• Ford Focus CC diesel - £942 for a service and work - pants pulled down? 7 Oct 2013 (Forum)
  Took my 6 year old Focus CC turbo diesel (38000 miles) in for a service today.  I knew the brakes needed looking at (advisory on my last service) and I requested an air-con check. Service = £195, air-con check = £30. So I'd braced myself for a bill of at least £225. Guy phones me after two hours and says (a) front and rear discs and pads need replacing (b) wipers need replacing (c) fuel additive needs replacing otherwise the DPF could fail and land me with a £1500 bill (d) brake fluid needs changing   Total bill came in at £942.

  I'm getting a whining noise when the engine is first starting in the morning which disappears a soon as the engine has warmed up a little. Sounds like the water pump bearing, but the noise is coming from more in the direction of the air con pump. Switching  the air con on and off doesn't make any difference though. I have checked the water pump in situ and there is a very tiny amount of play in the bearing, but otherwise it feels smooth.

  i have problems whith my powering steering my hose pipe is goosed tryed to get new part but they dont make it any more it the one that goes into the pump with the electrical flow censor without air con i phoned ford up but they said that the company that supplied the part whent bust years ago and the only way i could get the part is buy is to go to a auto breakers but i had phoned round about a hundred breakers and they had not many in it seemed that the pumas that the had is with air con and the part is diffrentthe part number is 1044930 i would be very greatfull if you could help me as my puma is off the road untill i get this part thanx rob

  hi got heater fan sorted motor came from citroen in the end £106 new second hand ones £25+ and p&p on top with 30 days warrenty.my car had air con which means the fan motor had to to talk to air con!!!!got local auto electrictian to test and fit for £45. i am enquiring if xsara gear boxs need an oil change or top up.if so were do i find filler plug and drain plug.car has cover 105k miles in 7 years.box is very stiff and difficult in first couple of miles from cold start after it is very smooth.think of putting in millers oils trx gear oil to free up gear change.any advice gratefully received.

  hi can anyone help me my vectra keeps blowing a 30 amp fuse in the engine compartment ,there is a fuse holder at the front of the engine next to the battery. inside there are two fuses green 30 amp and are quite big.one of them keeps blowing but not all of the time .i dont know if this has something to do with my air con as it normally goes when its on but not all of the time.i do know that it has some thing to do with the fans as the temp goes up sky high.so pop a new one in and the fans come on again. i did have the front fan ghanged as this was seized up .so was this front fan the air con fan....and could it be a differant fan than went on my car ,as i got it from a scrap yard... any suggestions why it keeps blowing.

  Right: Old car - 1996 (N) Peugeot 406 1.9 TD LX. Metallic silver, 125k miles. No air con. Very good condition for year - belt change 10k miles ago, four new tyres (6mm on back, new on front), minor scratches and dings but nothing exceptional. Everything working. No history until 96k miles, sheaf of bills since then.

  The radiator on my 306 (1996, new shape DTurbo, with air con) needs replacing - the only problem is it looks like the radiator is married to the airconditioning condenser. Combine this with virtually zero clearance to disconnect the bottom hoses (located on drivers side) it looks like an absolute mare.

  My Taxi cut out yesterday when I pressed the air con button. Now it won't start. I thought it may be the imobiliser but I don't know how to reset it - any idea's

  I have a bit of a problem when i have my air-con or heating in the car on it just works on the windscreen, when i try to move the selector thing thing is moves but still no air or warmth coming out. its still stays on the windscreen. Im cooking in perth in my car can anyone help me please.

  The air-con on the wife's Focus appears to have packed up. The light on the switch says it's on but it plainly isn't. She keeps it permanently on low all year (to avoid seals drying out) but has only noticed it not working during the recent warm weather.

  Come lockdown it sat on the drive for 3 months, from the end of the extended warranty until I drove it down for its annual service and MOT at the end of June. I advised dealer Air Con wasn't working, although it had been when I drove it before, in Feburary. A bit of investigation later and now I am faced with a £2243.11 bill that has been reduced by 60% to £897.24 as apparently at some point in the 10 miles I drove from the point of expiry of the extended warranty to the dealership, the compressor, clutch, stator and filter sub assembly all wrote themselves off.

  As I understand that the two fans run in parallel and have two speeds for cooling. Before I changed my cooling fan last year my air con worked with just one cooling fan working. Before anyone asks - Yes I have checked the handbook and it only refers to cooling there is no mention of air con or compressor in any way. The Haynes manuals don't cover the cabriolet.

  I've just collected an Almera 1.8 with aircon. The manual air temperature control doe's not work. It has air con (it worked when I originally drove it). The control can be turned but on the cool air setting where it should allow outside air it just continues to pump out hot air.

  Regarding the auxilliary belt and the pulleys it drives. There are four pulleys , the crank, the alternator,  the water pump and the air con. My question what drives the power steering? Just curious.

  Hi, we bought a Ford Focus Zetec (2008) from a local dealer a couple of weeks ago. We noticed last weekend that the air con doesn't work. Not only does it not cool the car down but the fan hardly blows any air even when on maximum setting. We didn't notice it on the test drive as it was cold enought to not need air con but it wasn't cold enough for us to use the heating.

  Hi I have been having trouble with my Fiesta 2011 air con on it only gives cold air, on this model what controls the tempeture . On early model is done by a a valve but I can't find any mention in the haynes book I have it seems a bit vague , Any one got any any ideas what is wrong Many thanks for reading this.

  Any tips on the best way to deal/avoid this? I've done what my manual says - "turn the blower on and aim air down the sides" This is and old Passat estate - no air con, no blowers down the back The manual doesn't say what temp to blow at and I can't experiment too much while driving as I can't see - esp out the rear side windows any advice gratefully received
