ESSO 'on the run' stations 8 Jan 2007 (Forum)
I recently went into 2 separate Esso ststions in our locality (Reading). All I wanted was some spare brake light bulbs, however it now seems these stations sell virtually no automotive items apart from a couple of bottles of oil and screenwash. Okay you can get a loaf of bread or a pastie, but whatever happened to petrol stations stocking basic car items such as bulbs ? -
306 heater matrix 2 Nov 2006 (Forum)
How easy is it to remove the matrix on a 306. It seems well and truly sealed into the area behind the firewall next to the brake servo. My first problem is how to access it? cheers Matt -
Nissan Primera Squealing Noise 5 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Seems to be unconnected to road speed and engine revs. The noise goes away temporarily if I dab the brakes lightly. Any ideas? Thanks -
Help - Walter Rohrl film clip 2 Oct 2005 (Forum)
The in car camera was pointed at his feet which were 'dancing' on the pedals and showing his mastery of 'left foot braking'. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to the exact title of the video or a recent title which contains the same clip? Fullchat -
stealth car (not) seen this morning 19 Nov 2004 (Forum)
All I could see of it was the rear numberplate reflected in my headlights. If I hadn't had my lights on, I may not have seen him until his brake lights came on, and when the outside temp is -1, that is not good ! -
Servicing. Rover 420 SLDi 27 Oct 2004 (Forum)
Rover 420 SLDi. I had the coolant and brake fluid replaced yesterday for £37.50. ATS carried out the work. Their staff proved friendly and helpful. Well recommended. Two weeks ago they replaced the engine oil and filter, using Helix 10/40 & a Cooper filter for £22.99. -
Golf Mk4 airbag warning light 4 Oct 2004 (Forum)
Recently I had to brake heavily and mount the pavement with my front wheel to avoid a collision. After this, the airbag warning light came on and remained on. The next time I turned on the ignition the airbag warning light did not reappear. -
death trap cars 23 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Check out what this bloke is trying to sell: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10376&item=2484298292&rd=1 He admits it has "no brakes" but reckons that's ok cause "he drive's home very early in the morning when there are no cars on the road" you can even see a child seat visable on the front seat... does'nt bear thinking about. -
ABS 15 May 2003 (Forum)
We take this for granted, most new cars offer it I have had it for the last 6years and as far as I am aware has never cut in.Imagine my horror when a spongy brake pedal was found to first a master cylinder at £300 and an ABS pump at £1000 I have a mindto make sure my next car is the Basic model without all these bells and whistles to go wrong ndbw -
A fair price? 28 Sep 2002 (Forum)
Hi I have just been charged £96 exc. V.A.T & Labour (2 Hrs) to replace a Brake Pressure Valve Limiter for my Clio 16v 1992. I was assured this was a genuine Renault part. Was this is a fair price to pay? The total charge was about £190. Should I be able to see this part if I look under the car. -
Renault Clio - Rear lights 20 Jul 2025 (Forum)
Just got hold of younger daughter’s 52 registered Clio for the first time in a few weeks and noted that the brake light on the near side was flashing alternately with the indicator. Took out the LED 380 bulb and put in a new incandescent bulb and it’s better. Just a slight dimming of the tail light whilst the indicator is illuminated. -
Tesla Model S etc - Electric Car Towing 26 Jul 2021 (Forum)
Just wondered if anyone has experience with towing with electric cars. Only a few seem capable and I think you have to turn off the energy recovery under braking? Wondering if it’s worth even considering if range Is reduced too much, although I wouldn’t want to tow much more than a folding camper -
Rear Lights... VW Polo 26 May 2021 (Forum)
Some kind soul told me both my rear lights were blown last night. As far as I can tell, the reverse, brake and fog lights still work but even after replacing both rear light bulbs, they don\'t work. Any ideas before it gets dark again please? I can\'t avoid driving tonight. Thank you! -
All - EVs front or rear wheel drive? 25 Oct 2020 (Forum)
My question is are all these EVs rear driven and what could the implications on the road be as to driving in snow? Also how does servo braking differ from your conventional car? -
26 Nov 2019 (Forum)
Re: Scar Wash - some fat, lazy person has obviously rubbed HJ up the wrong way, but seriously, I wouldn't even use a jet wash, especially around any seals and brakes - there's far too much pressure, just a hose and standard car wash soapy water, or the stuff they give you if you've had a ceramic coating. Also, if you clean the car yourself, you're more likely to spot any bits falling off. -
Any - Wheel Nuts 15 Feb 2019 (Forum)
I get tyres changed, On my invoice is a note warning me to check my wheel nuts are tight after 50 miles. I visit a garage, Wheels come off e.g for some work on the brakes. I don't get a warning to check the wheel nuts. Garages seem to be living dangerously, although I don't hear of problems with wheel nuts coming loose. -
Suzuki SX4 S-Cross - clunking noise 20 Sep 2018 (Forum)
For the past few weeks I've been hearing a clunking noise when I stop the car either downhill or uphill, as if the weight of the car shifts in the opposite direction before it comes to rest. I never hear it when stopping on a level surface, and I don't hear it when otherwise braking, except when the car comes to a complete stop. Any thoughts what this might be? -

Dog in road 5 Dec 2016 (Forum)
My grandson, who is new driver, was behind a 10reg mini the other day. The mini braked suddenly to avoid a dog in the road and my grandson hit him in the rear. The dogs owner quickly gathered up his dog and put in his car and left the scene. The owner of the mini is now trying to privately claim £700 from my grandson. -
Ford Fiesta ST - annoying whirring rattle 11 Nov 2016 (Forum)
Annoying whirring rattle from behind glove box area that only happens when the engine is under old and above around 30mph... Any ideas? Was thinking maybe wheel bearings? Or maybe an issue with the front near side brakes? Any help or ideas would be appreciated! The ST has done 52k and has never had any issues before now.
