• Citroen Xsara Picasso - Clunking Noise 17 May 2020 (Forum)
  In April i noticed a clunk whenever i steered moderately/ hard to the right, ie slow speed turning and parking. To my untrained ear it sounded like the driver-side suspension. I took the car to a garage and they replaced the coil spring and checked the CV joint and suspension. All seemed fine. About 2 weeks ago a new sound developed.

   My car was serviced and drums fine in Sept 2015.   I don't do any heavy driving, no harsh braking and I do not park on any steep hills with handbrake on.   I'd like some opinions and advice please...

  Was driving along went to drop from 3rd to 2nd at a junction lost power, 1st and 2nd gear nothing happens its like i have the car in neutral. 3rd 4th 5th 6th and reverse are all fine. Mechanic who came out to me said selector is working fine its a fault inside the gearbox. Another mechanic who i spoke to today while picking up parts for someone elses car said it sounds like the selector...?

  Just brought my 2.0 tddi mondeo from an auction. Didnt pay too much for it. I got in it, it started fine and the idle sat fine (it was quite smokey but i put this down to being a deisel). I then took it for a little drive, now i have never had one of these before so dont actually know how much power they are ment to have, but as i put my foot down it just didnt feel like it had much go, also the big problem, if i put my foot down in first or second it judders like mad, so i stopped and revved it to 2k rmp, i keep my foot still, but the needle was all over the place and felt to be misfiring quite badly and also puffed a lot of smoke out .

  This is particularly annoying when it occurs at a car park exit barrier!! In terms of once it's started it still drives fine though. I've had the ECU fault codes read, then reset, then the light comes on around 30miles later. I paid 170quid last week to have the EGR valve replaced, as this was on the fault code.

  They reckon it was caused by a battery not at its peak (unlikely as it's only about a year old), and found some fault codes in the ECU which they cleared & it was then OK. Similar thing happened on saturday - wouldn't restart after being parked for 5 minutes. Turned over fine but wouldn't fire - seemed pretty much like an immobiliser problem again. When the breakdown truck arrived 20 minutes later, it started first time! It didn't seem to pick up cleanly from idle, and the mechanic thought it sounded as though it was running rich.

  Shirley Alexander ... was heading to Marine Drive, when she noticed a red Uno in front her - with exactly the same licence plate number as her car. For two years, the Alexander family has been receiving traffic and speeding fines in the post, mostly for violations in the southern suburbs. Unfortunately, the traffic authorities have not been sympathetic to their arguments that the fines could not possibly belong to them, and they\'ve had to cough up hundreds of rands in fines.

  The car has a full service history and has literally just been through a full service and MOT. I had a new battery fitted around 3 months ago, so I know the battery is fine. So I was out yesterday at the park. I go to get in the park to come home, key goes in the ignition, all the dash lights come on as normal.....but then nothing. I turn the key and there is no sound, just nothing.

  Hi,   I parked my car in fine working order a couple of weeks ago and a week later I tried to start it and it wouldn't turn up. There was nothing happening when I tried to turn it on, no sound, no noise. The lights on the dash were still coming on fine and battery seemed to be ok as all electrics were working.

  I am not sure why it is necessary to drive these cars all the way to Romania and then bring them back, rather than just leaving them as UK registered cars, except that now the cars would be impervious to speed cameras and parking fines. A lot of the cars seemed to be poorly maintained. You would also wonder if you had an accident with one of these Romanian registered cars and it was the other drivers fault, what your chance of claiming to repair your own car would be?

  No trees near the car or haven't parked under any that I can recall. Haven't actually used the car for 10 days anyway. I got some of it with my finger nail but don't really want to scrape it off. I am thinking of white spirit or methylated spirit to clean it off.

  Car starts fine, stopped at junctions or parked after driving very shaky idle. Burning smell after driving. Loss of power when driving and also when pulling away, can be driving along at 40mph then speed suddenly drops to 20mph without taking foot off pedal.

  I have been having problems starting it since the overheating and this morning it just wouldnt start and I'm worried that if it does It won't on the way back from work.  I have been starting it by turning the starter motor (which is fine along with the battery) over and having to pump petrol in with the fuel pedal but it has been taking longer and longer and this perticullarly cold morning I have just given up as I don't want my car stuck in work's car park.

  I replaced the battery and alternator about 18 months ago but it's showing all the symptoms of a battery that won't hold enough charge. For instance I parked up last night after a 40 mile journey. This morning it turned over ok but didn't catch. I tried again and there wasn't enough charge left to crank it sufficiently. I took it to Halfords last week and the lad put his battery tester on it and told me it had "60% starting capacity", whatever that means, and that "it should be fine".

   It will then drive for a while and then if i stop somewhere and then restart the engine even a couple of hours later it will start fine again.  It seems to be only when i leave it for overnight or longer.   Just some extra info that may be irrelevan but when i use the electric windows they seem to be going a little slower than normal and finally if i park the car and then use the radio or cd player while the engine is off, even for just a minute or two, the engine will not start again next time as the battery will be flat?

  Well I have just spent the best part of 5 hours trying to tidy up the roof of my Sorrento. Its been a case of out of sight out of mind. Regularly gets parked outside my house under some low trees. Having washed and scrubbed off the deposits I have been left with small spots of an amber resin that have eaten into the lacquer. Combination of fine wet and dry, T-cut with a dab of cellulose thinners and a wipe with the same thinners has managed to get the most off and produce a reasonable surface.

  just had a new 306 (2001) HDI estate and am trying to sort out 1 or 2 niggly electrical problems 1st of all rear wiper stopped working but now and again decides to work 2nd number plate lights- 1 works the other is off and on if i tap it 3rd one reverse light works one doesnt could this be one problem i.e. dodgey wires or does it sound like i should go through each one? the rain sensative wiper works well but doesnt seat the wipers well when parking. theres a jump with a click from the relay. does this sound like the relay and finally there is a whining sound from the front passenger side now and again when turning the wheel. power steering fluid is fine and alternator belt.
