Peugeot 3008 - High pitched intermittent rotational sound - HELP! 7 Mar 2025 (Forum)
(Peugeot 3008, 1.2 petrol, manual, 17 plate) My first guess was brakes - but they have 50% left... The annoying thing is when I start driving my car from cold - the noise isn't there - takes around 10 mins of driving to become apparent - so when garage took it for drive - they couldn't replicate the noise... but I've had the noise for a few weeks now... -
Renault Clio S Edition 1.0 TCe CVT 2020 - Front Radar malfunction and other alarms 14 Dec 2024 (Forum)
The car was delivered back by the Dealership driver and later on driving the car again found that the Front Radar alarm was still activating affecting active braking and I believe the adaptive cruise control. Has anybody else had had the same issues as I and had there been any solutions to it. -
Lexus LS - 2020 Lexus LS500h or 2019/2020 BMW 750i xDrive or S Class 27 May 2023 (Forum)
However, this being our primary car, we will also be using it for all family trips including any longer driving trip outside the country. I also need to sometimes travel for work within country and prefer to drive over taking a train if it is not too far from where I live. I am currently searching for one with under 40K miles on the clock. -
Tyres VS kerbs 13 Apr 2023 (Forum)
But would I be able to secure them so someone couldn't just pick them up and take them away?. I may be being overcautious re the likelihood of damage if I am driving, as I'd come to a stop with the tyre against the kerb then ease gently up on to it. But my wife, who gave up her license for medical reasons, is thinking of appealing to get back behind the wheel and she is a bit more ham fisted in her driving!. -
Audi A3 - Spontaneous combustion 1 Feb 2023 (Forum)
My wife's car is a 16 year old Audi A3 with the 1.9 TDi engine and has been fairly painless to own despite her driving mostly short journeys around rural lanes. She couldn't give me any more information as she was obviously pre-occupied with the potential conflagration. On my return I saw the car was on the drive with the bonnet up and generally looking a bit sad. -
Audi A4 Avant - Adblue Range 31 Jan 2023 (Forum)
Here's the fault - Emissions warning light illuminated and at the same time the DIS states "Adblue fault - 700 miles until car will not re-start". So, I had to drive to Glasgow from home today for work (210 miles), so car now states "450 miles until car will not re-start". So it seems to be counting down OK. I will need to drive 210 miles back home, and then I have managed to book the car into a dealer 120 miles away (local Audi dealer saying - no appointments until the end of April......). -
Kia Ceed - Technology and Driver Conveniences 31 Dec 2021 (Forum)
Another surprising thing for me was how easy it is to live with the start stop system, though it does seem to encourage the American style of driving of always keeping your foot on the brakes when stationary; I was taught to put the car in neutral if at a a standstill for any length of time to avoid dazzling the driver behind - but that’s showing my age! -
Demystifying Hybrid System Indicator 23 Nov 2021 (Forum)
I don't drive a hybrid at the moment but I intend to get a hybrid as my next car. I find one of the most baffling part of driving a hybrid is to interpret the HSI (Hybrid System Indicator) gauge. This example is from Toyota but all hybrids have similar HSI. -
Used car buying advice - trader working from home 16 Nov 2021 (Forum)
If I'd turned up at a dealership I'd feel super comfortable about the sale, the car looks in great condition, drives great, and although it's not the cheapest deal in the world the price offered aligns with valuations from HPI/Parkers. I'm just a little cautious about his setup selling from his drive (although also sympathetic since I am also work for myself from home!). -
Renault Clio 2017 - Lipping on Brake discs 11 Mar 2021 (Forum)
All my time having cars and my last megane had 50,000 miles on the clock and i have never had to replace the pads or discs. Only thing that has changed is my wife passing her test 3 years ago and she now mainly drives the car, so is it her driving , she assures me that she does not drive with her foot resting on the brake pedal and that she is not always braking. (Lookers) Renault are wanting £320 to replace disc's and Pads, Not sure if this is the going rate, but it does need done after checking myself I am very good at DIY and used to do things myself, But knowing manufacturers, They will make it difficult for someone like me to change the discs and pads. -
Vauxhall Astra - Intercooler/ headgasket 26 Nov 2020 (Forum)
Hi all, I'm looking for some advice on what might be the best outcome for my car... So yesterday whilst driving, my heater became intermittent and began blowing cold air and eventually it blew only cold air. I also noticed towards the end of my journey that it was slightly more difficult to accelerate but I was only driving on 30 roads so it wasn't clear how much of a problem it was. -
Nissan x trail - Rejecting Used car within 30 days 19 Aug 2019 (Forum)
I have been accommodating and waited for garage owner - as he was away - they want me to take the car back to them so they can inspect it. But I cannot drive the car as it makes me ill - also the alternator belt has splits in several places. A friend has offered to drive the car (45 miles) but someone told me that if he has problems with the fumes, or alternator belt breaks I could be liable and the garage should come to inspect it here? -
Honda Civic (2010-2011) or Mazda 3 (2009+) - First Car: Civic (2010-2011) or Mazda 3 (2009+) 9 Mar 2019 (Forum)
At 28 I am finally learning to drive and look to be passed in the next month. After many weeks/months of looking around, I am still undecided about which car I should go for. I am looking for a reliable, petrol, semi-practical and fun car to drive, with a budget upto £4000. -
Old Van - Earn while I drive 26 Nov 2018 (Forum)
Arrange one of those extortionate £20 just to connect then plenty more to use the service phone numbers, that pays me. Buy a big, cheap but robust white van. Put a removable sign on the back of the van: "How's my driving? Ring [the extortionate number]". Work my way round the towns and cities of GB, not staying anywhere too long. Sticking to about three-quarters of the applicable speed limit. Observing whether it is safe to proceed for a long time at every green light. -
SUV choice: XC60/Kuga/CX-7 12 Nov 2018 (Forum)
The Kuga seems to be difficult to find with heated seats, but they exist, and the XC60 seems hard to find in D5 type spec, whilst still retaining the DRIVe simplicity (FWD, lower tuned higher economy engine etc). I used to work for Ford, and later Volvo, and drove plenty of XC60s and have a good technical service knowledge of them, but I didn't really pay much attention to the drive on the pre-2014 models, and I don't really have any knowledge of foibles/weaknesses. -
Any - Rusty cars 5 Feb 2018 (Forum)
....they seem to be a thing of the past. Only one I see locally nowadays is an M reg Rover, and I really don't know how the old chap who drives it keeps it on the road. Wheelarches gone, and featuring the sort of outward facing shreds of metal that should condemn it to the scrappie, all the wings a very unfetching combination of rust red and white. -
Can I drive this car? Tax/Registered Keeper Query 6 Apr 2017 (Forum)
He argues that I don't need tax as he's still the registered keeper and only when the new V5 comes through (which he'll then post back off again and give me the VC5C/2 New Keeper Supplement) will I need to worry about it. Could someone advise whether I'm ok to drive this car? Many thanks for your help . -
V reg ford ford 2.0 petrol - LOUD bang from underneath car earlier. 21 Aug 2016 (Forum)
Slowly drove home and put on the drive. Have been underneath and pulled everything that might be loose ( DIY ) and visual inspection cant see anything. Just moved it off the drive to get other car out and 2 more bang ( quieter this time as I was only about 3/5 MPH ). -

I was driving at a true (GPS) 70mph when conditions permitted and using outside lane as an overtaking lane (as per Highway Code). -
TOYOTA ETIOS 2014 - TOYOTA ETIOS JERKING AND REVVING UP 14 Jun 2016 (Forum)
After I bought a new Toyota Etios 2014, about 6 months, it started jerking (going faster and slower) without me using the excellerator. Then all of a sudden it started revving up. I can drive about 1km after starting the car, trying to stop at a stop st or robot and it will rev up to about 2000 - 3000, and this is when I have my foot on the brake. Even if i drive downhill, freeing, not using the excellerator, it revs up to about 1500.
