model and year of car.

  • Reliable family car £5000 21 Mar 2022 (Forum)
We are family of 4, two kids, 5 and 2 yo. We are looking for a reliable family car. We used to have a honda jazz, 2013, automatic, which was brilliant from the technical aspects. No issues at all while having it. We sold it. The problem was .. it wasn't enough head room for ME:)), I'm too tall for this car :)). I thinking about Toyota verso, mid suv like toyota rav4, vw Touran. .. but I'm not sure which year, engines to avoid...
  • Mid Life Crisis Car 14 May 2021 (Forum)
I've always wanted a convertible so that I can feel the wind in my har - whilst I still have some hair!! I'm allowed a budget of £7k and my only stipulation is that the car must be an automatic. Given the age of the cars I'm likely to be looking at, I'm guessing a petrol will be a better prospect than a diesel. (The only car that I won't consider, and which comes up on an autotrader search, is a Smart Fourtwo).
  • Mercedes A Class Purchase Advice 29 Mar 2021 (Forum)
_nkw=ford+focus&_sacat=9801&_dmpt=Automobiles_UK&_odkw=&_osacat=9801">Ford Focus  1.1 Ecoboost Titanium but always promised myself something much nicer, the MB A Class seems to fit the bill. It would need to be automatic around a 2017 plate. Would I be doing the right thing upgrading, there are so many things that need doing around the house, but I keep telling myself I have worked hard all my life why not. Seen this one the other day can't afford it yet but gives you an idea what I am looking for.
  • Audi A5 auto boxes 13 Oct 2020 (Forum)
I am looking to replace my Saab convertible and am drawn to either a BMW 3 series coupe or an Audi A5. I would like to get an automatic. I know there are no real issues with BMW autos but I am unsure about the Audi. It seems some have the Multitronic gearbox and some the S-tronic. I understand that the S-tronic is the DSG box and the Multitronic a stepped CVT.
  • Peugeot 508 e-hdi - French e-HDI gearboxes and class action lawsuit? 5 Sep 2020 (Forum)
How come there is a class action lawsuit for the Ford dual clutch automatic gearboxes, but there is no such class action for the e-HDi gearboxes which are woeful? I have such a gearbox on my 2013 508 e-HDi, and it is a well known fact that these jump out of first, only to decide to slam back into first gear again.

  • Various - Connected cars 15 Feb 2020 (Forum)
Had access to the previous owners email, home address, spotify account and access to the automatic garage door opener. along with a list of all his destinations since he purchased the car. even a list of his drs appointments on the in car calendar.   Have obviously conducted a full factory reset but can see this becoming a bigger problem as more and more cars become fully connected.
  • Skoda Roomster - ATF filler 26 Nov 2019 (Forum)
Please can anyone help??? I went to do an oil change on our Skoda Roomster and managed to drain the Automatic transmission fluid by mistake.  I only lost about half a litre (if that) before I realised my mistake and put the plug back in but obviously now it needs putting back in.  Yeah, I know I should change it but as a temporary measure until I can afford some new stuff, I'll put what I drained back in...
