  • a Newer car. Used. Your suggestions 30 Jan 2021 (Forum)
Used car, but a reliable, economical main condition and an automatic, preferably Japanese. My very old diesel Volkswagen Lupo is completely unusable. And now I want a more comfortable car and a bigger one. I was thinking about a Lexus ct200h or Toyota Prius, but from the review I understud that a hybrid is more of a city car.

  • Engine worry? 18 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Loads of posts seem to worry about engine life on a car, but I got to thinking of the many cars I've owned, many Fiats, Vauxhalls, Volvos, Mercedes, Volkswagens, etc but only two have had engine failure. An HB Viva engine died after a good mileage but I saw the car many years later still going and a Volvo 240 but swmbo came home saying this red light had appeared on the dash but she drove anyway as she didn't know what it meant so that was down to us. in my time cars are changed because I fancy a newer one or a different model or some electrical faults or minor faults make it unreliable.
  • Between a Honda Accord And VW Passat 19 May 2008 (Forum)
Dear brethren, I have the option of buying a used honda accord cdti executive 2005 with 80000 mileage for 7000 pounds or volkswagen passat 1.9D 2005 with mileage of 24,000 for 8,500pounds. I think I should be able to afford either of them. Ordinarily, the choice would have been the vw passat but with the well known fuel pump and engine problems of the passt and the fact that in the JD power of 2008; amongst the family cars, honda was 3rd while the passat came 16th because of poor reliability and poor interior quality and poor services from the dealers.
  • Audi A3 Sportback (2004 - ) - Young A3 Sportback 2.0 tdi and Dual Mass Flywheel 7 Apr 2008 (Forum)

  • Don't drive as I do, drive as I say... 7 Mar 2007 (Forum)
José Manuel Barroso insisted that fighting climate change was about 'collective action' José Manuel Barroso, who owns a Volkswagen Touareg, said: "I have never spoken of myself as an example to anybody - today's moralistic approach is not mine." The president's German-built 4x4 emits high levels of CO2, running at up to 356 grams per kilometre, well above a 130 g limit Brussels is seeking to impose on the car industry by 2012.
  • VW Golf 1.9 Diesel TDI injectors? 2 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I have just bought a VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 1.9 GL TDI 'M' reg. with 110,00 miles on the clock. I have found that the car judders slightly when under light load. It runs fine at speed or when pulling away and goes really well. It's when cruiseing on a light throttle doing say 40 to 60 that it judders.

Grateful for any help, Our is a Volkswagen Golf 1988 4=E 1.8 . On a run back from Brighton to Bordon the autochoke stuck on and it used so much fuel that my Range Rover would have been proud. With an Escort mk3 we had a while back i just took it apart and cleaned it up an it worked fine.
