Nissan Tino 2.2 DCI 2004 17 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Then the fault reoccurs a day or so later . Back to the dealer who then tells me, that from the diagnostics it is a fuel pump problem and warns me that it may befuel contamination and if so, it is not covered by the warranty. Somewhat shocked I ask at what cost . The reply was "not too bad, only about £800" I ask him if he is living in the real world!! -
? change diesel injectors (Fiat) 4 Oct 2005 (Forum)
This is a 2.4 litre turbo charged diesel (not common rail) that has done 82,500 miles. My initial reaction has been to add some injection cleaner to a new tank of fuel. For the past few days it has been running fine, but this morning the problem returned. I believe it may not be firing on one or more of the 5 cylinders for a brief time due to fuel starvation. -
Car immobiliser problem - Honda Prelude 7 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Between the wires, there was a "Ford" relay-type thing - It was a small yellow cube connected between the wires of this immobiliser. Taking this all out, the vehicle still refuses to start most of the time. The Prelude is a fuel-injection version (It's a 2.0L fuel injection petrol manual "K" reg) - I'm starting to get the sudden feeling there's a third box somewhere or in some form other than a box, but I've spent three days looking for it, and haven't found it, so dunno. -

Bad diesel???? 24 Aug 2005 (Forum)
Unusual because it was always willing to pull well when running at 80 mph earlier in the day. Questions are: Does the premium fuel have anything that could cause this? (unlikely). Is it likely that normally nobody else will pay such an extortionate price in France for diesel and this fuel has been sitting in storage for months? -
Focus TDCi injector fault / power loss 29 Apr 2005 (Forum)
It's OK for say the first couple of bends on a nice B road, or an overtaking squirt on the motorway from 70mph, but after the 2 or so corners / straights or if I'm going at 80 and want to accelerate - nothing there. I thought it was the fabled dodgy fuel pump, but the only fault code we could foind was P1200 - 'faulty injector'. The technician said that he has seen a lot of TDCi's with knackered injectors (they seem particularly prone to damage)which feed back data to the ECU, which shuts down the fuel delivery, presumably to prevent further damage. it's not a critical fault, so the glow plug light does not flash. -
1.4 206 HDi mpg and low revs 1 Apr 2005 (Forum)
I would have expected to be in fourth at 30mph and 5th at 40mph. Obviously having to be in the highers gears doesn't help my fuel consumption problem! I would appreciate any thoughts/advice Many thanks Jon -
Peugeot 306dt low compression 23 Jan 2005 (Forum)
I have a '95 Peugeot 306 dt which has suffered from poor starting for a long time. The car starts, but runs very rough for around 30s from cold. When warm the car drives ok. After trying and failing to find air leaks in the fuel system,I booked it in with a diesel specialist who has said the fuel system is fine but has diagnosed low compression (270psi) on one of the cylinders. I have had three quotes from engine specialists to put this right, all around £1000.All of them seemed surprised that the engine should have this fault at a relatively low mileage (88K),but seemed convinced that it was pistons or piston rings. Two of the places said I'd be better off with a recon engine,or getting rid of the car before it got any worse! -
Vectra DTi Starting .. the last straw 23 Mar 2004 (Forum)
I have a 'W' reg Vectra 2.0 DTi which has had the common problem of not starting if left for a while. Accepted wisdom on this problem is that it is caused by air leaks in the fuel system. This is generally cured by replacing the bleed off pipes, changing the injector seals, replacing the filter housing and fitting a non-return valve in the fuel pipe. So we tried all that. No joy. -

VW Audi 1.9 TDI PD - Best Engine Ever ? 30 Jun 2024 (Forum)
In 40 years of motoring and access to the Millbrook trade days to trial all models over the last 20 years I have ome to the conclusion that the 1.9 TDI PD engine takes some beating. Low end torque , turbo kicks in at 2000 revs and unbelievable fuel economy I have yet to find a better combination of useable power and economy. I think that Avant will agree -
SsangYong Korando - Average driving Speeds 23 Jan 2024 (Forum)
Just went to reset the trip computer on the car and there was a little item that said miles driven, time driven and average speed as well as fuel consumption. Average speed was 19 mph over the past 1500 ish miles which yesterday included a fast as legally possible drive to France including a nice fast bit on the Autoroute. 85 in the Korando is plenty fast enough for me most of the time... -
Nissan Qashqai 2011 - 1.5 DCI - Starting issue -Nissan Qashqa 24 Jun 2022 (Forum)
Once started its starts again but but always on 2nd crank . Tested the battery and seems to be ok. Priming the fuel bulb does not make much difference. no error codes on a cheap scanner. Any ideas what it could be? Many thanks -
Peugeot 308sw 2016 - Siphoning diesal from new Peugeot 11 Mar 2022 (Forum)
Any tips on how to siphon it out please? I have a siphon and an attachment allowing access to the fuel tank, but the 60cm pipe doesn't seem to reach the diesal at all, even though it goes fully in. I don't know if there is an anti siphon device of some sort fitted, or if the tube needs to be weighted to reach it? -

All - Sainsbury's -free air 23 Sep 2021 (Forum)
My colleague bin Godalming says it's the same there, so probably a national decision. I used to visit for air and probably get fuel half the time i visited. I'll try and avoid darkening their door for a while, that'l learn then eh? -
Claiming Mileage Allowance 20 Aug 2021 (Forum)
My son's current and previous employer want fuel receipts when claiming his 45p business mileage expenses. I've been retired six years now, but my employer never requested receipts, I just claimed miles x 45p and it was paid. Does anyone know if HMRC rules have changed? -

“We are far beyond the safety net of workforce surplus that protects the world’s supply of food, fuel, and medicine,” said ICS secretary general Guy Platten. “Without urgent action from governments the supply of seafarers will run dry.” https://gcaptain.com/the-pool-of-ship-officers-is-running-dry/ -
any - Power sapped by A/C 9 Jul 2020 (Forum)
I always have driven with it turned on summer or winter and when it wasn't working I can't say that I noticed any difference in power or fuel consumption from the 120 hp engine but you don't get something for nothing even if the power consumption is minimal.
