  Hi Can anyone recommend someone in the Reading area to take a look at the air con in my car. I think it needs a service and general sorting out as it's smelly. The car is 4 years old and I don't think the dealer ever looked at it during services. The pollen filter was replaced last september.

  How does the air con work exactly ? I am puzzled as when I put mine on (on a 5 yr-old Daewoo) there's a metallic/buzzing noise for a few seconds, then it seems to get cold but I am pretty sure that it gets less cold than before.

  The dash display does everything it is meant to (buttons light up when pressed, temp numbers in display increase, fan speed indicator display increases) but the heater, blower and air con are all dead. No output at all, although the engine speed reaction is still there when the air con is turned on or off. The screen heaters still work, and the coolant is getting up to temp as normal.

  My 55k Mazda 6 has just had it's annual service by the local Mazda dealer and since then it's overheating and the heating and air con are working sporadically.  The coolant was replaced and the air con system was serviced.  I've only done about 30 miles and three times the temp gauge has gone to the red line. The coolant in the tank seems cool and I've released the cap on the rad and it's boiled over loosing maybe half a pint of fluid and the temperature gauge returns to normal.

  The noise sounds like a deepish hummmm and lasts for about 2 seconds. It only occurs if I have had the air con on and have switched it off the air con about 30 seconds before stopping the engine and then exiting and engaging the double locking. Does anyone know what is causing the noise and is there a problem developing ?

  PLEASE can nobody say 'told you so' etc as I feel stupid (and panicked) already! Opened the front boot to my horror found about a pint of water in the bottom. I had the air-con on today & I don't think the car has been out in any rain - in fact I drove it to work Thursday AM, and didn't use it at all for 36 hours. After I discovered the water, I mopped it all up then drove for about an hour with the air-con on full (cold) but when I got home there was no further water, just residue from before.

  My wife's A-Class (2007) has a hole in the condenser so the air con does not work and there is no point re-gassing it.  The dealer has quoted £600 to replace of which he says well over half is made up of parts. Before I let the dealer do it, can anyone recommend an expert in the Manchester area who could give me a cheaper quotation.

  Hi everyone Having problems with the air con on my 2001 Ford Galaxy, 115ps TDI. I have never been a fan of the system used on this vehicle. It is complicated and fiddly to use when you're driving. To those who are familiar with the VW/Audi set up, it is similar to that, ie. an LCD display, one showing a symbol for the rear of the car, the other for the front.

  I have a 2006 A class with manual air con. Lately, for short periods of time, I cannot get any airflow in the cabin. It makes no difference whether the air conditioning compressor is on or off or the position of the air distribution dial.

  I have a very small leak in my air con system. It seems to need refilling every 12 months or so. I have taken it to air con specialists twice now but they can't track down the leak. Rather than keep paying them to refill it periodically, I would like to buy some R134a in smaller quantities and refill it myself.
