  • N/A - HJ proposals on car insurance 3 Oct 2016 (Forum)
    However a a low risk driver my premium is very low. Would making my car covered for any qualified driver lead to a steep increase in premiums? This is additional cover that I don't have a use for. I wonder how this works in the rest of the world where t seems to be the norm?

  • Hyundai Getz - car change 19 Sep 2014 (Forum)
    I am torn between keeping this car until it dies, buying something sensible such as an i20 or a Fabia or blowing the £5000 I have to spend on something like a ten year old BMW. Your suggestions on something that would be fun but would not lead me to poverty would be much appreciated please.
  • 2007 cooper - ignition problems 14 Dec 2013 (Forum)
    When you push the star button all the dials and lights come on there is then an audible click but the engine doesn't fire uo,  Sometimes if I  rotate the steering wheel it will fire up.  Recently I've had to use jump leads which it the cooper starts first push of the button.  As such I don't know whether it;s the battery, or an ignition glitch.  Anybody out there with advise?

  • Silicone based car polish as seen on TV 4 Aug 2012 (Forum)
    It says at the start of the advert that it uses a combination of silicones. I always thought that you should never use silicone near a car's paintwork as it can lead to all sorts of problems in the event of needing to have a panel resprayed, silicone craters etc. Any comments?

  • VW Golf Estate - Wheel Balancing 8 Nov 2010 (Forum)
    I have just had four new tyres put on my Golf Estate. I notice that three wheels have new lead weights where they have been balanced but the offside rear does not have any weight at all. Does this mean that the garage has forgotten to balance the wheel or is it possible that it did not need balancing?

  • Anti-SUV hysteria subsiding 4 Aug 2010 (Forum)
    Overall the market is down 24% for the month (end of sc***page plus 2% VAT increase), but sales of medium SUVs are up 12.4% and large ones 7.7%.  Could it be that the anti-SUV campaign a couple of years ago lead manufacturers to reduce manufacturing targets, and they've been caught on the hop now that the market is returning to normal?
  • Nissan Almera - Engine fails to start 11 May 2010 (Forum)
    Almera 1.6 SRi first fault in 13 years, Started the car this morning ran for 2-3 seconds now fails to start at all. There is a spark at the HT lead, also checked fuses to engine cont. and fuel etc.so I suspect the possibility of a fuel problem. I am led to believe there is a way of interegating the fault codes, if so can any one please advice on a way forward.
  • Alloy wheels...... hammered on weights 1 Apr 2009 (Forum)
    Why in the last couple of years have the lots of tyre fitting companies gone from using harmless stick on weights on our cherished alloy wheels to using 'beat it on with a hammer' weights as used on steel wheels? Look in any supermarket carpark, beautiful alloys. with ' pink fluffy dice great' lead weights designed for steel wheels ........ beat on to expensive alloy wheels! {GIM, you will probably know why I've edited your post}

  • Between opening windows and sunroof. 7 Jun 2008 (Forum)
    Nevertheless, the climate is now warm and therefore not using A/C means opening the car windows or the sunroof (I am not talking about the convertible). So here is the question: which leads to less fuel consumption between opening windows or sunroof? Shouting amended in subject line. I thought that this was a computer question for a minute
