How to get a traffic hazard recognised 10 Oct 2003 (Forum)
The council don\'t seem interested in anything - I\'ve contacted them on a few points before without a successful response. It\'s hardly a police matter, so what next?

Legal problem - can anyone help? 11 Sep 2003 (Forum)
My relative says she pulled out when she considered that the motorcyclist had slowed down to a point where he was unlikely to do anything other than turn left, but she didn\'t actually see him start to turn left. As you\'ve probably all guessed by now, the biker kept going and hit my relative\'s front bumper from the side. The biker came off the bike but was not injured enough to require hospital treatment. No witnesses have said that they actually saw the accident but we have the details of two witnesses that say they saw the bike on the ground in the seconds after the accident with its left turn signal flashing.

Dumb pop-ups=dumb marketing people 14 May 2003 (Forum)
Everyday one of these ghastly things manages to insert itself on the bit of the screen I\'m reading. When I click at it, instead of disappearing it opens up the blasted site it\'s advertising and then I have to go through the rigmarole of getting back to where I was or else it sits there immovably. My enjoable reading has been interrupted and I do not find this clever, amusing, nor even good psychology.

A most reliable car 17 Dec 2002 (Forum)
There is no significant rot anywhere although the white paint has faded. The same was true of all the others: the 1980's one which looked like a copy of the Merc 190E is still a favorite with Manila taxi-drivers today and Lord knows what they must have survived to still be running. I also owned a couple of Mazda 929's in the Saudi days - again very troublefree.

As a (sensible?) preparation for several long holiday journeys this car was serviced by a small independent garage in the local village that in the past...

interesting sat telegraph this week 11 Sep 2001 (Forum)
Gatso's are nonsense But so is the wider way the roads are policed We should not just be knocking the government?s crazy way of running the transport system, we should also start listing some of the obvious positive suggestions to make things better For instance (off the top of my head) - less bans, more retraining, retests, e.g. court tells you to take X hours of driver training in the next 2 months and pass a retest in the next 4 months - is much more likely to improve the driver than a ban - start attacking really dangerous behaviour (e.g. double parking outside schools, parking on crossing zig zags (unless there?

                Alfa 147 Selespeed 10 Aug 2001 (Forum)
In town stick to the fully auto \"city mode\" Practice brings rewards with this car, unlike most boring fodder on the road today. So on drive quality alone the Alfa wins over the Focus, a view also shared by Channel 4\'s Driven show. Whilst the focus is very, very good the Alfa improves on it. In what way do you think this car a bad drive HJ ? How can a car that drives better than a Focus not be a great drive?

Skoda Fabia - Is there known issue for VAG 1.0TSI ? 14 Nov 2024 (Forum)
Although we haven’t tested but feel 60PS version is perhaps slightly underpowered for 2020’s. I can’t say the same for 1.0MPI(75PS) but maybe doable. My question, is there any known issue for VAG 1.0TSI engine ? I learnt that the dreaded VAG Timing Belt Changing Interval do not apply any longer.

Mazda / Kia - Looking at write-offs as my next car 15 Jul 2024 (Forum)
Provided I have the right assurance from the seller (either private or trade), would it make sense to go for Cat S / N, for a car that would set my back by £10-£13k (Mazda cx-5, Kia exceed). Many thanks.

Ford - Powershift all bad? 22 May 2024 (Forum)
We're looking at getting a 7 seater automatic MPV and I was considering the S Max or Grand C Max but obviously Google has horror stories about the Powershift transmission. Just wondering whether there are any versions that are more reliable, or whether people say it's a blanket no to all.

Skoda Karoq - What's worse; modern cars or other people? 26 Mar 2024 (Forum)
I managed to get the bumper back on and opened the bonnet to see what was up with the light(s). They're one unit, bolted in two places to a metal support above and with a further bolt to a plastic strut on the lower side. A little bit of wiggling and the plastic strut dropped off.

It'll have to be an old model from 2005-ish looking at Auto Trader prices on my budget (£4,500, and prices are more ridiculous in the South West) Bearing in mind the early models I'll have to go for, which would you choose from these please? Ford S-Max Ford Galaxy Citroen C4 Grand Picasso VW Sharan Seat Alhambra (I can't locate any though) Kia Sportage Or early: Berlingo Multispace Peugeot Partner Tepee Renault Kangoo Please shout up if you think of other cars that will suit, in my price range.

Used Cars - Towbars 27 Nov 2022 (Forum)
I'm impressed to see that it has already moved a from a Seat/Skoda main dealer in Newport (s. Wales) to an independent trader in London. They have done some nice preparation on it (refurbed the wheels and tidied up some heavily blemished paintwork). Two things that struck me - firstly, someone will get a good deal there; it's got full main dealer service history exactly on time etc.

Our next car… please help? 18 Apr 2022 (Forum)
We like the look of estates, MPV’s or SUV’s. We’re thinking about a Skoda superb estate, another Galaxy or S-max. The VW Toureg is great but too expensive and I’m unsure if the mondeo estate could pull the trailer. As we intend to keep the next car for the long haul the newer and less mileage the better.

Used Car Selection - Input Welcome 15 Nov 2021 (Forum)
After running an old Ford for two decades have finally agreed with the family to purchase a much newer vehicle. Going from a late 90's Ford to a fairly modern car will be a welcome change. Currently looking at approved used Lexus GS\IS models that are within the current budget which is ideally no more than £26k. The later ES seems to be outside this budget.

Volvo V60 - avice on changing cars 3 Aug 2021 (Forum)
ideally he wants it under 60,000 miles and a bit newer than his 2013 car. He also likes the Skoda Superb and the Skoda Octavia nd also the Mazda 6's. Our budget is under £13,00 but we could push a but more if needed. We just wondered what you all suggested out of these cars? in terms of reliability and comfort, safety etc my husband would either grade his V40 in or sell it privately.

All - Highway code changes 30 Jul 2021 (Forum)
The highway code changes are all well and good but what about drivers who - a) no clue whatsoever how to navigate a roundabout b) no understanding of who has right of way at a junction c) i**** drivers that think they are doing good by giving way at inappropriate times - which can be super dangerous as it breaks the rules variably d) drivers don't know how to turn right against oncoming traffic turning left e) drivers flashing others to proceed when it creates a dangerous manoeuvre for the other driver/s f) drivers copying other drivers instead of *knowing* what to do My point is that the level of practical application of the current highway code has eroded and there is a much bigger problem to solve.
