  • mondeo diesel 2.0DI (115bhp) 23 Feb 2002 (Forum)
Has anyone else bought a new Ford Mondeo diesel 2.0DI (115bhp duratorq engine) and been disappointed with the fuel return when compared with the fuel returns quoted in various magazines and websites? I've done about 4,000 miles in mine from new and and getting a return of 35.5mpg all the time whether I am driving in towns or on motorways.
  • Official fuel consumption measurement 27 Jun 2001 (Forum)
Does anybody know precisely how the official fuel consumption figures are measured? I have seen references to official measurements taken on a rolling road, but this would not take into account variations in wind resistance between different vehicles.

  • BMW 3 Series Coupe - The AA Warranty sold by The Cargiant 27 Jun 2013 (Forum)
Although I didn't intend to buy a warranty with it, the sales guy persuaded me vigorously by showing a leaflet saying things such as, this a very transparent high quality warranty governed by the Cargiant safeguarding and it is only administered by the AA and if the car develop any fault, such as engine or transmission or fuel system etc. they will deal with it directly and so on... Now after about six months the car has developed some fault to do with the fuel system and they refuse to pay. The BMW specialist diagnosed the problem and need to change the the fuel injectors, injector coils and also spark plugs.

  • Nissan Micra 2000 1.4 SE+ - Long Term Fuel Trim 18 Apr 2011 (Forum)
After the problem did not improve, I had another garage take a look at the car and it was discovered that the previous garage had fitted a universal 4-wire back oxygen sensor to the front! The fuel trim at this point was hanging between +20-23%. Having had the front changed for a legitmate Bosch sensor (part number: 0258005263) and the wiring harness reconnected where it had been cut by the last garage the car seemed to be running a lot better and the fuel trim started reducing (they said it should freefall after a few hundred miles back down towards 0%) and wouldn't need anything else doing to it.

Anyone out there with a view - or more experience with stuff like this....? I have to say the car has been great until now, but if I had known that to fix a fuel pump would cost £1400 - I would NEVER have bought it - guess there's a whole bunch of new questions to ask in future :-))
  • Pug 306 HDi Fuel Problems - HELP! 21 Jun 2006 (Forum)
It was taken to a Peugeot main dealer who diagnosed failed injectors 1 & 3. As a result all 4 were changed as per Pug procedures. The car still would not fuel or run correctly. • Ford Focus III 2.0tdci ghia - intermittent loss of power 16 Nov 2013 (Forum)
My major concern is that someone may drive into me when this fault occurs as nearly happened on the M8. it has been back to the local ford dealership, (evans halshaw, edinburgh) where they kept the car for a few days, was taken on an extensive road test, everything was "ok",diagnostic testing showed no fault codes. one of the senior techs questioned the type of fuel used,a fuel sample was taken and was given the all clear, the fuel filter was replaced, engine recoded all at a cost to me,the problem still remains. they have suggested that i shouldnt use cheap forecourt fuel, ie tescos etc, i have since switched to Shell. the problem is still there. the car has been back in since then and now they say the fuel is contaminated, which i take exception to, as i have never filled my car with anything other than diesel. i have asked how this may have happened. they have suggested 2 ways. either the car has run dry, picking up the debris from the bottom of the tank, this has never happened or when i have refueled my car the pump that i have used may have been running low and the gunk from the bottom of that may have entered my tank. both of these i think are far fetched. each time a diagnostic test has been run i am charged as no fault is found. even before they claimed my fuel was contaminated there was a fault, it has undergone the same diagnostic testing each time, so how they have decided this all of a sudden is beyond me.

  • Peugeot 206 - Peugeot 2.0 HDI Naughtyness 21 Jan 2011 (Forum)
Hi, Sorry for the rather strange topic title, anyway on Monday I was driving back from work and on my way to my local Tesco station to fill up with Diesel and the fiel guage was reading about a few millimiters above the area where it would normally beep and display fuel low(or something to that effect) I have never intentionally driven my 206 in the reserve for fear of both running out of fuel and also sucking up a load of crap from the fuel tank. Driving along nicely and then the engine management light came on along with a beep and anti pollution fault(which is something that has popped up ever now and then-my 206 does not have a FAP filter system) so I tried to start it and it wouldn't...I had to call the AA in the end which had to tow me back to my house(less than 2 miles away) but before doing so he tried various things like asking the obvious if there was sufficient fuel in the tank etc etc(which there was according the the guage) and upon connecting it to his computer it came back a fault relating to the error code P1112 fuel rail pressure.
