Volkswagen T5 Camper / Van - PD Engines ? 30 Oct 2013 (Forum)
Could anyone tell me if there are any engines to avoid as they don't seem to follow the same outputs as VAG road cars (84 & 102PS). I want to avoid DPF's and later versions (BXE?) Any help welcome. -
Citroen Berlingo Multispace - Diesel Particulate Filters? 11 May 2013 (Forum)
Does the current model Berlingo Multispace have a DPF? I think they started in 2008 and wondered if the early models might not have them as my mileage would not suit a car fitted wiith one but I still want a diesel so might have to look at the earlier model. -
FIAT Doblo - To Doblo or not to Doblo? 20 May 2010 (Forum)
I have an 08 Doblo 1.3 multijet but am having problems with the DPF, mainly because I do lots of short journeys. Otherwise it is great! Should I trade in for a new petrol Doblo whilst my current one has some value or stick with my 1.3 diesel? Tempted by 0% finance and put off my diesel in the long term as planned to keep it for few years. -
Ford Focus Estate - 1.0 Ecoboost vs 1.6 TDCI 29 Feb 2024 (Forum)
Which would be the safer bet for reliabilty and potential repair costs, the ecoboost or the TDCI? The TDCI would save me slightly more in fuel, but obviously introduced a DPF which is a big potential drawback over the ecoboost. Thanks for any help, all opinions welcome and appreciated. -
Renault Captur 1.5dCi - Check Anti-Pollution System 10 May 2022 (Forum)
Over the past three weeks the car has done close on 1500 miles, the majority on motorways, so I’m confident the DPF should be clear. I’m thinking it’s a sensor issue, but without a code reader I’ve no way of narrowing down the search. Anyone any ideas? 19 registered, 26K miles. -
Car for Disabled Mum 18 Apr 2022 (Forum)
Are there any van conversions that the forum can recommend that can take a wheelchair, ideally allowing the wheelchair to be in the passenger seat position or allow movement between the loaded wheelchair (with passenger) and then the passenger transferring to the passenger seat? No diesels please with a DPF please as mileage is under 5k per year. Many thanks! -
2018 2.2d - Mazda6 diesels 1 Mar 2021 (Forum)
I do around 25-30k a year so the car will be with me until at least the 150k mark. I am well aware of the dpf issues and have suffered badly with them on a BMW. But for the mileage and usage is it such a bad bet for me?? -

Toyota Yaris - Toyota genuine motor oil or castrol 24 Feb 2017 (Forum)
Hi, I am after a ACEA C2 0w30 for my toyota yaris with dpf. I called a few toyota dealers but its sunday and their parts dept is closed. Anyways, in the manual toyota recommends "Toyota Genuine Motor Oil". Is the better to get that or will a castrol be fine. -

Jaguar XF - Using wyns diesel particulate filter cleaner 22 May 2015 (Forum)
Hello, I have been having problems with the DPF clogging up and alarming and have started to use wyns diesel particulate filter cleaner , adding it every month. This seems to be working really well as I have had no more alarms but this treatment is not recognised by Jaguar and I am worried that I may invalidate my warranty. -

Ford Focus - 2.0TDCI vs 1.6TDCI reliability 22 Nov 2013 (Forum)
I'm looking at buying a 2.0TDCI Focus 2009 with 54K and ford FSH, but seeing all the bad stories about the 1.6 has put me off a bit . Is the 2.0 TDCI likely to throw up the same issues as the 1.6 TDCI re: the DPF etc? Cheers, Tim (i also posted on the technical forum in error - sorry) -
Skoda Octavia - diesel or petrol reliability 16 Nov 2012 (Forum)
I am seeking some advice on whether its better to buy a petrol Octavia over a diesel. My main worry with the diesel is the usual dpf, dmf and injector problems. I do about 40k a year and get paid 20p a mile fuel plus a monthly payment. I can't afford the new CR diesel and so it would be a PD if I bought one. Any advice would be appreciated. -
Diesel engine filtering atmosphere at 0.06 28 Aug 2012 (Forum)
But that said, always take it up to 4,000 revs once, on every hot engine trip. Sad that later incarnations are fitted with a DPF, but I suppose they are even better on the emissions test. Are they? -
08 Ford Mondeo Estate titanium 1.8 TDI - Nobody has been able to diagnose problem - HELP! 2 Jul 2020 (Forum)
However, this morning i was driving my son to school and the car went into engine malfunction, limp home mode doing 20mph around residential areas. 4 - DPF clean - After extensive googling and speak to people, it sounded like the DPF filter needed to be cleaned. All of the symptoms matched up, and my handbook said my car had a DPF filter fitted but when i got it to halfords, they said i did not have a DPF filter. -
Diesel and DPF 2 Mar 2024 (Forum)
When I bought my car last year (TDi) I was doing regular 60 mile motorway trips 2 or 3 times a week. Since then my circumstances have changed dramatically... -
Choosing an SUV for long drives? 28 Jun 2023 (Forum)
I was disappointed to discover that recent versions of the Honda CR-V are not available in diesel, and I am concerned about getting a bad DPF if I get a used diesel. I'm also a bit concerned about DPF theft. I am aware of the CR-V, RAV4, Kodiaq, Sportage, Kuga, CX-5, CX-60, XC40, XC60, XC90. I have test driven several of these and I have no real complaints, aside from poor fuel efficiency on some – particularly new petrol and hybrid CR-Vs. -
Mazda 3 2.2 Sport Nav '17 - Mazda 3 2.2 Skyactiv Diesel Facelift issues 27 Apr 2022 (Forum)
Is there anything I need to watch out for? I always use premium diesel and I assume it's cleaner and prevents DPF and Injector blockages, somewhat? Be honest, if I've made a mistake I'll get rid but I'm hoping I've done the right thing. It's done 47k with full Mazda history and is on a 17 plate.
