SAAB 9-3 (2007 - ) - Saabs gone downhill, or rose tints at work? 1 May 2008 (Forum)
As I grabbed the keys to go for a drive, I felt a pang of anticipation and excitement that no car in years has provided. What a disappointment! The interior is stylish, but the finish feels nothing like special enough for a £28k car. The driving position is strange with the steering wheel always feeling too close, whatever you do with the seat and wheel. -
Failing to buy a new car. 13 Jan 2006 (Forum)
He hit 60 in a 40, gve me a 2 mile drive and then failed to take any details... Why does it need to be so hard? Now thinking about Skoda! -
Old F*rts Thread 25 Jun 2001 (Forum)
By now, all I can think about, sad I know, is the Spielberg film Duel where Dennis Weaver is chased by an unmarked black Mack tanker. (what was Weaver driving in that film?) So how do you think it ended? All I will say is could that b*stard drive! -
Buying Advice - £5K 22 Jul 2025 (Forum)
The main features I’m looking for are; Comfortable for motorway driving. Space for family (and can handle 2 kids and all their stuff); Fuel Efficiency (as much as possible). Reliability & Simplicity. Preferably; Decent bit of oomph when required. A bit more tech than my Focus (2011 radio feels quite dated now). -
Vauxhall Frontera 1,2 hybrid auto - First Impressions 22 Feb 2025 (Forum)
Had a short test drive this morning in a LHD Frontera, Thoughts. Friendly, not pushy sales "exec". Adequate room in the front !! Seats felt ok and enough room for me with seat all the way back. -
New job, new car 6 Feb 2025 (Forum)
So I am pondering a car for my short commute and local pottering. My budget is £6k. Something electric might be suitable as I have a big drive and can easily charge at home. My heart tells me to buy a small Fiat for the fun factor. But my head says buys a Nissan Leaf. Ideally I would like something that easily seats four, is an auto so my wife can drive and isn’t too costly to run (although with doing so few miles, economy isn’t necessarily an issue). -
What do you think of cycling mikey? 6 Aug 2024 (Forum)
I think this is ironic as he claims to care about road safety but trying to agitate and humiliate drivers must surely put them in a state that means they're unfit to drive? To be clear I have nothing against people going after genuinely dangerous drivers. If you see someone on the phone while driving (not stationary) I wouldn't blame you for reporting them Anyway I wanted to know the general consensus here. -
Astra 2016 Dashboard Lights Issues 22 Jul 2024 (Forum)
This was everything from radio, speedometer etc. As it seemed to correct itself, I drove off (car is running fine). Unfortunately while driving, every couple of miles it would happen again. One of my tyres needed pressure so I went to top that up, thinking maybe this was causing the computer to trip. Unfortunately after that and driving for a few minutes, it happened once more but this time absolutely nothing has came back on. -
Qashqai 2nd gen auto - Is self charging Hybrid better for me? 19 Mar 2024 (Forum)
Want to replace my 15 plate Qashqai either with a Self charging Hybrid or 3rd gen normal Qashqai Automatic. Used of course. Now with the hybrids, I’ve read that many have flat batteries if you don’t drive often, which I hadn’t known! I often leave my car on my driveway for 2/3 days without driving and my current car doesn’t have flat batteries. Considering my usages, do you recommend the 3rd gen mild hybrid Qashqai auto or still think a full hybrid is better say a Toyota. -

Ford S-MAX - When to replace high mileage 30 Mar 2023 (Forum)
We have a 2012 Ford S-MAX 2.0 TDCi Titanium with 160k mileage bought at 136k mileage one owner in 2019 (was a high mileage car for someone driving 19k p.a . We don’t think the DPF has been replaced before we bought it. We drive around 7k per year, short journeys mainly unfortunately (life changes.. bought before pandemic yes that means a diesel isn’t the right choice now .. !) -
Best Car Someone With Mobility Issues 1 Nov 2022 (Forum)
I've been looking online and it's leading me to believe that I may have to look into getting a small SUV. Not thrilled at the thought of getting one as I am used to driving smaller vehicles but needs must at the moment! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as I am just so not sure where I even begin! Thank you! -
Romanian registered former UK cars 24 Sep 2022 (Forum)
Travelling to France and back weekly via the ferries on the Dover Straits, I have noticed that recently there has been a surge of UK right hand drive cars coming to the UK with Romanian number plates. I am not sure why it is necessary to drive these cars all the way to Romania and then bring them back, rather than just leaving them as UK registered cars, except that now the cars would be impervious to speed cameras and parking fines. -
dilemma - manual vs automatic 18 Aug 2022 (Forum)
hello, I'm in the market for advice on my first car - I passed five years ago on a manual but then didn't drive until now, borrowing my mother's automatic hybrid to commute 60 miles a day. given the state of the car buying market, would it make more sense to relearn manual and buy a decent used manual rather than an extra expensive automatic that'll presumably only depreciate? -
Citroen Grand C4 Picasso 1560 Diesel - Serious Dipped Beam Problem on Citroen C4 GPicasso 12 May 2022 (Forum)
I have had this car for nearly a year. It has 10k on the clock. I dont drive it at night as the dipped beam is so poor its dangerous. I upgraded the bulbs to Philips GT200 but the car is still unsafe to drive because of poor visibility. I took it to Halfords and no problems on their machine. -
Performance Family Car 24 Mar 2022 (Forum)
Although I want safety I also care about the environment and I personally have a bit of a difficulty trying to convince myself to go the SUV route and would rather avoid if possible as well as the fact we do a lot of town driving with occasional 2-4hr drives every couple of months (so want to go petrol). Budget max £20k - thoughts? -
Ford Ka+ Active - Crunching / crushing sound from front of car 17 Jan 2022 (Forum)
I have a ford ka+ 2018, owned it for a week and noticed when I’m driving over speed bumps there’s a strange sound from the front left of the car. I have googled the issue and applied Wd40 specialist silicone spray to the control arm bushes and took it out for a test drive and it’s still the same. -
Average Speed Camera's and ACPO 13 Dec 2021 (Forum)
Given that in a 50 limit ACPO guidelines allow a true speed of 57mph, that would be around 60mph on most speedos, I reckon that is is the limit that is being pushed by more drivers than ever these days. What's more some of them, particularly the lorries I'm affraid, drive very aggressively towards anyone not doing the same. -
Used CRV vs Dacia Duster ! 22 Nov 2021 (Forum)
Buy a cheap well maintained 2.0 CRV ( around 2005 ) for £1500 plus a cheap petrol car for around £1500 Advantages: Son can use small car when driving to uni rather than the big car Disadvantage: CRV is about 25mpg and there will be 2 sets of tax and insurance but will save a bit of money initially OR 2. Spend £3500 on a used 1.5Dci Dacia Duster Advantage: around 45mpg, one insurance and mot, much newer car Disadvantage: My son will have to learn to drive the big car everywhere he goes ! -
Renault Clio - dpf cleaning on a renault clio regeneration 7 Sep 2021 (Forum)
I have read that the Clio has a regeneration system that will clean out the filter on a long run, but unsure how this works. I have read that driving at high revs can do more damage to the engine driving on a motorway in a lower gear even though I have seen this on YouTube. I am planning on taking the car on a good run down the motorway in the next couple of weeks.
