Peugeot 307 (2001 - 2007) - 2001 2.0HDi - running problem 31 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Hi My 307 HDI 2.0 90 has an Anti-Pollution fault on screen but not always, it won't start sometimes and runs but kangeroos down the road and cuts out. Looking at the clear fuel pipe after the filter it runs with a lot of air in the pipe. If I pump the primer bulb it clears the air but as soon as I stop it comes back Any ideas on probable cause? Would the air cause the anti-pollution fault? -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 00 1.8 Noisy Engine 27 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Engine (1.8 petrol) rattly/tappety? On cold start which improves as heats up. Also noisy, similar noise over 2500 revs. Fuel economy and performance seem ok, recently had oil change with right oil but has not improved. Car has done 97,000 with little service history after 60,000. Also does not start easily from cold, sometimes needs a 2nd turn of the key. -
Paraffin burning `tramp steamer`detected on M1 21 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Isn`t paraffin and a splosh of engine oil just about as expensive as Derv? The last time I smelt paraffin was behind a Landrover during the last fuel strike. I thought cooking oil had taken over as the engine wrecker -
Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 96 1.8d MK4 - Poor MPG 19 Nov 2008 (Forum)
I have only just bought the car and on the assumption I would get about 50MPG, so I'm a bit disappointed. Is this normal for Fiesta diesels or could any adjustments be made by a garage to make it more fuel efficient. -

Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 1997 1.9 Induction Kit? 6 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Hi there, I'm looking at ways of getting a bit more power out of my car without altering the turbo. I have already fitted a K & N air filter which has made no noticeable difference, although fuel consumption has improved. My question is...........How much benefit could I expect to gain by fitting an induction kit. Kind regards, Gary. -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 99 2.0 xsi ticking over too quick 18 Sep 2008 (Forum)

Driving Instructor wages 26 Aug 2008 (Forum)
I was doing some rough sums and came to the conclusion you would have to work 60 hours a week to earn that, taking into account fuel, car maintenance, franchise cost etc. Bear in mind a 10 hour day as an instructor would only allow time for perhaps 8 lessons max when taking into account travelling time between pupils, lunch break etc. -
Toyota Prius II (2003 - 2008) - Discounts anywhere? 4 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Comparing it against a Focus 1.6 discounted at drivethedeal to under £12,000, it's impossible to justify because it would be aeons before the fuel savings offset the extra outlay. Does anyone know if anyone sells Prii (I presume that's the plural) cheap? -
Jaguar X-Type (2001 - 2009) - 05 2.0 engine misfiring 28 Jul 2008 (Forum)
This is stopped by either applying slightly more gas or lifting your foot off completely. It feels like fuel starvation but dirty filters would do that when loading up the engine not at a constant load, most odd has anyone any ideas? Phill -
Back to basics 14 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Suggestions and advice please - what is the best car that's reliable, inexpensive, simple and easy to fix, comfortable with reasonable performance, an everyday 4/5 seater ordinary car - not so concerned with size or fuel consumption but want just honest engineering and value - new or newish up to say £12K - does such a car exist in these days of Cam belts, DM flywheels, Ally wheels, Electric windows, Remote door locking, etc. none of which I want in a car - come back the last of the Cortinas? -

Honda Accord UK (2003 - 2008) - 04 2.2 puff of diesel smoke on starting 22 Jun 2008 (Forum)
It otherwise is running well (MPG over 50mpg of late - amazing compared to some reports) and I use Shell standard fuel. Oil level is fine. Should I wait until next service (several months away) or is this likely to merit early attention? -

The £100 fill up 30 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Lots of talk lately about the increasing cost of fuel and oil. So how long before it costs £100 to fill your tank up? It seems like everytime I fill one of my cars up I set a new personal record, the one at the weekend set me back £65. I saw diesel at £1.20 the other day, so maybe some owners of diesel cars are already at the £100 mark? -
Vauxhall Astra G Petrol (1998 - 2004) - Duelfuel 1.6 16v 03 Service due. 1 Apr 2008 (Forum)

Ford Fiesta (2002 - 2008) - 2004 1.4 diesel TDCi Injection pump/ECU problem 6 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Car (33,000 miles) just 4 years old failed to start. No previous problems. After 10 days Ford dealer claimed it was a faulty solenoid valve in fuel injection pump and replaced the pump. Then said that the engine management module had burnt out and needed replacing. How can this happen in a normally running engine or during diagnostic tests? -
Vauxhall Corsa B (1993 - 2000) - No spark 1 Dec 2007 (Forum)
Unfortunately when driven it would not accelerate and was parked up. Now it will not start at all, no fuel is coming through as there is no spark. I have checked the plastic drive to the distributor but that is ok. I'm sure you guys will be able to suggest what to check next. Thanks in anticipation.
