2015 Audi A3 2.0 TDI 184, manual - A3 tdi satnav 'not enabled', headlamp dash message 16 Feb 2023 (Forum)
hi all, My A3's Satnav has the 'not enabled' message, on the pop up screen. The Multimedia unit, in the glovebox, does have 2 slots, horizontal, about an inch long each, marked 'SD1' and SD2' So i take it its not a CD i need, to get the Nav operable, but some kind of SD card? -
Citroen ds3 1.6 ehdi - Has my Head Gasket gone? 21 Jun 2022 (Forum)
I took it out for a 15min run around the block and white smoke was pouring out the back, checked the coolant and it had gone below the Min mark after I'd filled it to just under the max also it had turned a brownish colour. Strange thing s the coolant has also returned to the same level after leaving it to cool. Engine bay was very hot too around the turbo area. I had it idling and it doesn't smoke which is odd and coolant seems OK. -
2018 Audi A3 1.5 TFSi manual - Low mileage Audi A3 clutch issues 2 Sep 2021 (Forum)
We’ve just got rid of an Alfa Giulia that we only had for 8 months and was no end of trouble! Traded it in against a 2018 Audi A3 1.5 TFSi S-line (manual) with 26k miles on the clock. Only had it a couple of days and it’s already concerning me… The clutch biting point is REALLY high, the pedal is almost fully up before it bites. The clutch is not heavy and there is no clutch slip in any gears. -
Mercedes Estate - Dodgy Solicitors? 31 Aug 2021 (Forum)
They want me to be responsible for payment of their legal fees and any award of costs which might be made should the claim fail, which it surely would for lack of independent witnesses I have had no such request direct from the insurance company, and even if I had would obviously have refused. This beggar`s belief! There is no reason for me to make a claim my insurers` behalf and underwrite the legal costs associated with it. Is it proper that this proposal should have been made at all by an established firm of solicitors, or is it a scam? -
Ford Focus - Garages/repairs 8 Jul 2021 (Forum)
This seems to happen regardless of where i take it (talking about many cars over many years). Often they already know what needs doing and say the part/s will be ordered beforehand. So why do I have to spend all day without transport for a job that takes 1-2 hrs? Im not counting jobs where unknown issues may crop up. If a job takes half the day max, why cant i arrange to leave it with them for either the am or pm? -

Driving standards following lockdown 14 Apr 2021 (Forum)
This isn't your typical "all the drivers around me are m****s" thread. Or rather, I'm the m****. After hardly driving for a year, I'm very aware that I need to concentrate more on my driving as I restart. As an example, I'd forgotten how to engage the cruise control. -
Honda Civic 2017 - Narrower rims and tyres 29 Dec 2020 (Forum)
These were expensive Continental tyres and i was led to believe that the half inch difference in the rim diameter would not be a problem but given the damage , i am now not so sure . It ‘s a comfortable ride at the recommendation 32 psi But should i inflate the tyres a bit more to prevent damage Thank you in advance -
Honda Accord 1.8 SE Auto 1999 - resetting the alarm 18 Mar 2020 (Forum)
So I'm presuming its the alarm which is draining so I've needed to lock it with the deadlocks.Sometime in the past I'm sure I needed to reset it and there was a button/switch in one of the rear''s back section. I can no mention of it in the manual or online. Does anyone have any thoughts, I've just all the obvious things to solve it? Cheers BC -

CVT transmission failure 21 Dec 2019 (Forum)
Dear All My 2013's cars transmission failed at below 30,000 miles recently and it was confirmed by diagnostics. After reviewing all the online information and other reviews at Honest John it looks clear to me that this is a very common fault and maybe the manufacturer have breached all affected peoples consumer rights by supplying parts that are not of a satisfactory quality? -
Volkswagen Lupo - Custom plates-cool and quirky or knobby and jerky? 18 Sep 2019 (Forum)
The title says it all really. I knock about in my little Lupo when the weather's too s***e for the motorbikes. Perfect little car for me, my missus is sick of not knowing what to get me n all, she suggested a funny number plate and we were able to find this gogo lup plate... -

Citroen Xsara Picasso - Citroen Xsara PIcasso Gearbox Stuck 10 Jul 2018 (Forum)
I have removed 10 gearbox bolts, these include the 3 starter motor bolts, I have also removed the nearside driveshaft, the gearbox mount on the n/s and the bolts holding the offside driveshaft in place and the bolts holding the plate between the engine and gearbox. It now moves slightly and has come away slightly from the engine as you can now see part of the flywheel, but it doesn't budge anymore than that it is stuck but I don't understand what is keeping it in place still, has anyone on here had any previous experience of removing these gearboxes as it simply will not budge free. -
Shock horror! - car failed its MoT £800 for DRL 4 Jun 2018 (Forum)
My 2012 car failed its MoT due to a faulty DRL - is this right? A couple of days ago my 2012 BMW 520d failed its MoT due to O/S DRL not working. The dipped and high beams worked fine. It cost me almost £800 to change the whole headlight and the DRL module to pass the MoT. They quoted 4.2.1(a) for the failure summary is as below Repair immediately (major defects): Offside Front Position lamp not working (4.2.1 (a)) Are they right to do that as my understanding is that DRL rule has changed just last month and only apply on new cars and effectively applicable from 2021. -
Nissan Maxima SV 3.5l and Hyundai Tucson Auto SEL - Usa 19 May 2018 (Forum)
Thirsty round town. Great hire car but I dont want to own one. It's my opinion it's inferior to my Vitara S in pretty much every way. Two thousand miles over here and I want to go home now. -
Ford Mondeo Estate - Heated washer jets loom fault 10 Apr 2018 (Forum)
Wonder if anyone can copy that part of the circuit diagram for me, so I can rewire it when I've ascertained which jet/s need replacing, if any. Could have just been a short to ground though. Would like to know if they're wired from a single feed plug, ( 2 wire) and how they're wired from their. Don't have any washers either yet as the short caused one of the water tubes to melt ;-) Thanks in advance. -
Micra k12 1.2 - Micra battery drain problem 6 Dec 2017 (Forum)
I understand that there may have been a know fault with the immobiliser draining the battery on some early Micra K12's and that it can be solved by a software update? Does anyone know if this is true or what the possible fix is? Simon. -
leon st, volvov 60, mazda 6 message 26 Oct 2017 (Forum)
The Mazda 6 tourer is an option but they are so long that I can see car park prangs (not by me) on the horizon. I have ruled out the Octavia due to horrendous noise in the cabin. Mazda CX5's seem to be so over priced for what they are and I'm not sure I can do the whole SUV thing. Noticed skidpan settled on a Superb, which is a very long car just wondered if you got used to it? Any other suggestions that arn't Dacias of Dayyonggos (or whatever they called) are welcome.
