Rover 800 (1986 - 1999) - 1996 2000ti petrol tank leak 23 Apr 2008 (Forum)
My Rover 820 Vitesse Sport has developed a leak in the fuel tank. I know this model has a high capacity fuel pump, but other than this does anyone else know if the petrol tanks on 800s are all the same (just different pumps - which I can swop over). Also, anyone know of a source of good 2nd hand tanks - new are obsolete at dealers. -

A technical question about vacuum 10 Jun 2007 (Forum)
I have a 4 cyl motorcycle, 4 carbs, each has a stub to connect to a vacuum balancer, three stubs are blanked off and one is connected to the fuel tap which is vacuum opperated. If the stubs were linked and in effect all were connected to the fuel tap would the vacuuum applied at the tap increase? I think not, the vacuum from all 4 carbs will be the same so will be absolute, rather like pressure and volume being independant. -

Terrano diesel lumpy tickover 21 Mar 2005 (Forum)
On a 1999 Terrano 2.7tdi automatic the tickover is erratic sometimes and at other times displays a "hysteresis" pattern (thrum thrum thrum like an old commercial diesel). however normal running is OK and fuel economy as normal. Car is regularly serviced so filters should not be clogged. Have tried Redex diesel in a tank of fuel without much success. Any ideas? Not too worried because I'm trading it in soon and the problem is probably not bad enough for dealer to notice. -
Driving VW Diesels Economically 11 Jun 2004 (Forum)
HJ advised an owner of a 130bhp VW Golf to keep the engine revs between 2 and 3000rpm to maximise the fuel economy. Admitedly this was for a six speed gearbox. I've tried this in my Passat 100bhp 5 speeder. I found myself driving generally two gears lower than normal. According to the computer the fuel economy was worse than usual. -
Hard to start without priming - Fiesta. 12 May 2004 (Forum)
Fiesta 1.8 LX diesel. I just changed the hand fuel pump, primer pump. The car is quite hard to start after an overnight wait unless i prime the pump a few times then start no problem. Its like low fuel pressure which would indicate a leak somewhere but the bolts were all tighened properly all seals were oiled and added so i cant see where the problem might be ? -

Petrol additive to boost octane rating 18 Dec 2003 (Forum)
A friend who lives in a remote area of West Scotland, has bought an Audi TT with the 225bhp motor that requires 98 ron fuel. The problem is that his nearest garage selling super unleaded is 100 miles round trip away. Is there any additive product on the market that would boost normal 95 Ron to super unleaded ??? He is lucky to live in an area where Gatsos are unknown, so enjoys the blast to get fuel. -
