  • Mazda CX5 - Commitment to Diesel 11 Feb 2022 (Forum)
Surprising to see Mazda s commitment to diesel after all the negative comments reported by owners on this site about major problems whilst shortly out of warranty . Lets hope they have finally sorted the DPF issues as the road tests indicate that the extra power from the diesel gives it the performance lacking in the petrol.
  • Mazda 3 - The Japanese are back 1 Feb 2019 (Forum)
Stunning new model now launched AND with a diesel option surprisingly. Would have thought they have had enough grief with their DPF problems ? And with the Skyactive engine having a switchable function on the spark plugs this car is state of the art. But its refreshing to see another example of the renaissance in Japanese stylists following on from the CHR.

Ive started by removing the rocker cover which has given me more access to the manifold but it looks like i need to remove the dpf? Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks.

  • Ford Kuga (2008 - ) - Kuga sales suspended 19 Jun 2008 (Forum)
I'm told that Ford have banned the supply of all models, even those that have been paid for and are already at the dealers, due to insuperable problems with the DPF blocking. Any owners come across this?
  • 2008 Mazda 6 2.0 Diesel - Losing Power 1yr+, Engine & DPF Light & Rising oil 28 Feb 2011 (Forum)
I phoned mazda to book it in the following week, but then on a drive home after 100mile round trip the engine light came on, the power loss was far worse (Im guessing limp home mode as I had to put it into 2nd gear to get up a hill on the motorway...) and further towards home the DPF light came on. I got my partner to look at the manual and he said it was ok to get home as long as it doesnt start flashing. Just as we approached our drive way, the DPF light started to flash. They took it in and changed filters (not sure which ones) they also replaced wiring which was apparently causing the DPF & Engine light faults and gave me the car back.
  • Vauxhall Astra CDTi 2013 - Vauxhall Astra CDTi frequently running regen 23 Oct 2024 (Forum)
The garage did say that I'd probably have to do about 400-500 miles to be sure it was just more than the injectors and there is diesel and other crud in the DPF from when it was over injecting, and this also caused the regen to be interrupted on most occasions (pre the injectors being changed) so the DPF wasn't actually getting a good clean out. Does this sound right?
  • 2010 vauxhall zafira 1.9 CDTi diesel - ZAFIRA DIESEL 1,9 CDTi GOING INTO LIMP MODE 22 Sep 2023 (Forum)
Also, would using a diesel additive to clear the DPF help matters? Thanks in advance for any responses.
  • Mazda 6 - DCS and ECU Light On, EGR Valve problem, then big 24 Dec 2011 (Forum)
" If not, the root cause is going to do the same again after I have paid a fortune to get the car working again. I have read on some of the forum about the DPF problem. Could it be the same problem? Shall I remove the DPF or get it regen when the engine is up and running? Could the DPF blockage become too severe and damage the brand new engine again while I tried to get it regen?
  • Audi A3 1.9 Tdi e Sport - Used car advice 18 Mar 2018 (Forum)
My partner is looking to buy the Audi with the above spec from SMS cars in Wellingbourough. Would this 1.9 be a PD engine which are brilliant and would it have a Dpf being a 59plate ? Viewing on Monday so your advice would be appreciated.
  • Ford Transit Sport 60 Reg - Buying advice required 19 Aug 2014 (Forum)
Understand that they are fairly heavy on tyres. And there has been cam belt issues with the 2.2 engine. But has the DPF been an issue. Cheers
  • Mazda 6 estate 2006 TD Diesel - Mazda 6 oil 'leak' 27 Jun 2014 (Forum)
My daugher has an oil drip beneath car but difficult to trace with engine shields in place.  Area around air intake is wet.  Has recently had DPF filer replaced. so this might be an emission control problem
  • Peugeot 308 1.6 Hdi - Anti pollution fault 23 Oct 2016 (Forum)
Hi, I'm a newbie ere and would be grateful of ur advise the anti pollution light is comin on our car and it keeps cutting out its a 2008 I am aware of this warning light comin on cos of a dpf fault or lack of additive, but after checking I found that there was no dpf fitted or any elloyd (additive) tank/bag fitted I think it's called that anyway. We AV ad this car for bout 4 year now and not ad any problems like this in the past, I gave it a full engine service and the problem seemed to go away fa maybe 3 days and then today at possibly the worst place ever (big roundabout just off motorway) boom the problem was back it started juddering and cut out again and the message was back and mil light was on Managed to get home but took ages cos kept going into limp mode and juddering and cutting out then it'd clear and could get abit further.
  • BMW 320D Touring - Petrol vs diesel. Small estate 12 Jun 2016 (Forum)
In response to a recent query you wrote: " If you can find a 2009 or 2010 with a chain cam diesel engine that doesn't have a diesel particulate filter then that could be your best bet. KIA cee'd 1.6CRDI SW or Hyundai i30 1.6CRDI SW both delayed fitting DPFs until they absolutely had to. In the future, such cars may be banned from any city centres, but you wrote A road and country lane driving so that should not be a concern" Could you please explain why DPF's are such a bad thing.
  • Citroen C5 2.2 HDI Auto Exclusive Estate - Citroen C5 2004 2.2HDI - Depollution Fault 26 Feb 2014 (Forum)
The car still drives as if nothing is wrong. Any ideas? I would have thought the mileage is low enough for the DPF / Eolys to be ok unless the DPF can age without mileage?   Thanks in advance
  • VW Golf - James May names "The peoples car" 13 Dec 2014 (Forum)
Last night's programme hosted by James May named the VW Golf as the modern day peoples car. But with concerns about DPF failures on the TDI s and DSG problems is the MK6/7 Golf really following in the tradition of this famous model? Or should be looking at entry level cars such as the Dacia Sandero?
  • ford focus TDi 1600cc - diesel particulate filter - defective 5 Apr 2011 (Forum)
My focus was diagnosed as having a faulty dpf - the cost is £800 ! I can afford it yet, but an I safely use the car without causing any damage for a week or two - I accept the loss of power but I dont want to use it if I am going to damage it
