• Poor tickover-new battery Mazda 626 1 Jun 2006 (Forum)
  The battery failed on my Mazda 626 the other day, I replaced it and now she starts and runs well apart from tickover which seems to be lower, you can come upto a junction and the engine will die, shell starts up straight away , but the tickover is now lumpier since the battery change .

  It was n't until evening, when I went to plip the doors from the house, that I realised that my key was missing and it slowly dawned on me that it was still in the ignition. Result was totally flat battery! Wondered- what is the daftest way that BR colleagues have managed to drain their batteries?

  Hi all, I have the above car and the battery is almost knackered, due to me using it only occasionally as i use my van for work 6 days a week. My question is will I damage the brain or anything else by removing the battery in order to fit a new one.

  Any of you technical chaps got any thoughts as to why the battery on my brother's 850 T5 keeps running down. It's not old and seems to lose its charge even after a long run on the motorway. The obvious thing to do is to buy another but could it be something else which might damage the new battery ?

  Anyone know how to change the keyfob battery on an X reg Zafira? Can't see how you get the keyfob open. Presumably the same fob is used on the Astra? Thanks.

  astra td 1997,my battery warning light is on all the time it is very dim but brightens up when the car is reved up you only really notice it in the dark any ideas

  My Caddy has been reluctant to start for a while now and I am looking to replace the battery with something more heavy duty. So far I have looked at Halfords (as there is a branch in town) and Ebay, but am struggling to find a battery with higher figures than the one in the van (these are 78Ah and 740A).

  I am using an old multimeter (non electronic display). Starting the engine the meter dips below 10 volts momentarily. Should I get the battery replaced or is there something else I should look at or test first? The voltages seem OK to me, but is the battery marginal? If the battery  are there any  make recommendations fior long life?

  Finally on low revs the car was spluttering a bit, but JUST managed to get the thing home. 1st thought was battery, and as I haven't had a new battery for years I didn't mind replaing it. On checking it, it did seem low on fluid, so guessed the cells were knackered. Bought a new battery and obviously everything worked sweet again, HOWEVER that darn battery charge light is still on, still a very dim/flickering (on high revs) but much brighter and constant on tick over.

    I have been away for about 6 weeks and left my car, and now I am getting the message: High Voltage Battery Charge Too Low - Vehicle Cannot Start with all warning lights when I attempt to start.   The 12v battery was dead, so have tried to charge it.   The EV battery is showing 0 bars.

  I had a part fitted to the exhaust yesterday and the mechanic said my battery was low on charge. So i believe the battery is losing charge and is not being charged properly when driving (i do drive it regularly).  What could be causing this?

  Recently, my daughters car (Peugeot 307 auto) had a flat battery, turned out she'd left the interia light on. For last Christmas my son had bought me an RAC Jump Starter Heavy Duty 400 amp. However, it would not start the car & we ended up taking the battery off & charging it overnight.

  I did leave the lights on while I filled up but it was for less than 5 mins.   I have had the battery tested today and the technician said the battery was strong and was charging fine. He was at a loss, any ideas?  Thanks in advance
