    Exotica included a 47k mile 2001X Porsche 911 996 Carrera convertible with hardtop and satnav which reached a provisional £38,750; a privately imported 73k mile 2002/52 Mercedes CL500 which sold for £36,400; a 21k mile 02 reg TVR Tuscan 4.0S which made a provisional £31,850; and a 59k mile 2000W Maserati 3200GT auto which bid to £24,000 provisional.

    (If you saw what they made, please e-mail me and I’ll include the prices.) But car of the day for me, at least the car that made my day, was an imported 34k mile 2001X SEAT Leon 20VT Sport bid to £8,100, which makes my lower mileage genuine UK car look very reasonable indeed at £8,500.     And another Ferrari, a 24k mile 99T 550 Maranello, sold for £66,000. Two Mercedes ML270CDIs sandwiched the same loaded but imported 52 reg X5 3.0D as a fortnight ago. This time the X5 bid to £42,500 (so much for an outside offer of £45,000); the 28k mile 2000W ML270 manual bid to £22,750. And the 21k mile 2001Y ML 270 auto bid to £26,750.

    The US-based 1960 6C 3000 CM Pininfarina Superflow IV had never been shown in the UK before and won over the judges at the prestigious Blenheim Palace event on Thursday, 31 August. Now in its 12th year, Salon Privé continues to attract some of the most important collector cars in the world, including a one-of-37 ‘covered headlamp’ 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider. Restored in the UK during 2012, this SWB-variant California Spider was a best in show runner-up and won its class.

    Please note this necessitates an early 10.00am start. But first, the most important thing. The postcode of the venue is SL5 7JX: Ascot Racecourse, Ascot High Street, Ascot. Not the usual Brooklands Museum or Mercedes Benz World. Probably the star entry is the S spec 1997 Jaguar XJ220 estimated at £325,000 to £375,000.

    Founded by British National Rally Champion Terry Pankhurst in 1986, Dimma UK became the exclusive importer for the 205 body kit from Dimma SA Belgium. This example has just one former owner and has covered an unwarranted 66,000 miles. Finished in metallic purple, the glassfibre bodykit has deep side skirts, front spoiler, large rear wing and stainless steel exhaust.
  • Two BMW E30 M3s for sale at Anglia auction 12 Jun 2015 (News)
    The cars, one of which is a Europameister limited edition, will be offered for sale by the King's Lynn-based auction house on Saturday, 13 June. The 1987 M3 was imported into the UK in 1998. It’s got 140,000 miles on the clock, comes with various invoices and MoT certificates, but no service book. It’s been converted from left- to right-hand drive and fitted with a Cat 1 alarm.

    It's celebrating 'Grand Prix: the Formula 1 Championship Single-Seaters' between 3 May and the end of October 2013 in an original exhibition covering the championship between 1950-1994. A new exhibition will be featuring 17 important racing cars from the sport's pinnacle. The cars on display include the Alfa Romeo 159, the Mercedes W196 and the Ferrari Lancia D50 all driven to the world title by Juan Manuel Fangio. Also on show will be Dan Gurney’s Porsche 804, Jacques Lafitte’s Ligier, the two famous cars of the 1979 French GP – René Arnoux’s Renault R11 and Gilles Villeneuve’s Ferrari 312T, as well as Ayrton Senna’s Williams-Renault.

    Paul Everitt, Chief Executive of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, said: “The UK is home to some of the world’s most productive automotive facilities making cars that are in demand across the globe. Landmarks such as today’s announcement from Nissan serve to reinforce this, demonstrating the importance of manufacturing to our economy and its contribution to an export-led recovery.” The Sunderland plant has produced two other models that passed the one million mark – the Micra, of which 2.3 million were made from 1992-2010, and the Primera, 1.4 million of which were made at the plant between 1990 and 2007.
