  I have a Vectra B that had the cam belt snap on it due to a fault with the water pump. Replaced cam belt, re-fitted head (16 valves bent and twisted) got it all running again and now I have a cooling prolem. I can start the car fine when cold, 2nd air pump works and car runs sweet. Car then heats up remarkably quickly. to about 100 but radiator fan doesn't kick in.

  Can anyone please help me with a problem with an elderly Vectra. The car is a 96P 2.0SRi. The problem is uneven running at small throttle openings or on the over run when the vehicle is warm. The car idles perfectly well and runs quite smoothly from cold and when warm runs fine given a reasonably large amount of throttle.

  And willing to fix the car as the fault code won't go off and I've had things replaced what the diagnostic was showing and the code is still showing.  . Ive had new egr valves and new mass air filter and the car still won't run. It runs if the air mass flow is unplugged but plugged back in it won't run. Thanks

  If the car salesman says you dont need to run in a new car anymore and just drive it normally, then why does the owners manual say don't rev past 3,000 rpm for the first 600 miles ? as you can imagine with a  brand new Sandero stepway with a 90 tce engine, it's impossible not to rev above 3,000 rpm (especially in the lower gears pulling out from side roads).

  My Passat has had the emissions fix which I read can result in more soot and earlier DPF failure. Guidance is that I should have regular runs with revs over 2000rpm. Trouble is on motorway runs in 6th at 70mph my rpm is just below 2000rpm. So do I have to change down? How far for? etc Just wondering. Ta. PS: Car is running fine post fix but my usage has changed so doing more short trips.

  Hello, side from the obvious risk of theft, is it illegal to leave your car running whilst you're scraping the outside and your vehicle is on a private drive or road?  I heard that any unattended vehicle can reward you with 3 points on your license even if its sitting on your drive.

  Help   My car brake lights do not go off whilst ther car engine is running.   I noticed when reveresed the car  towards my white colour garage door that my brake light slightly brightens, when I am pushing on the foot brake pedal. What could it be.

  hiya l have a pug 307hdi 1.6 with a fault when revs over 2500rpm then cuts out and wont re start after about 5min. anti polltions light comes on and got faults codes p0087,p1113,p1166. when driving slow its drive fine but if you try and drive it a bit hard it like its only running on half power and has somtimes cut out when driving. you help would be very greatfull

  hi can anybody help please. my 1.4 corsa is running very rough almost like hunting on tick over and at low revs missing, the head gasket had been replaced just before i bought it with the head skimmed new valves and new hydraulic lifters, iv replaced the plugs for new, fitted a known good coil pack and leads, removed and cleaned the egr valve, but no difference, can anybody help please ?

  Just recently bought the Volvo which has a fault of the oil light coming on when warmed up and displaying message "low oil pressure stop safely asap". Replaced the oil sensor switch and changed the oil. But again the car runs fine but after about five miles the light goes on and off and remains on then a little later. No other problems, the engine runs great, no noises or bad running. Any ideas? Thanks Iain

  I have a Transit Connect fitted with the 1.8 TDCi engine. It runs fine but the engine is lumpy just off tickover, and again at about 2000rpm. This is when holding it on the throttle while stationary. When actually driving it seems OK but is a bit lumpy when reversing.

  My 1.0 1994 Micra is running very rough,this mainly happens at over 30 mph and it seems to be a fuel supply problem as it will be ok and then be very jerky,when you put your foot to the floor nothing happens to the accelaration, the injection fuse is ok but the fuel filter looks like the original,car has 70K on clock and uses Esso all the time however it does very low mileages maybe 50 a week, any advice would be appreciated,would it be prudent to change the fuel filter and give it a dose of injector cleaner .

However, a new technique is now being practised at pedestrian crossings, where if the light's red and there's no one on the crossing, you just drive across.

  In an earlier 'I have a question' thread (http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=13782 ) there was some discussion of spreadsheets to calculate car running costs by entering mileage and fuel consumption. Did anyone come up with the perfect spreadsheet as a result of this? I know DavidHM had one at the time. If anyone has such a thing I'd be grateful if they'd send it to me.

  It happens at all engine speeds in all gears and it doesn't seem to matter whether the engine is hot or cold. Apart from that it runs fine and. I'd appreciate any suggestions for the cause of this.
