Daewoo Matiz 29 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Its been in and out of the garage since Feb this year for the same problem, and I have paid out over £300 for it and its still not sorted, and it went back in the garage 'AGAIN' sAT 12/11/05. My car is only four yrs old. Could the problem be (as a neighbour said today) an Idle valve' (for all I know they proberly looked at that)!! Just want some info or help on this. -
Volkswagen Golf IV (1998 - 2004) - TDI 110 starting problems 13 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Essentially the engine turns over but it takes a few times to get going and a bit of throttle sometimes helps. It's only just started doing this - is it just old age! I had the car serviced a little while ago and they replaced the cambelt. Would the timing be out and causing this? I've not noticed any problems with MPG? any clues appreciated, thanks in advance noz -
Cat damage 29 Oct 2005 (Forum)
I am trying to ascertain the cause of damage to a 6 month old catalytic converter. The car began running badly and was driven gently back to base - approx 1 mile. At which point it was revved very hard by a '3rd party'to try to drive it onto a ramp. Black smoke ensued at that point. -
Citroen remote fob programming 20 Oct 2005 (Forum)
I see the info being sold on ebay for £2.99 which I don't mind paying if I knew for sure it would work, but I don't see any chance of a refund if it doesn't. Car in question is a 1999 Citroen Xsara. Not sure if it has an immobilizer, but the old remote has 2 buttons on the flip-out style fob. Main dealer wants £80 for a new fob and programming, but new fobs are about £25 on ebay so I would prefer the DIY route. -
Tips on finishing a bit of repainting 18 Oct 2005 (Forum)
I've done a spot of spray painting on one door of my car and the colour match is very good, but the new paint work has dried with a matt finish. Any recommendations on making it shiney! Incidentally it is a 6 year old Peugeot 306, I found a paint code on the driver's door which Halford's found in their computer as Vert Patagonie. -

Suzuki Vitara Banger. Good deal? 22 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Hi guys, I've been looking for an old car and was offered an H reg Vitara with about 140,000 miles on the clock for 200 quid. It has no MOT on it and it looks clean (I've only seen photos so far) but the seller tells me it has been reliable although there's "A few problems with the clutch". -
Socially Unacceptable Behaviour 28 Apr 2005 (Forum)
All over the country there are people who are considerably more morally outraged than yow when they see things that, a few years ago, were quite ok to do The question is what?s next? Is it 500 watt bass bins audible from a mile away? Cars more than 5 years old which pollute more? 4x4s? Motorbikes? The middle lane owners club? What would you prefer? -
galaxy auto gearbox 14 Apr 2005 (Forum)
My 3 yr old galaxy TDI auto has v.quickly lost all drive ability. The problem started with the engine changing down gear as soon as any torque was required and the engine was revving without any transmission. Finally the car just stopped moving. -
HIgh Mileage Volvo Diesel 10 Nov 2004 (Forum)
Seriously thining about buying a Volvo S80 D5 auto. It is 10 months old and has 30,000miles. The history is that it was a chauffeur driven car ferrying hotel guests between Central London and the airports. I know the S80 model well (I have just sold a 2.9), but what should I look for when buying it and what should I do once I do buy it, assuming that I do? -
MG-ROVER - How can it be saved ?Vol 2 21 Aug 2004 (Forum)
Still, he started it and you lot have now gone on for over 200 replies, so here\'s vol 2. ND I have never considered owning a Rover. I always thought they were old mens cars. They kept the wrong name. They should have stuck with Triumph. The only Rover I ever fancied was the SD1 V8. -
Insurance and NCB help please 24 Jun 2004 (Forum)
Hi, I'm new to this site but need some help. I've just insured my car with another insurance conmpany with 1 years no claims. However, the documents have come through and I've realised that my old insurance expired at 12:00pm but the new insurance started at midnight on the same day which means technically, for the first half of that day, I've not had 1 years no claims if you see what I mean. -
peugeot HDI 26 May 2004 (Forum)
I test drove the 206HDI 90 and was disappointed with it's bottom end performance when compared to my three yr old 306 estate with the same engine. I have been told the engine management setup can have an effect on performance but, the supersalesman tried to convince me that was rubbish. He maintained the 206 was better, "You see sir it's a lighter car and technology has moved on since yours was made!!!" -
Depreciation - Winners & Losers 22 Jan 2004 (Forum)
Bottom was the Renault Laguna which lost a massive 68.9%, followed closely by the Nissan Primera and Ford Mondeo, which both lost over 66%. There is no question that depreciation is the greatest cost of car ownership when buying new, but the Mondeo makes a great buy at 3 years old.!!! -
Shelf life of oil and anti-freeze? 14 Jan 2004 (Forum)
I'm planning to service my new car in the next week or two, but am a bit concerned whether the fluids will have degraded in any way? Any ideas? -

I only use the caravan approx 4 times a year with the furtherest distance travelled being around 250 miles. Therefore i normally opt for petrol models rather than deisel for the better performance whilst not towing. Could anyone recommend an good allround car to suit my needs, i have been considering either a 2.0 Vectra or Laguna around 3 years old. My caravan is a Hobby Prestige 460 with an unladen weight of 1100kgs. -

Mini electrics/cooper s /cooper/one 1 Nov 2002 (Forum)
Any mini cooper s/ cooper/one owners out there. 4 weeks old cooper s 1000 miles a very intermitant fault has developed (happened 6 times), when using remote to open car, sunroof tilts and windows drop about one quarter of an inch, can only be rectified manually, have spoken to service department, and it's a new fault for them.
