  A cold chisel or screwdriver blade could probably also supply suitable wedges. This was on a bicycle coaster brake but I'd guess there will be automotive examples, though there wont always be clearance for this dodge.

  Horn stopped working yesterday. Brake lights work,  so assume fuse # 21 is OK. I can hear clicking under steering wheel when pressing the horn switch so also assume "relay" - if there is one (?) is also working properly. Is there anything else to try before pulling the front bumper ( why do they put horns in such inaccessible places) ?

  When driving a automatic car battery dies due to alternator failure when driving up a steep hill, car cuts out and rolls downhill. Brakes do not work, steering neither, handbrake disengages, all due to battery being completely dead. My question is how do you stop the car, Why does it continue to roll backwards even though it is in gear?

   Driver assist setting shows ticked in box / sign on dash window shows car symbol with OFF below, I have tried several ways to change so it will show ON at the dash no joy as yet, plus I have noticed when applying the footbrake it feels as though the brakes are 'grabbing' and releasing quickly

  Yet again the dashboard lights are indicating a problem with the Alb , steering etc and intermittent lack of braking and steering. Had the fuse box replaced with a second hand part in May last year but the problem is back again. There is mention of water coming from the washer pipe but I've no idea how to check this.

  Issue whilst the ABS light was on was no traction control and improved MPG, but the increased MPG may have been due to over easy driving style and more engine braking, as I needed to continue using the car prior to being repaired.

  I feel that Stop/start is a safety hazard in my A1 Sportback S-tronic. There can be a significant delay, foot of the brake, nudge accelerator and then wait for the engine to start.  I have tried to get into the habit of turning this feature off when I first get into the car but I would rather not have to.   I understand that  Stop/start can be disabled in the cars computer system.

  My spanner light comes on and stays on after about half a mile.  I have depressed the brake and accellerator pedals to the floor and turned the ignition ket to get the code 6342 (the engine light flashes six times, then three, four and two).  What does this mean.  All the codes i find in the net begin with 0, 1 or 2.

  They go out after switching the car off and starting up again.The car is fitted with a Bosch ABS pump not a Teves thankgoodness and once a red brake light appeared but wentout after switching off.   Any ideas what could be the problem ?

   They are cognisant of the difficulties that motorist would have if the engine of their car stopped while in a high speed chase.  Difficulties like disengagement of power steering and braking. It seems that the military already have devices that can 'fry' a vehicle's electrics. This is something to watch.

   22k of Low revs Low mileage short trips so now change oils yearly on engine 2yr on box & brakes What do i do with DIFF?.I do one or two M23 trips of 60miles x2 in4th&5th or 2500 revs +/ - instead of 60mph in 6th getting 81mpg in the inside lane on cruise control .

  i too have joined an exclusive club this week,fault code 01435 and g201 the car is going into vw on wed for full test to be done,can anyone tell me if it is danderous to continue driving with this faul with the esp and braking system,pritty hacked of here as vw seem to be aware about his prob for a very long time.
• Honda Accord 2004 - front discs replacement 1 Aug 2011 (Forum)
  Just replaced the front discs on the car, which was pretty straightforward and something I've done often on other cars. Now gradually bedding in the brakes, but the pedal now  feels spongey. Can't understand this since I never opened up the hydraulics : all i did was open the reservoir top  and push back the piston on each wheel.  Any thoughts ?

  I have recently put three cars through their  respective MOT's and each car failed with faded rear lights such as indicators and brakes. It strikes me to be more than bureacratic when they do actually work and do their job but who decides what is faded and what isn't. One headlight needed adjusting but hey would not do it during the MOT, I would have to book it back in again.

  All was fine until the other day when it wouldn't start. The only way it would start is with my foot on the brake. I have never had to do this in the last 2 months I've had the car but now this is the only way it starts. Is this a sign of some going wrong?!  any advice gratefull received!

  My car has just been with a nation wide company for a service.  Got a call that front discs were below minimum and brake pads 65% worn and they could replace if I gave them the go ahead (£176).  I said I would leave it thanks and took it to another garage.  They said the discs were well withing spec and the pads had over 50% meat left.

  Hi One of my brake ligkts has failed. I took the 2 bolts out of the rear lamp cover any tried to pull it off, but it just won't budge. Is there a trick to this. I don't really want to have to go to a garage for this, but neither do I want to do damage wrenching the cover off.
