  then this morning the car turns over but it wont start, i'm asuming that the immobiliser has kicked in as the key fob now doesnt work and i have changed the fob battery(just in case) the dash lights all come on as normal but the clock isn't working and the car wont start. Anyone got any helpful tips. many thanx

  Door works with key, all doors centrally lock from drivers door switch inside, fuses apparently ok, battery fitted ok, all other electrics ok, not sure where to go next. Thanks !!

  My key fob failed.New battery no go. Checked with vw dealer £75 fob + £75 "coding". i.e. £150 min. Checked on line and vw do not release code but friend works at nissan and it takes no more than 3mins. to re-code a nissan!

  Hey all, I have a big issue with my picasso the battery terminals touched the bodywork and sparked now I dont have any power the central locking does not work when I put the key in the dash and turn it i get nothing but I have checked with a test light some fuses on  in the engine bay and its getting power.

  My friend has a porsche 924S which will not start on the key. The engine  turns, battery ok,  it will start by pushing or towing. as such it is a useless car. The original suppliers, porsche main dealers, have no solution. The control box has been returned for checking twice without result, and finally, it will start if a 944 box is installed but wont run properly.

  Well not quiet, I have been starting my car every few days and its turning over in less than a second. Pretty amazing considering the battery and coil pack are from 1999. My question is if I started tomorrow after a -12c freeze am I likely to cause damage if any of the coolant has frozen? I am not convinced I have enough anti freeze in to cope with -12c :(

  hi room, sooner or later the battery will have to come off ( or be disconnected) and i was wondering if it will effect my car stereo/cd player? its nothing fancy , its a JVC unit model KDG311 theres no mention in the operators handbook, but i dont have any info on the installation , i wondered if that may be a seperate booklet for codes ....thanks zoo

  Hi I recently had my alternator replaced on my 3 series as was getting battery light flashing on and the engine shunting, with the car actually stalling when driving in a few instances. I was told by the garage this was a common fault so they replaced this however, the problem still persists.

  hi my polo 1.6 automatic 1999 abs light came on i already changed the 2 front sencer code test shows 001 abs pump faulty any idea what need to do battery terminal looks bit rusty in fuses {subject header changed to give brief details of question being asked}

  hi ive a astra van 1.7 cdti 2004.was running fine today ,parked up or 5 mins ,then set off a minute later battery light come on and no power steering ,ive had van for 2 months and the last owner said it was a new alternator ,any ideas ,would a alternator off a 1.7 dti fit ?

  can anyone tell me how to stop the drivers side (there are two), fan. Its on even when I take the key out the ignition. I've had to disconnect the battery. Tried the bitron sensor. Could it be one of the relays? There sods to take off. Please help I need my car back.

  Very embarassing ! I had a radio wiring problem that was fixed recently, but after the battery was reconnected the clock was 5 hours out ( I bought the car 3 months ago and am still waiting for the manual / handbook). I've tried all combinations of buttons to try to set the time correctly without success....any ideas ?

  I recently changed both the alternator and starter motor on my Rover 214i and now my car won't stop running, even when I take the key out of the ignition or take the battery off. The only thing that turns the car off is switching the headlights on. Any suggestions as to what might be the problem? Thanks...

  I've always thrown mine in the household waste bin, although I think I may now be breaking a law. Down at the Household Waste Recycling Centre (Tip) there's somewhere for the oil, batteries & tyres, but I've never seen anywhere for the filter. Any ideas?

  i have a gremlin in my taxi i,m sure start engine central locking locks all by itself turn engine off c/locking unlocks by itself could be driving along central locking either locks or unlocks tried the disconnecting the battery still no difference any ideas on how to get rid of this gremlin?

  Hey! Car refuses to start, turns over exremely slow,sometimes not at all! battery good solenoid on starter clicks in, rev counter is 'jumping' as the IGN key is released, Earth on gearbox was found to have come loose but fixed now recent clutch change and new stereo. any ideas anyone?
