  • New Fiat 500 revealed: popular city car goes electric 4 Mar 2020 (News)
Sherpa is intended to provide a useful boost in range when required, reducing throttle response, limiting top speed to 50mph and switching off the climate control. Range, meanwhile, will increase with regenerative braking, meaning the car will slow down as soon as you lift of the accelerator. This pumps energy back into the battery and will help you travel further on a charge. An 85kW rapid-charge system means the battery can be topped up from zero to 80 per cent in 35 minutes, while 31 miles of range can be provided in just five minutes.
  • A Grand Monday: Toyota Celica 5 Aug 2019 (News)
And according to the MoT history it’s been pretty reliable. It needed some work in 2013 when it failed because of binding rear brakes, a power steering leak, and damaged covers on the ball joints and anti-roll bars. But since then, the only hiccup has been for worn tyres or wiper blades. The owner has been using this as his daily driver for the past couple of years.
  • Ferrari Dino set for Race Retro sale 5 Feb 2019 (News)
In 1991, the cars long-term owner treated it to a major overhaul, an engine rebuild, and a paint refresh, all of which was photographed and documented in a leather-bound photo album containing 232 pictures. Last year the Dino received an overhaul of the suspension and brakes, as well as other minor works, at a cost of almost £10,000. More recently, it was treated to new seats, new carpets, and a dashboard and interior re-trim in the correct, factory-supplied, ‘mouse hair’.
  • A Grand Monday: Audi 80 Cabriolet 12 Nov 2018 (News)
.  During his tenure, the owner has treated it to a cylinder head overhaul, new clutch and new brakes all round, with only some minor wheelarch rust detracting from the car's overall condition.  It also has the added benefits of an electric roof and unusual green leather trim, while the 'JB' number plate (just like Diana's second Audi) leads us to believe it may have been an Audi press or demo car when it was new.
  • C1, C2 and C3 Corvettes in Historics 19th May Sale 5 May 2018 (News)
The 1966 C2 Stingray roadster is a 350ci ‘big block’ 4-speed manual featuring an all original interior and soft-top. In 2014 the body was sandblasted and repainted, the suspension and braking systems were overhauled with new parts. And the engine was fitted with fresh oil seals throughout. The car came to the UK via Germany in 2016 and is supplied with paperwork to register it in the UK, including the US certificate of title, the NOVA certificate, an MoT test certificate to April 2019, the German import papers and a V55/5, but the new owner will need to get a dating certificate from the Corvette club.

  • A Grand Monday: Mazda RX-8 20 Nov 2017 (News)
A recent service, new brakes discs and pads and an expensive exhaust system also imply that the car has been enthusiast owned, as, indeed, do the photographs - good pictures are an essential part of any used car advert, and it's amazing how many sellers don't realise this.  It does need some work - chiefly a few minor cosmetic bits and pieces and an air con re-gas, but it also comes with over six months' MoT and a chunky service history.  Being the 192PS model, it's not the 'quick' one, but these were plenty lively enough, and even at the full asking price, this car sounds like a veritable bargain.
  • Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 MFI up for auction 3 Oct 2017 (News)

  • A Grand Monday: MG ZS 28 Aug 2017 (News)
The car’s Birmingham-based private vendor reports that the panels are rust-free and the leather interior (with seats apparently from a Rover 45 Connoisseur) is in very good order. Adding to its visual appeal are optional 17-inch ZS alloys, and this MG also boasts a braking upgrade to ZS V6 spec. The ZS was one of the most popular members of the (2001-05) MG Z-car range, selling to those who found the 25-based ZR too small and the 75-derived ZT simply too expensive.

  • Save money: have your MoT done before your service 16 Jun 2017 (News)
The MoT test covers all of the major areas, such as bodywork, steering, suspension, emissions and brake performance. That just leaves any hidden leaks and planned renewal items, such as oil, filters, spark plugs and gearbox oils as the main things that would be covered by the service. "When booking the two together, you should always request that the MoT is done first so that there is less work to carry out on the service," said MotorEasy founder, Duncan McClure Fisher.  “While we know that not every single car will require work at every service or MoT, there’s a good proportion of motorists who are needlessly doubling up on costs.

The modified GT boasted a wealth of safety features, including airbags, anti-lock brakes, impact-absorbing side panels and the slightly odd-looking rearview mirror that gave the driver a 120-degree field of vision. Thick rubber bumpers were mounted low down for two reasons. Firstly, the point of impact would be in the sill arear (as opposed to the doors).

Frankfurt Motor Show 2015: Peugeot 308 GTi launched 15 Sep 2015 (News)
There’s only a 0.2-second difference between the two cars when it comes to the all-important 0-62mph sprint (6.2 seconds against six dead), but the higher-powered car has a mechanical limited slip differential which should make it handle significantly better, plus bigger and meatier brakes, deeper bucket seats and a few 270-specific options. Options like the Marmite two-tone paint job you see in the image above (called “Coupe Franche” if you’re interested), which is only available on the quicker car, ergo a nice way of belittling regular 308 GTi drivers without having to say a thing, or having to race them.

  • Legendary Jaguar test driver Norman Dewis awarded OBE 1 Jan 2015 (News)
During his 33-year career, Dewis completed more than a million test miles at an average speed of 100mph-plus and survived high-speed crashes in the days before seatbelts, without ever breaking a single bone. He also played a vital role in developing the revolutionary Dunlop disc brake. Of all the cars he worked on, Dewis considers the D-type to be the best. He said, ‘I got that car up to 192mph on the Mulsanne Straight at Le Mans. Well, I had to pass Karl Kling in the Mercedes.” Jaguar’s star driver at the time, Mike Hawthorn, had such faith in Dewis that when he was asked to attend a test session and saw that Dewis was already there, asked the team manager, ‘Why am I here?
