• Nissan Leaf - Used Nissan Leaf Owners Advice 22 Nov 2019 (Forum)
  Are there any owners who can recommend a used model based on the below?  I've seen some ranging from £6k but understand it is an old battery model so therefore lower range. If I buy direct from a garage they will fit the home charge for free but the models start from approx £10k. My criteria: 600 miles per month, 8000p.a. mileage - own driveway.

  I am now looking for another, yet reluctant to spend a lot on one as I can build a car port for a couple of hundred pounds.  Also I bought it a trickle charger but wonder if I should take the battery off the car because damp and electricity don't get along I am told, anyone with experience or views on solar chargers?  Lastly thinking of putting an anti frost heater in the car, good or bad idea?

  Firstly my grateful thank's to those who patiently provide radio codes. Fitted new battery to my Ford Fusion 1.4 & lost radio, no code in manual so asked my friend Google who sent me here. Found the code generator and followed the instructions re hold 1 & 6 for Serial No.

    Peugeot 206, 1.4L Petrol, manual, 2005 (£500) 83,000 miles, had lots of repairs over the last few months including new thermostat, fuel injector,battery, cross climate tyres and a full service Ford Fiesta, 1.25 L petrol, manual, 2010 Zetec (£1400) 100,000 miles, not serviced at all for four years, as far as I know, had no faults or repairs done for two years.

    During this time, I have started it occasionally to move it to get better access to swap parts, or just to keep things moving. Just recently, it will turn over normally but shows no inclination to fire.  The battery is good and is charged regularly.  I have noticed that on turning the key to the second position, the fuel pump does not run to pressurise as it usually did and think this is probably significant (fuel pump fuse is OK).

  After 4 minutes I tried to start the engine but it failed, but it didn't schow any errors. The towing service checked the battery and then the car went crazy - showed all imaginable errors (from tires to brake system). It looked something like electronic short-circuit. Even the psrking brake didn't turn off for like 10 tries.

  Hi got a 2007 Vauxhall Vectra Sri cdti 16 valve and I have noticed it using more diesel than it should the computer says 36.7 and that's on a run off about 20 miles , went out to it and started and battery light stayed on although it's had rectifier in alternator , I switched off and started it again and light went out and stayed out? Also when I was driving along in sixth and accelerate it was a bit jerky , read codes and came up with p0621 generator warning lamp fault and p0008 generic engine position  performance bank 1  could this be timing issues as it starts ok in mornings thanks

  I’ve had a couple of people tell me that it will be fine just to jump start the car and see what happens and I’ve had a couple tell me that I should drain oil and fuel and install new battery before starting it for the first time. I’m guessing the best option would be to get it towed to the nearest vw garage and get them to do a full service with new tyres etc but I’m quite restrained by budget.

  Starter motor is screeching sometimes when cold. This morning its frosty and it just wont engage and just screeches. Battery is a bit old but I've jumped it and makes no difference - still makes that horrible racket! I've put car on axle stands and starter motor seems very enclosed and not easy to access. What do I have to take apart to get it off?

  The problem is that it will not crank at all when hot, starts up perfectly when cold or cool and can be driven all day long. Repairs done so far: - Replaced battery - Replaced starter and cabling - Installed heat protection on starter - Swapped around relays in the engine bay Suspect: Some sensor inhibiting cranking? Even if hot and will no start, the fan seems not to be running either, until once today, but did not repeat.

  The thought of having to plan these trips to include several stops to charge would put me off. Also battery life and their replacement cost is something else else which needs to be included in the overall cost of running. How much range would you want from an electric car before it would suit your lifestyle?

  Heres whats happening, you can go to the car and put the key in the ignition and sometimes it will start no problem then the next time you go to it and try again it will not start, fiddled with the door locks and ignition and of it goes again, turned off and removed keys locked car. Unlocked car wont start again,battery good,when it wont start there is no noise from the starter etc. leave it alone and try again later and it will start. Many thanks.                   Steve

  So i use my diagnostic kit to delete the error and it went off but came on again after a few miles. So iv tried to disconnect the battery left it over night and connect it again then started the car and let it run for more then 5 mins. But still the light comes on after a few miles. There no other faults coming up so any ideas what the problem might be.

  Reluntantly I must part with my Mini Cooper S, JCW kit, 2007, Chilli pack, Astro Black,6 speed, Turbo charge, 22000 genuine miles. Off road SORN, in storage for 2 years, wrapped in blankets,battery disconnected. Unable to ship to my new location.  Last time checked only needed computer reset, started 1st time, I appreciate he will require attention, MOT, service etc.  Please can anyone give me a realistic valuation, as I have been scared rigid with horror predictions of problems, insulted by valuations and cannot let him go for silly price.

    The CD is not working since a CD got jammed a few months ago. On top of that, I had some work done on the car which meant disconnecting the battery. So now I can't input a code (even if I had one!) as I don't have a display. 1. Is there a replacement bulb or light for the panel display to get it working again? Is this available and is it straightforward to replace?

  My 1.9 Tdi mk5 is developed a problem where I noticed it is hard to start from cold. I fitted a new battery which has helped, but it has still not cured the problem. The only way I can start it is by putting my foot on the accerlator whilst turning it over??   The engine wasn't very warm when I went back to it so assume it cut out well before 2 hrs. Have I killed my car or does the battery just need recharging? Thanks

  The radar controlled cruise control was engaged and the car operated normally, slowing when car ahead was getting too close and then accelerating to the set speed when the road was clear. Upon reaching home disconnected and reconnected the battery but engine fault icon still lighted. Next day on the motorway engine fault icon cleared but speed limiter which can be set to a fixed speed is unable to hold the set speed. Appreciate if you could advise the cause and remedy.

  I've had the car from new for 14 years and really has had very little problems, still has original exhaust,  battery, clutch etc. Good car but now getting dangerous when overtaking uphill. Any one had similar problems and how did it get fixed?
