  In the morning the battery was flat but the car started after a few mins charging. On moving the car to its normal parking spot the abs light would come on if the steering and brake applied at the same time.The battery is less than a year old.The fan belt looks OK and is correctly tensioned.

  hi,  any advise would be great,the front passenger side alloy is getting red hot after about 6mile journey.i have taken the wheel off & i can turn the wheel hub by hand & it seems to turn free with no problems,brake pad does starts to squeel after about 6miles & only stops when i press the break pedal,thanks

  Hi Guys I have a 2009 RAV4 diesel and started to get a little brake judder. My dealer says that I have corroded discs and need pads and discs all round. Cost knocking £500 Just a couple of questions. Should I expect that of a car that is 3.5 years old and only done 33000 miles?

  Is this too much as the garage I bought the car from , who sell Hyundais but also have a Ford service centre, stated that this is a major service where the brake fluid needs to be changed as well as normal service items? I do have a service plan, which will cover £ 185 of the cost, but is this too much for the service. However, the dealer does have a reputation for being honest and isn't one that creates work for themselves.

  Hi all - anyone have any experience with towing with Merc's CVT auto box as in the A180CDI? I feel it probably isn;t advisable, but all the books and data suggest the opposite. Braked towing limit of 1500kg is stated, and my caravan is around 1000kg. So should be fine, but before i go to the lengths of installing a towhook, grateful for any real experience please?   Not too bad when it's raining, but when dry and they just keep going I cannot use the car. I notice when I brake, they may stop for a couple of seconds then start up again. Very annoying. I have asked different garages but they don't have a clue.

  Opinion/advice please on whether my MX-5 - 4 years old in May and with 16700 miles from new -  REALLY needs a 48000 mile service - incuding replacement of brake fluid and rear diff oil change this year ? It has had  Mazda main dealer service in accordance with manufacturer schedule thus far - including 37500 service a year ago when it had 11000 on the clock.

  Since starting to use it again the average fuel consumption over my typical mix of driving has increased by 10mpg from the figure it has been over the last 4 years. I've checked for binding brakes, no problems there and the performance is unaffected. Any ideas on the cause of the increase in fuel consumption most welcome please.

  while i was at my dealers today, who are also a Saab dealer, a customer asked for the price of an Led pack for the rear brake lights (the normal ones, not the hi-level one) and both he and me and the parts man were stunned at the cost £233 + fitting! OUCH! The customer declined saying his car wasn't worth that much !

  Hi, I have been getting water inside my Mazda 6. I can actually hear it moving around on acceleration and braking. I am not sure where it is coming from, the carpet is wet it seems to be at the back. Can anyone tell me where the sunroof drains are?

  Just got this problem * Handbrake light on (handbrake is not on) * Outside temperature on dash not showing * Warning temperature shows it is below 0c * Cannot open or lock doors with fob - but can open boot with fob  manual says handbrake light on means short of brake fluid by why would I get problems with doors and temperature at exactly the same time? Thanks

  Hello, My Nissan Primera ABS system developed a fault, whereby the ABS kicks in for a few miles causing the brake pedal to judder and then the ABS light comes on. I bought a new sensor and had it fitted this week (at an independent garage), but the fault remains. Does the ABS system need reset or recalibrated to take account of the new sensor?

  was parked on drive last friday and discovered this on monday, working ok before. could it be that the rear brake o/s shoes are stuck as a result of the handbrake cable or other cause ?

  I have a Fiat Brava P reg 1.6 and it when I press the foot brake the car pulls to the right. Sometimes I hear a single knocking noise when I turn a corner or go over a bump. The left wheel also has a lot of heat coming off it when driving. Can anyone shed some light on what is causing this and how to fix it.

  just fitted a hid xenon headlamp conversion kit to my 52 reg audi a4 now when i first start my car then put my lights on, the esp, abs and brake waning lights come on but if i turn the engine back off then back on then my lights on again its fine i fitted the canbus cancellers to the lights but that made no difference. anyone had the same problems?

  The opposite of oil rags current post. In the past I have seen some things work that I would not have believed possible. Brake fluid poured into a carb at full throttle to free up the rings! A down draft carb with a blocked jet had the air filter removed, it was then revved up whilst someone gave a sudden slap to inlets (totally amazed that worked).

  I was talking to a mate who had just had a routine service on a Bmw 3 series 3 litre W reg and it set him back around £1200. Of course the actual service was no where near that but with extras like a brake caliper and pads etc it soon added up. Safety items can't be ignored of course but I am curious as to what people expect to pay when the garage gives you the bill.

  Hi. Its time (after a free brake check) 'apparently' to change my front discs as they are below 23mm thickness at 21mm according to one of these fast fit type places . Ive been quoted £160 for discs and £90 for pads..........anyone know if this is high priced?

  My car has just had new front brake pads and discs (73000 miles) fitted, when driving it home it started making a sort of rubbing noise, when accelerating slowly. On the passenger side, sort of in time with the turning of the wheel.
