  • Skoda Favorit 1 Dec 2002 (Forum)
As this job is initially only for a year, I reckon something like this is probably a better bet than stretching the finances to the limit. Any other suggestions for cars to look out for would be appreciated.
  • Deal on new Golf GT Tdi 130 24 Nov 2002 (Forum)
I'm looking to buy a Golf GT TDi new from my local dealer. they seem unwilling to drop below list price (£16,200 ish, 3 door), but they have offered £4,000 for my 2001/Y Punto 1.2 Elx 8v which has 31,000 miles and patchy service history, plus the Punto is an import so has alledgedly been down-valued. So the offer is £12,200 to change, and they can do the finance at 7.1% APR. Sound like a good deal or has anyone got any suggestions?? Thanks.
  • Cartel? 20 Aug 2002 (Forum)
I'm not expecting to save a shed load of cash on a car with a three month waiting list, but cannot distinguish one dealer from another. Does anyone have any ideas of how to save some cash here, apart from haggling a good finance rate? Thanks, Lee.
  • Vauxhall Crossland - Garage refusing repair under warranty 15 Aug 2023 (Forum)
Stage 2 would be a new oil pump if stage 1 was not to fix the problem and stage 3 would be a new engine, which at this stage they feel we should pay for. As we are on a PCP the car is not ours, it is on finance through Vauxhall finance, which I let Perry’s know. I have emailed Vauxhall financial with all the above information, I have not at this point had a response and my car is still at perrys with advice for me not to drive!

  • Nissan Qashqui Tekna 2016 - Nissan Qashqui engine failure 11 Mar 2020 (Forum)
I bought my car on finance 20 months ago so it is a couple of months less than 4 year old at the moment. It has a full service car plan with Nissan and has been well maintained. the mileage is approx 45,000. On the Friday, it had been in my local garage to get brake pads fitted and two weeks earlier, it had passed its second MOT.
  • Dealer crashed my car! 14 Jul 2003 (Forum)
Hi, I purchased a 2001Y Seat Ibiza Cupra from Wills and Ellis Seat in York on Wednesday, on finance. From the start, it hasn't been a very good experience. The finance documentation was poorly explained, and they have signed me up for GAP insurance without my consent - which I would have probably gone for, but it would have been nice to be asked.
  • Peugeot 308 - Peugeot Problems!!! 6 Apr 2020 (Forum)
We’re taking it to another garage tomorrow for a second opinion, but if anyone could give me any advice as to whether I can take this up with Peugeot, or the finance company as in my opinion a car of this age shouldn’t be having this kind of breakdown. Thanks (Edit: paras inserted so that people don't lose the will to live.)
  • Buying a pre-reg online - advice please.....! 15 Nov 2007 (Forum)
Now here is the bit that's concerning me.....the paperwork dropped through the door this morning and it is structured in the form of a 12m contract deal with no interest on it through a finance company called CPL finance and quotes an arangement through "4wheels4u". It is set up in such a way that it takes into account the deposit and then requires payment of the balance (8900 ish) and then shows a "balloon" payment at the end of £115.
  • Peugeot 3008 - Limited Dealership Warranty if having service ... 20 Feb 2023 (Forum)
I had a Pug on finance but paid it off early. Part of the deal was a limited 5 year warranty (mainly engine failure). (The roll bar came up as an advisory last year but was not covered). If I don't have my service with them this limited warranty is void.
  • 10 year guarantee - sign of things to come? 12 Sep 2019 (Forum)
A limited run of Fiat Tipo 1.4 "Street" models are up for grabs for €11,350 (obligatory 5 years of financing at over 10% APR adds another €4000 and you have to trade in some kind of working motor vehicle in return!) but the interesting detail is 10 years of roadside assistance and a warranty (2 years "Legal" and a further 8 years "Commercial" - whatever that means.)
  • Volvo XC90 - Non regulated Business Hire Contract Termination 11 Jan 2019 (Forum)
The dealer has made three attempts to fix under warranty, but has failed. I wish to reject the car, but I understand that I won't be covered by consumer law, or finance as it's an unregulated hire agreement.  I understand that I am covered by contract law, but the lease contract has exemptions regarding the guaranteeing the quality of the car.  I would like to now buy something Japanese!
  • MG3 Re-vamp 20 Aug 2018 (Forum)
But if you treasure positive steering, grip and handling and the feeling of being at one with a car, the MG3 is truly worthy of its MG badge. There are no deposit finance packages from just £149 a month. And a 7 year, 80,000 mile warranty.
  • Ford EcoSport - Compensation for lack of spare parts 14 Dec 2016 (Forum)
Currently waiting on some other part to finish the repair. Thankfully her insurance company are still paying for a courtesy car. This car was financed through Ford Options. Having kept the payments up, should she be able to claw back this money, as she has been paying for a car she has not seen for almost a year now. Both the garage and insurance company put the blame firmly at Fords door for not having the ready availability of spare parts.
  • Buying used car 17 Sep 2016 (Forum)
I am 33 years old so the insurance is not as high as it could be with younger people but still a pain. I am considering my options. Should I take up finance and buy a new car or shall I buy a used car as I'm a new driver? I don't mind a used car as such but I haven't got much knowledge about cars so advice would be appreciated. How old the car should be, does that affect reliability?

  • Madza 3 - Broken Con Rod 28 Jan 2015 (Forum)
Mazda and the dealership will only pay 10% as a goodwill gesture towards the costs. I've only had the car 23 months and it's still on finance. The dealership have carried out their diagnostics and found no issues. Is someone out there that can give me some advise please.  I haven't had any problems with the car up to that point.
  • kia spprtage 1.7 crdi diesel - Will short journeys from col damage diesel engine 2 Dec 2014 (Forum)
Aside from dpf possible clogging but by all means air your views on that, would these short journeys damage the diesel engine anyway without a dpf. Not thinking of removing dpf by the way! It would obviously help my son's finances if I took the diesel car off him.
  • Chevrolet Captiva - Chevrolet Captiva 2.2 Diesel Bargain 7 Jan 2014 (Forum)
If only Chevrolet would not have been realistic about their place in the motoring world (budget not mainstream) and would have priced their vehicles accordingly, they may have been a success. http://www.chevrolet.co.uk/offers-finance/offers/best-deals-ever-captiva.html Edit - I think you mean "£12,295 for...." in the first line.  Amended for clarity.)
