Citroen Berlingo Multispace - Engine misfire, Lots of black smoke 3 Aug 2011 (Forum)
So far I have replaced all the sensors from the failed engine, the wiring harness complete, all the injection system (injection pump, injectors one at a time) and substitued an ECU from an 01 Peugeot partner DW8. No change! Going onto diagnostics, I am about to borrow a compression tester, so hopefully it will not show up one cylinder down, (if it does then its out with the engine and swap just the head?) -
Focus Elle - Insurance fiasco - just having a rant 31 Jul 2011 (Forum)
I had a very minor accident on the 15 July (holds up hands but not admitted at the time of course). My car was collected and I was given a sweet Peugeot 107 as a courtesy car. It seems this is one of those financial situations when the insurance company don't want to repair the car which is under the mileage for the year (02) and last year I clocked up <5000 miles - it's a financial situation, nothing more than that. -
Land Rover Freelander 2 (2006 - ) - Cold Start / Glowplugs 9 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Two questions:- To other Freelander 2 owners, how cold does it have to be before there is a delay while the glowplugs do their stuff? To other users who have this 2.2 engine in other vehicles (Peugeot 4007 and 407, Citroen C-Crosser and various C5s and C6s, Mitsubishi Outlander 2.2, Ford S-Max and Mondeo etc.), which may have more conventional ignition keys, do the glowplugs on your car activate in cold temperatures and does the engine start OK if you ignore the glowplug warning light? -
Toyota Yaris II/Vitz (2006 - ) - Headlights did not switch off automatically! 14 Dec 2007 (Forum)
I have not been particularly assiduous since this, it is just the fact every car I have ever owned since, from my Mark III 1981 Ford Escort, Peugeot 405, Nissan Primera, Ford Galaxy etc has always turned off the headlights once the car was switched off. My current VW Touran and MINI both monitor any power drain on the battery and switch off headlights, side lights and interior lights if they are left on by mistake. -

Fun practical used car for £6-8k 14 May 2007 (Forum)
Hi, I have about 6-8k to spend on a used car, maybe up to 3 years old and 50k miles. I currently have a Peugeot 306 which is now very old and needs a financially-nonviable repair, but is still excellent on twisty roads with good handling and steering feedback. I need something fairly practical (say Focus sized or bigger) although rear seat comfort is not very important (so a coupe with fold-down seats is fine, just so I can take four people or a longish load occasionally). -

Executive diesel automatic saloon 9 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Audi A4 1.9tdi auto - Too new to fit into my £12k budget Audi A6 1.9tdi auto - Seriously considering but what is the gearbox? Regular tiptronic auto (=mpg killer) or multitronic (=very efficient)? Ford, Renault, Citroen, Peugeot. Worried about putting £12k into any of these due to depreciation. VW 1.9tdi auto. Not very efficient gearbox. Merc 220cdi auto. Nice gearbox but drove one and think the interior is rubbish for the money. -
Pug 406 V6 Wierd Oil Pressure Problem 9 May 2005 (Forum)
Can anyone shed any light on an oil pressure problem that's causing me serious hair loss. The engine in question is the 3.0 V6 lump (ES9J4) fitted in this instance to a Peugeot 406 but also used in some Citroens and (I believe) Renaults. It has developed a problem of late whereby it has no oil pressure upon starting. It's been in the garage several times and diagnosed variously as a dented sump fouling the strainer (dent removed worked OK for a week), clogged strainer (strainer removed cleaned refitted worked OK for 2 days). -
Mitsubishi Outlander - Could it be a failed DMF on a SST (Dual Clutch)?? 20 Nov 2020 (Forum)
But I also have a warranty, however the nearest garage that is one of their "network" garages, that is even prepared to look at this is a Peugeot dealer - 100ml round trip (the 4007 was identical to the Outlander). They think it could be the DMF, but are concerned that their computer won't talk to the Mitsubishi (possibly different software on identical hardware) so could end up immobilising my car. -
Peugeot 206 hatchback (1998 - 2006) - High mile. What to do, keep or replace? 22 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Apologies before we begin, this may be a long one. The better half has a Pug 206 which we are beginning to think is beginning to shuffle off this mortal... -
Sub £3k Petrol Estate vs Petrol MPV 3 Mar 2024 (Forum)
Are Zafira's any good? Are bigger MPV's like the S-Max and Alhambra uneconomical as petrols? Are Peugeot or Citroen estates/MPV's worth a punt or are they danger territory in the £3k range? It was a minefield of a search when I had just one or two models to look at, now I'm extending it to dozens of potential vehicles I'm a bit overwhelmed. -
Any - Used car buying 3 Aug 2023 (Forum)
What to stay away from in terms of engine issues on older models, max mileage considered for age etc. Looking at corsas, peugeots, fiestas, micras that kind of thing. Went to see pug 307 1.4 petrol last night. 55k on clock, near perfect Mot history but no oil in engine and I really didn't like the feel of the pedals under foot. -
Nissan Almera Tino 2.2 dCi - Poor fuel economy 6 Apr 2019 (Forum)
My journey should be very favourable for achieving good figures.....my previous car, a 1997 Peugeot 406 1.8lx petrol averaged 37 mpg over the exact same journey, surely my 50,000 mile 5 year old Nissan should be bettering the ancient old petrol motor? It is a 23 mile each way commute, A roads and the New Forest (40mph limit), I don't exceed the speed limit, I don't rev hard through the gears (in fact I change up at 2000 rpm), yet still, it resolutely refuses to give a better average than 37mpg. -
Which new car to buy? 2 Apr 2019 (Forum)
So far I have looked at and discarded; Ford ecosport (only 1.0 litre engine, subjectively looks too big) Peugeot 2008 (too cramped, couldn't get my legs comfortable) Suzuki Vitara (felt cramped with doors closed - also tried SX Cross but that was too big a car, only autos are higher spec and include privacy glass) Citroen C3 aircross - no auto box Mazda CX3 - felt cramped and very little room in the back Still in contention Hyundai ix20/Kia Venga - cons are seems like old technology/models and due to be discontinued in the next few weeks with no replacement as far as I can see. -
1.8L 16v P Reg Citroen Xantia for £60 26 Oct 2012 (Forum)
It's apparently straight, some minor front end damage was fixed under 3rd party claim about a year ago, so hopefully that's up to scratch. Questions: 1) What other cars (Citroen or Peugeot) would provide a similar engine? I was told that the Pug 406 uses the same engine, what about the 405 or similar? 2) If it all becomes a bad idea once the car is delivered and inspected could I either use it for spares for my 2.0L 16v Xantia (L reg) at 70,000 miles or fit my whole 2.0 Litre engine and box and drive train if needed into this car and have a much newer car? -
Toyota Yaris II/Vitz (2006 - ) - Gearbox design flaw in Yaris (>2006) 26 Oct 2008 (Forum)
When she asked what they could do about it now, they said: * They'd take the old one off her hands for £3500 (it was £10500 two years ago) * She could buy another one (she was very amused by this I can assure you) and they might consider offering her more money Taking it to a Peugeot dealer we asked what they'd give us part-ex and they offered £4700. If other people have had a similar experience I'd be interested to hear. Also if anyone has advice on what the hell to do really. -
Wow factor- taxi 15 Dec 2007 (Forum)
I was starting to think Alfa Romeo 164 or at least something I'd never had the pleasure of riding in before. Whatever, I thought I wouldn't mind a piece of this to replace the old Peugeot. After some 25 minutes I arrived at the club, paid the chap and headed rear to satisfy my curiosity. Can you tell what it is yet? It was a Rover 825. Make of that what you will. Best part of the evening by far. -
Peugeot? Skoda? and others - Search for a car 1 Mar 2011 (Forum)
We left thinking of going back soon to look more at A4s, Then we went by appointment to a Peugeot garage to look at a 3008, 1.6 THP, Exclusive. This was my arrangement... why the Pug? Saw one in a showroom 1 year back and thought the interior was gorgeous Seemed to meet our needs in terms of space and size though even 1 year ago we were unsure if we still needed 7 seats, and we stayed with the Grandis The 2008 has been just out long enough that there is some (not many) in stock in our budget, even with the highly rated 1.6 THP engine (apparently same as BMW put in the MIni Cooper?) -
Help me decide! - Advice for a first car?? 16 Dec 2020 (Forum)
I’m hoping to learn more to one day be able to do up classics/project cars. I have a budget of around max £2,500. I really like the look of Peugeot 106 (but I have read they’re not great for motorway driving) or citoeren Saxo, particularly the 1.5 Diesel. Also had a look at older Micras and Fiestas. I’m thinking perhaps a diesel would suit me better as I’ll need it for some long distance driving, but I also want to be able to visit cities and I know some now have a diesel ban so I’m considering both diesel and petrol, preferably manual.
