  • Chrysler Voyager (2004 - 2008) - 05 2.4 Petrol cutting out on decelaration 6 May 2009 (Forum)
It was perfect according to the old owner. All I did was change the battery. I noticed a silver button under the battery - is this a fuel cut out that could have triggered a fault? Adrian

  • Audi A3 + S3 (2008 - ) - 2008 1.4T 98 Ron Petrol 28 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Hello Folks, I've just been reading a motoring magazine in which it suggested that VW/Audi FSI/TFSI engines should be run on high octane fuel. It claims that using regular unleaded will cause running or starting problems. Anyone got any ideas on this. I always thought it was only high performance cars that benefited from this?.
  • Vauxhall Astra G Diesel (1998 - 2004) - 1998 2.0 Wont start 24 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Hi - i previously posted that this would not start after stalling it - thanks for the replies to that - it was the fuel pump that needed replacing and the car worked fine for couple of months - until now. The car was parked on an incline for the first time since it was repaired and now it fires but won't start - is it likely to be the same problem?
  • KIA Sedona (1999 - 2006) - 05 2.9 CRD Poor Performance. 11 Nov 2008 (Forum)

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks Eddie.
  • Vauxhall Astra G Petrol (1998 - 2004) - LPG and petrol MOT testing emissions. 31 Aug 2008 (Forum)
How do VOSA/MOT testing stations test a dual fuelled car? Is the emission testing done on both fuel types or just one? Does LPG or Petrol give a lower emissions reading? Is it best to take your car in after a good run out & 'hot' or just take it in stone cold?
  • BMW - BMW Used Approved Weekend 14 Aug 2008 (Forum)
I received an invitation to this event, which is taking place apparently due to excellent August and September new BMW sales that has resulted in a need to clear display space for forthcoming part exchange vehicles. So excellent have been these sales, in fact, that up to £500 of complimentary fuel will be offered with each used BMW sold during the great event. Transparent or what? It must be getting very tough.

  • Peugeot 406 (1996 - 1998) - 1996 1.9td erratic idle 25 Jun 2008 (Forum)

Then engine appears to run OK when accellerating or cruising, any suggestions, i was thinking fuel? filter, injector? could you prescribe any actions that may help determine the fault?
  • Renault - Master Van 2004 2.5 - flat spot 20 Jun 2008 (Forum)
You can coax it up to 3000 rpm, which can take a while, and then it accelerates ok. Checked air filter and wastegate, and fuel filter was replaced a few hundred miles ago. It was ok after the filter change. TN
  • Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - Mondeo vs Rover Sterling 9 Jun 2008 (Forum)
My friend acquired (very cheaply), a Rover 827 Sterling automatic on an M plate (1993?) and claims not only is it faster than my car but also apparently more fuel economical as well because the engine doesn't need to be pushed as hard. Does anyone know if this is true?
  • Downsizing 12 May 2008 (Forum)
The upside is £35 a year road tax against £180 and 57 mpg against 38 mpg, plus we will then use this car in pref to the Forester so that we can keep it for when we need it and be able to afford to keep it despite fuel price rises. Seems to make sense moneywise atleast.
  • Audi A2 (2000 - 2005) - 2002 1.4tdi misfire 23 Apr 2008 (Forum)
I have an audi a2 1.4 tdi which has a 'misfire' above 2500 revs. It sort of cuts in and out under hard accelaration. Also, the glow plug light flashes and the fuel guage doesn't work and I wondered if there was any conection. Would love to hear from some bright spark out there who could shed some light on this. Cheers
  • Leyland Daf - 1992 FA45 - Difficulty starting 10 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Is this indictative of a knackered engine (it has just started to use a little bit of oil), or is there a non return valve on the fuel system that is not working? Both batteries are in perfect condition.
  • Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 2001 1.8 Zetec - Stalling at low revs 8 Apr 2008 (Forum)
When I slow down approaching a roundabout / junction, the revs drop to below 500, battery light comes on and I have to give it a little gas to stop it cutting out - battery seems fine, not low on fuel - engine management light does not come on. Why the drop in revs? Any ideas anyone?
  • Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 2001 1.8LX - New engine problem 22 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Hi I have had a new engine fitted but the garage fitting it have now said that the engine keeps 'surging' and it may have something to do with the fuel pump. Can anyone shed any light? Is this likely to cost me even more cash? (year found via a forum search and entered into subject header)
  • Mazda Mazda 6 (2002 - 2007) - Sounds like pinking! 7 Feb 2008 (Forum)
It lasts until the engine gets warm, maybe 3-4 miles. The car has done 50,000 trouble free miles, I hope there is no fuel pump problem as mentioned on this site. kingslea.

What if my number plate was illegal (it isn't!)? Who gets the info? Who acts upon it? Do they keep the info? Or if I am legal and I pay for my fuel do they delete the info? Is it legal for Tescoburys to record my plate like this?
